BEEP BEEP BEEP
I wake up and press the snooze button on the useful but annoying machine to my right. Great another day of school I think to myself. I don't even know why I have to go to school, I get horrible grades, and that won't stop, I just want to work in McDonalds and I will be happy. I get out of my bed using the clock for support, however I slip and the clock falls and gets unplugged. "God dammit" I say to myself. I walk to the kitchen and grab some cereal for myself. I grab a jug of milk and pour some milk into my bowl; however instead of rushing to the bottom the milk stayed on top of the cereal. I look at the bowl with disgust and look at the clock, I have about five minutes to get going. "Mom, we need to get milk!" I shouted up stairs.
"Okay! Hey take the bus to school today! I'm sick today, so get some milk before you get home." She shouted back. My mom is almost never ill, but when she does get sick, she doesn't do anything.
"Do I have to?" Please say no, please say no, please say no.
"Look I know you don't like taking the bus, but its either that, or you can walk." She rolled over and started sleeping. Great I have a choice, take the school bus, or walk, and become late to school. On top of that I risk getting shot, not even kidding, the only four times I walked to school, there was a shooting, got robbed, and almost killed. Dammit, gotta take the bus. I walk outside and see some girls walking to the bus, point and laugh at me. God I know I'm not the most popular kid in school but is seeing me a laughable expi- oh shit I didn't get my clothes! I look down and see I'm dressed in nothing but my underwear, I only noticed because I felt a breeze. I run back into my house and get some clothes on. I check my clock and start racing for the bus.
I catch the bus just as it starts to move, good thing this isn't a movie because he stopped and waited for me. I get into the bus as the bus driver sneers at me, probably didn't want to stop for my last ass. I start looking for a seat. I saw a few groups I recognize at school there, I saw a group of people who was spending their time tormenting people next to them, mental note don't sit next to them, as I walked down the aisle there were jocks talking about the basketball game we won yesterday, a group of emos (or goths either way they creep me out), and of course the nerds.
As I was walking I saw a group of girls. The first one I saw stuck out like a sore thumb, she wore a cowboy hat had blonde hair and seemed to have a country accent, why was she wearing boots with spurs? Weird.
The second one I saw seemed a year younger than most of them, she had her hair pink and puffy, she wore a pink jacket over her white collared shirt and spoke with energy! She talked faster than that Mexican mouse guy on the Looney Tunes.
The third one I saw had short to medium rainbow hair, wait rainbow? I WANT TO DYE MY HAIR RAINBOW, man I bet I would look pretty cool, she also seemed to be more athletic than the rest to the girls.
The next person I saw had curly purple hair and looked like she should be in some fancy private school, she spoke with elegance and grace.
The next two people I saw was a girl reading a book seeming to give half her attention to her friends while giving the other half to her book, she spoke once and a while giving herself small breaks from her books to see what her friends were talking about, she wore a purple jacket over her shirt and had long dark purple hair with a long streak of hot pink hair in the middle a little to the left.
The last girl I saw had pink hair, she seemed to be talking in the conversation but her meek voice would be quickly over shadowed by the other's, she wore a yellow jacket over her shirt.
Seeing how every seat was either taken by a cliché he didn't belong to, two friends talking to each other, or assholes with their backpack next to them making sure no one else would take the seat next to him, I decided to take a seat next to the girls as long as they didn't mind.
The bus had one aisle with 2 seats on each side, in the back there would be 4 seats 2 seats on either side of a block separating the seats. I wondered why 3 of them took the seats in the back, those three being the cowgirl, the book worm, and the jock, the bookworm and jock sitting next to each other, and the other three sitting in the seats in front of them.Tthe pink haired girl sitting next to the "fancy" girl, the pink haired girl taking the window seat, facing the girls at the back talking nonstop, leaving the shy girl with the meek voice by herself also facing her friends talking to them. I was thinking of a logical reason why there were 3 girls in the back and three in the front, when four of them can be in the back and 2 in the front. As I kept on walking I saw a boy who seemed to be in the 7th grade, maybe he was one of those super smart kids who skipped grades. He was on the short side and had green hair. He sat next to the bookworm with his arms crossed looking like he was bored out of his mind.
I sat next to the girl with pink hair and asked politely "Can I sit here?" she quickly looked at me and muttered something I couldn't hear. "Sorry I didn't catch that say again?" I tried to talk as nice and politely as possible as she reminded me of Fluttershy who seemed to be socially awkward when meeting new people, now that I think of it all of them remind me of the mane 6! The cowgirl AJ, the jock Rainbow dash, the bookworm Twilight, the pink haired girl Pinkie, next to her Rarity, then the girl next to me was Fluttershy! Wow that's pretty cool.
"Um, sure, you can sit here. Don't mind me, if you do, I can move, just ask." She said ever so softly Am I threatening? Wow, I were to ask her to leave I would look like a douche!
"Don't worry about it, if I bother you, just ask I'll leave." I say with a smile, she must not know my rep in school, I may make some friends here. "So what's up?" It was going a long ride, and I wouldn't mind if I got a new friend along the way. She muttered something I couldn't hear. "Uh, sorry, what was that?"
