Spectral Wars
1. The departure and arrival.
Load Full StoryThere I was standing in the middle of a raging battlefield. Soldiers fighting for their land and family, risking everything they have to keep everyone safe. And I'm standing in the middle of it, casting spells left and right as my mana pool slowly drains. We were losing ground and time before the enemy force will over run everyone on the field.
"stellam ignem!" I called out as white mists surrounded me while a faint white moon appears in my hands above my head. White stars of energy rained down upon the fields around me, with every strike ending with a burst of energy. I am called a Celestial mage, I have control over the Celestial bodies. Sun and moon alike. They gave me a nickname, all over the country I am known as the Spectral Dragon.
"spectris... procella!" I shouted into the air, my hands blazing with energy as I push my last bit of mana into the spell. My eyes flared with energy as in my left eye the sun appears and in my right eye the moon. Slowly but surely clouds formed around the area as thunder could be heard. lightning striking down at some places, sometimes even striking an enemy. slowly the wind started to pick up, not so long later large twisters of pure arcane energy raged though the battle field destroying everything in its path, leaving only me and my most feared enemy. Lord Grevion Bloodmantle.
"It seems it's just you and me Spectral Dragon. I remember it well our first encounter, it's been a long while, but it was at your village am I correct?" he snickered as he smirks. "Oh yes, I came to collect the tax from your parents was I not? Those poor, poor people. If only they had more money, then they would still be alive right now."
Before he could continue, a energy bolt barely misses his face. my hand pointing forwards glowing with energy. "You do well to keep your mouth shut, bloody bastard. Robbing them from their lives while they were already struggling to raise money to feed me and my little sister, but you had to kill them all. for all but a little fun!" I shouted towards him as I try to keep my anger contained. He merely chuckles darkly as his hands glow a pitch black. The necromancer of the western legion, this might be the last battle I ever fight.
Without a word he shoots a ball of shadow energy towards my location as I quickly jumped to the side avoiding the oncoming blasts of shadow, but it gets harder with the minute after my last spell left me drained and weaker.
"Can't fight back dragon!?" he shouted as he fires even more balls of energy. "Getting tired, maybe you should rot in the ground along with the worthless bunch of shit you called parents!" after he finished, I felt something snap deep inside of me. My anger rising to new levels as my eyes widen. I fell on the ground as I released a roar of anger, shifting into my final form. a twenty feet tall Spectral Dragon, four horns on my head. my eyes glowing with the power of the sun and moon combined. Spikes running along my spine, with a long slender tail with at the tip a blade like edge.
"Parentis contumeliam, illudentes mihi. Et mittam te ad inferos, et reducis!" I roared through the battlefield, the ground trembles with every step I take. Fear slowly entering Grevion as he slowly backs away, trying to hold an intimidating look on his face. I bared my fangs, growling lowly at him.
"What will you do dragon, sent me to the moon?!" he laughed like a madman, "I will escape from there, and you know it!"
I lowered my head as I spoke in the human tongue, "You are correct, I won't be sending you to the moon. The only place where you will burn, WILL BE THE SUN ITSELF!!" I roared at him as I summoned a entrapment rune around the two of us.
I lifted my head up as my eyes started to glow brighter than before, "Tempus et spiritus," I chanted as the rune glowed a faint yellow light as He tried to escape, without any luck.
"ad vestrum iudicium voco te nimia pluvia super anima." I continued, as he started to panic. "You can't do this!" he yelled, "If you continue you will be teleported with me. You die with me!"
As he kept on yelling I never stopped chanting the spell, I knew all too well that I could not escape the spell. As helpful it may be, everything has a price. This was one I was willing to pay. This world had seen enough bloodshed and wars, it was time I ended the eon of pain and suffering.
