Drawing my own path
01 Fight or Flight
Load Full StoryIf you were on the northern lands of Mylos, you would see beautiful stone buildings, decorated palaces that shined over to others in the rising Sun, the smell of miles of peaceful pastures, and a ton of minotaurs. What you wouldn't expect to see is a small, orange, Gryphon with terror ridden throughout his whole body while three hundred minotaurs were running at trampling speed trying to rip said gryphon apart limb from limb.

In order for a gryphon to advance from private to spy level, the level with the least amount of killing, one must first assassinate an enemy that the General told him to kill with one arrow dipped in a poison of the assassin's choice. On the train ride there, I was trying my best to push back my inability to kill any sentient being. A young minataurs walked up to me and said,
"Mr.Gryphon, do you have to go potty? You don't look too comfortable."
I told the little one that it was okay and to go sit down. This seemed to calm him down and let me think. The thoughts in my head still lingered and every instinct in my body was telling my not to kill this minotaur, no matter what he did in his life or how important he is, yet I knew that I had no choice in the matter.
When I arrived at the capitol city of Mylos, Moscow, I was stunned. It was a beautiful city that had a port in the distance, a small village of sailors as well as a large palace.
This palace was a large marble, granite, and gold structure that almost made you want to steal it. And the best part was that it was easily the place where a ruler or rich person would live in. I figured that a Mr, Will Breaker would live in there as well as die in there.
I flew up to an open window and snuck in. The guards were easy enough to knock out with the correct pressure points and were surprisingly easy to drag into a broom closet. I then flew up to a ledge above the dining room table to set up my crossbow to fire.
The old minotaur walks into the dining room and I got a good look at him. He might have had been old, but his muscles blurted within his custom-made suit. He radiated power, and I knew what must be done. I start to aim the crossbow when something inside me compels me to drop the crossbow. The loud thud caused the old bull to look up with surprise as he began to yell, Guards!!!
"Who are you?" He asked in a shrill manner, "Why didn't you kill me when you had the chance?!"
I didn't know why then and I didn't want to be killed, so I spread out my wings to distract the guard holding my arms and then, headbutted the dazed guard. I now did the only sensible thing that I could do is run, even though it probably would get me killed, I flew.
Present time
You see, gryphons don't get scared, gryphons don't hate the smell or taste of blood, they don't try to talk with their enemies. instead of doing what the General told them to do and, in this case, assassinate an important and rich minotuar with military power while he was eating. That small, scared, orange gryphon is me by the way. Hi, my name is ink Sword.
If it was just the minotuars that I had to worry about, then I would have been okay with flying for my life. It is a great exercise after all. I also had to worry about going home. The gryphons have this sort of honor system, where if you fail at your mission or even worse flee, they would have full authority to send hitbirds and assassins to kill you to prevent you from spreading your peace and compassion to other gryphons. As soon as word reaches home that I didn't kill the wealthy minotuar with a poisoned arrow that was coated with a powerful cardiac-poison that stops the heart thus slowly killing him while giving him tartaurus for a few minutes and then fled, they will slaughter me. I hope that they don't send my second cousin Gilda and her team of assassins, the Silver Talons. All of these thoughts and more were running through my head as I was running for my life. What the minotaurs and the gryphons didn't know was that I had an invention of mine, the Claw Cannon. An invention that I came up with one late night in the barracks and even used claw-crafted parts. This fires a multiple array of blasts that ranged from acidic sticky bombs, freeze blasts (my personal favorite), fireworks, and laser beams. I set the cannon to hyper-freeze, which allows me to freeze salt water, which froze the boats solid so they couldn't follow me, I was now free to go.
After a few hours, I felt like I was going to vomit from flying too much. I wasn't built for long distance flying. So, to avoid crashing into the sea I decided to use my freeze blasts to freeze some of the ocean water so it would act as a raft. But with no food and all of my rations thrown up, I would have to be very very lucky. It was mid day, so I couldn't use the stars as a map to take me anywhere with food. So I was just about to lay down when I heard a loud roar coming from the sky, as well as the sound of a mylosian ship's cannons being loaded. My mom said that I had poor sight, but good hearing. What scared me more was the sound of wings beating. Then the sound of my cousin landing on my small iceberg and giving a loud yell,
"Hey dweeb, you think that you can go run away and not expect to be ripped to pieces!"
I replied with a calm look on my face, "Gilda, please don't do what I think your going to do, or else" I can be very scary when I'm calm.
She just snarled and shouted, "Or else what!"
"Or else I will have to kick your sorry childish arrogant ass across this iceberg and make you apologize for threatening me." I stated.
We then both charged at one another. Gilda did a loud scream which made me plug in some corks that I got when I froze those ships. In the time that it took me to plug up my ears Gilda was charging at me with murder in her eyes and daggers out. She slashed, clawed, ripped, hit, kicked, and head-butted. I dodged most of her attacks.
"What's the matter Gilda, getting too slow for your own cousin?, Maybe they should have sent that rainbow mare instead of you."
This sent her over the edge as she let out primal roars and calls instead of coherent speech. She then pulled a risky move, she flew up to a very high altitude and did a dive bomb. I saw this coming so I was calculating the angle of her descent as well as her speed to determine when and where to freeze her. I fired my ice blast when she was right about to kill me with her claws. The added weight made her miss me and land on the northeast side of my iceberg. A normal gryphon would have pushed her off of into the sea and let her float away, but I am not an ordinary griffin. Soon the night sky will come out and I can use the materials that I stole from GIlda to find a port to dock and get food.
Once the beautiful moon had risen I began to evaluate what I had and where I was. I now had ten smoke bombs, a magic sword that can change from sword to a black tattoo on my non-blaster hand, a map of Equestria, about twenty more freeze blasts left, rechargeable plasma blasts, fifty sticky bombs, ten orange fireworks, my glasses, my wits, a role of duct tape, a lighter, a side bag, no food, a compass, fifty bits, and a blow torch. I also had one angry frozen gryphon to keep me company.
When morning came, I had already figured that the best place for me to hide from the minotaur and the rest of the Silver Talons was the Everfree forest, and the closest city that was bordering the forrest was Filly-delphia. Soon I floated there with the use of fireworks, safe distance, a role of duct tape.
As soon as I arrived I flew to the closest fish market with a lighter and bought, cleaned, gutted, cooked, and then ate a pound of fish. It was possibly the greatest taste of salvation I've ever had.
Afterward I continued down the path to the Everfree Forest as a very happy bird.