"Don't worry darling, she is quite shy, my name is Ra-" she stopped mid-sentence and thought a little "Rachelle, yes that is it Rachelle, what's your name?" Rachelle asked.
"My name is Mark, what's yours?" I face palmed I really hate myself times. She giggled at my little mistake.
"Don't worry about it darling, we all make mistakes sometimes."
"Oh who are you talking too Rarity?" I heard the puffy pink haired girl ask Rachelle, hold on did she just say Rarity? She got shoved by Rachelle. "Oh hi, my name is P-" Rachelle shoved her again, she thought for a micro second and said, "Paige, my name is Paige, what's your name!"
"Oh, my name is Mark, wha- never mind." I am not saying that again.
"Hey girls! Meet my new friend Mark!" Paige told the girls in the back of the bus.
The Jock quickly said her name. "Hey my name is, Rrrrrose, yeah Rose"
The cowgirl tipped her hat and said "Name's Abbie"
The bookworm closed her book and extended her arm to meet mines "My name is Torrie, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name while I was reading my-"
"Book" I said finishing her sentence I looked at the book, it looked like it was really old, it had the title magic spells: advanced enchanting volume 1. "My name is Mark, looks like you like reading fantasy novels, am I correct?" I may be dumb, but I know a fantasy novel when see it. Swords and a hooded figure on it, every single fantasy book cover in the world.
She looked at her book then back at me "Yup!" she said giving me a weak smile "I love books about magic, knights in shining armor and dragon slayers." the little boy frowned at her, then began waiting again with his eyes closed. Torrie kept giving me a weak smile.
"So, you like fantasy books right?" She nodded. "Well, I usually watch movies like that." The bus came to a stop. I got off the bus and took my schedule out. I checked the first names on the list. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turn around. I saw Rose with her schedule in her hand.
"Hey, can you tell us where our classes are?" She handed me her half-sheet paper.
"Uh yeah, you can ask someone in the fron- wait a second." I looked at her schedule and at mines, back hers, back at mines. "Hold on, I have no idea how this happened."
"What?" Rose said trying to look at my schedule.
Yup that's what I thought, I wonder how that happened I gave her schedule back. "We have the same classes... and even though I was in this school for three years, I still don't know where the classes are." Looks like the rest of the girls wanted to know where their classes where as well.
"Wait, how could you not know your classes?" Torrie told me.
"What can I say, I don't memorize the numbers on the doors, I just know where my classes are after a couple days." I took a look at her schedule. What the hell! We have the same classes too! I quickly snatched her schedule from her.
"Ahem, can I have my schedule back?" Torrie asked me as I double checked her schedule. Yup, same classes. She tried to take her schedule back but I didn't let her touch it.
"Hold on," I give her the schedule, "I have no idea what the chances are, but we have the same schedules!" I started chuckling, I don't know, I just find it funny. I look at the other girl's schedules, obviously they have identical schedules. "What? Okay I have no idea how this works, but we have the exact same schedules.... and I don't know where our rooms are." I gave Torrie her schedule back.
"Well thanks for nothing." Rose said.
"Here," I gave her a map of the school, "You can pick those up in the front office, I'll get another one right now," I stopped talking, four seconds later the intercom started speaking.
"Students, go to your first period class, you have five minutes." The intercom said.
"We’ll meet you in math in a little."
I ran to the office and grabbed myself a map before running to my first class. I take the first seat I see. I look to my left and right to see Paige and the girl who didn't say her name... or really anything. The teacher had a couple rules on the white board, and was explaining his 'class rules'. I turn to the light pink haired girl, "So, you didn't tell me your name on the bus." I whispered so the teacher wouldn't shout at me.
"Oh, my name is flutt-" She just barely muttered her name, hells I barely heard her before she said her name.
"Excuse me, what did you say?" I whispered.
"My name is Faith." It didn't even seem like she was whispering.
"Oh, what's up Faith?" I whispered, however I think I whispered too loud.
"You! Tupas, I remember you from last year! Don't get in too much trouble this year okay?" The teacher said jokingly, the whole class started laughing. I just put my head down and tried to not get noticed, thinking I would disappear. I felt a hand rubbing on my shoulder. I looked to my left and Paige is wearing a weird hat, it's pink and has an ice cream cone on the top. I put my hand over my mouth and whispered to her.
"Hey, Paige, hats aren't allowed." I blinked and the hat was gone.
"What hat?" Paige said a bit loudly.
"The hat you were…wearing..." I almost jump out of my seat after a ruler hits my desk. I turn and see Mr. Physarus staring at me.
"Stop the chit-chat Tupas, wouldn't want to go to the office in the first day of the school, yes?"
"But- I- Okay..." I hang my head down in shame.
I looked back at Paige who was wearing her hat again; I put my head down on my desk.