"Liber esto, sit flagitiorum commissis ardeat." I closed my eyes as the energy started to build, my thoughts drifted to the moments I spent with my parents and my little sister. I knew that I would see them again very soon. I took a deep breath as I chanted the last line of the spell. "Exilium fieri coeperint, Ianuae Magicae solaris!" I roared as I released a torrent of energy around me and Grevion. "No, it can't end like this," he yelled. "I will not be defeated by a mere sorcerer, I am the Necromancer of the west. I will not be banished..." He looked at himself and saw he was slowly falling apart, his magical energy leaving his body. "No, no... NOOOOOOOOO!" he shouts before he completely disappears from sight.
I looked around as my body slowly falls apart, the world looks so peaceful without a war tearing it apart. I released one final roar as I completely disappear from the earth's surface, leaving a large rune shape in the grass where we were standing. the wind softly blowing and the sun shining brightly as the last of my body disappears into nothingness, covering my sight with eternal darkness.

in the middle of Equestria stands the proud capital Canterlot on the side of the tallest mountain within the lands. At the moment princess Celestia and her sister Luna were holding the daily court session with nobles talking about their 'oh so important' problems. Half way the session Celestia wanted to strangle these nobles for wanting more property or that they arrest somepony who only sells his wares on the marked, but according to the noble, his products aren't top quality stuff they are used to. She just told the noble she isn't fond of this talk and dismissed him not a second later.
As she was leaning into her throne, her mind was suddenly pulled from the throne room as she felt a magical surge coming from near the little village Ponyville. Her mind was thinking only one thing. 'Twilight!'
She quickly teleported herself to her privet chambers as she quickly scribbled a message to her student, asking NOT to investigate the surge since it was way too powerful for her to take on if the target is hostile. She knew something was brought here to Equestria, something not from this world. This is the beginning of a new era for her and her ponies.

Deep within the Everfree Forest storm clouds formed around a large clearing, winds picked up and rain poured down towards the ground, soaking the grass and trees surrounding the clearing. Lightning hit the ground several times leaving burn marks on the ground where they hit. The sound of the rain and thunder was interrupted by a blood chilling roar. From the eye of the storm a transparent creature fell from the sky rushing towards the ground at neck breaking speed.
From the looks of it the creature is now unconscious and isn't able to catch itself from falling as it smashes into the earth's surface, leaving a large cloud of dust and a crater as large as the clearing itself. This crash didn't go unnoticed as the it created a small earthquake shaking the very ground of the forest and surrounding villages. Especially the town of Ponyville which lies against the border of the Everfree Forest.
Soon after the earthquake nearly everypony left their houses to avoid being buried in rubble if their house might collapse. Just outside the center of Ponyville is the local library the Golden Oak Library, currently being used as a house for Celestias personal student Twilight Sparkle and her assistant Spike a small teen age dragon with green and purple scales.
Soon after the crash Spike burped up a letter from Celestia.
"Twilight!" He yelled at the purple pony who was standing outside looking at the dust cloud that comes from the Everfree Forest. "Twilight, I got a letter from the princess and it holds the black ribbon." He says as he pants slightly from the running.
Twilight takes the letter from spike as she reads it out loud.
"My faithful student Twilight, I sent you this letter to warn you about the event that occurred in the forest. I forbid you to enter the forest at this moment, do not worry though. Me and Luna will personally investigate the event and be the judge of what happened is hostile or not. I will sent you a letter when we know more. Your mentor and teacher, Princess Celestia."
Spike looks at Twilight as he raises an eyebrow at her not knowing why the princess would forbid her to enter the forest. She is the element of Magic, the strongest unicorn alive! (in his eyes at least)
"Spike, do you have an idea what might have happened?" Twilight asks spike not noticing his look.
"I have no clue Twilight," he replies to her as he shrugs his shoulders. "I did hear a roar before the earthquake, could that mean something LARGE crashed in the Forest?!" he practically yelled as she shoves her hoof on his mouth trying to silence him before he makes her ears bleed.
"It's a possibility Spike, but I need to know for sure." She turns to face Spike again "Spike, gather everypony and meet me at the border of the Everfree Forest. We are going to investigate." Spike salutes as he rushes towards the center of Ponyville to find his first target, Pinkie Pie.