As I picked up my backpack and exited the class, I saw Paige again, no hat to be found. I sat down in my english class. To my left is Rachelle and to my right is the little dude from the bus. I put my bag down next to me and looked through my things to bring out a pen to do some drawing on the table, what? I'm bored. As I finish my little master piece of a knight fighting a dragon I look to my right and see the little kid staring at Rachelle, and I know that look. I nudged Rachelle "Hey Rachelle, that little dude is staring at you, seems like someone has a crush on you!" I whispered as the teacher had his back turned to the class.
"Oh that's Samuel, he’s had a crush on me since the first second he saw me, rumor is that he worked extra hard, and I mean hard to skip a couple grades so he could be in the same grade as me." She whispered back. The teacher turned around and in a quick second I got back into my chair twiddling my fingers on top of my piece of art. I also heard the stopping of silent conversations and the sound of phones getting slipped back into pockets.
Bleep! A cellphone made a sound, as it turned off. Busted. The teacher walked past me and my drawing to the girl behind me and took her cellphone away. I leaned to Rachelle again, "Well that explains the whole twelve-year-old in high school." The class went as all first day class goes, the teacher spending the whole day explaining class rules when he could be teaching something useful.
I got the girls together and we walked to the gym, oh god it's Monday that means-
"Dodgeball!" The coach shouted as he threw a red rubber ball at me, who learning from last year, ducked. I felt the ball brush my hair and heard a thud behind me. I looked back and helped Samuel up, who had a red mark on his face. We split up into groups of eight, usually I would just sit around and get put into the group that needs one more player in the end, however Torrie, Faith, Rose, Rachelle, Paige, Abbie, Samuel, and I got into a group. We used the basketball courts as our arenas. I found myself across eight of the most athletic guys in P.E. in the between us were eight red rubber balls, made lethal if used correctly.
"Hey guys! Six girls and two guys! Hey teach, mind putting us against a group that stands a chance?" A guy on the other end shouted across the gym.
Rose face went a little red and shouted back, "Hey! Scared to go against some girls!" The gym teacher blew his whistle and we sped off, well Rose, Paige, and Abbie sped off, Torrie and Rachelle didn't look like the running type though and were slowly getting to the middle. Fluttershy just stood there cowering and I ran with Torrie and Rachelle, well for a couple seconds before turning around and walking away from what's about to be the high school equivalent of a chaotic gunfight. The whole enemy team sped to the middle. I hanged back and watched Rose get to the middle slightly faster than everyone else, she took a ball and threw it to Abbie before taking one for herself and backing up, the enemy team took the rest of the balls.
"Now I believe we should create some kind of strategy for taking them out, now I suggest we take the fast-" Before Torrie could finish her sentence a ball sped across the court and hit her. Rose helped her up before dodging a ball that would've hit her face. Rose counter attacked him a little too fast for him to dodge. Torrie smiled while walking to the bleachers. Another ball went straight for Rose however Abbie threw her ball which intercepted the rubber bullet. Abbie and Rose took some ammo from the ground and backed up. Rose passed me a spare ball she had and we stepped up.
A guy on the other side put his ball under his arm pit and shouted at me, "Hey come on pony boy!" Son of a bitch. I threw my ball at him with hatred... after going the speed of a snail the ball got caught easily. "Yup good job pony boy, hey Drake get back in here!"
I hanged my head down and walked back to the bleachers. I waved at Torrie who was reading her book again. I sat down and watched the girls play.
Rose deflected a ball with her own and returned fire, Abbie attacked as well. One of the guys dodged a shot by diving out of the way however the second ball hit him. Rose picked up the ball that she deflected and got ready. They threw a ball at Rose who deflected it. Rose passed her ball to Abbie and picked up the deflected ball. Abbie threw her ball at another guy who had the same idea. The balls passed each other and hit their respective targets. Abbie and the guy walked to the bleachers. Rose motioned Paige to take Abbie's place. The enemy team decided to focus their fire on Paige who seemed to dodge every single ball while twitching along the way. In a couple seconds the enemy was out of ammunition and my team had the advantage. Abbie said something to Paige who picked up a ball and chucked it into the air. While one of the enemies tried to catch the ball Rose got a free shot him. He promptly shouted a curse before walking to the bleachers. Two of the guys on the other side picked up the balls and decided not to go for Paige anymore.
They counted to three and threw their balls at Rose who even with her amazing agility wasn't able to dodge both of the attackers’ attacks. Rose was able to catch the first ball which was a little faster than the second one which got her. She walked to the bleachers and motioned me to get on the court.
"Hey guys, looks like pony boy is back in, this will be easy." The guy on the other side on the field taunted. I kept myself under control. I picked up a ball but was called away from the game by the gym teacher who was next to a cop. The cop put his hand on my shoulder and told me we had to go to my house, I never did anything against the law so I had no idea how this was going to play out. As we got near my house I smelled smoke and heard distant sirens. When we got to my house, well what was left of my house, I bursted out of the cop car. I was held back by a couple of firefighters as I saw my house collapse in fire, firefighters storming out at the last second. One of the firefighters put a hand on my shoulder and told me eight words that changed my life, "I'm sorry, but we couldn't save your parents."
