Maverick dash: the story of the wings and the horn
Maverick Dash
Look, the reason I’m making this is because it’s the only way to get all these brony haters off me. So here it is, who I am, what I do, where I live, and why I’m an alicorn.
First of all, my full legal name is Maverick Johnathon Richardson Dash, but most of my friends and my sister call me Maverick Dash. The reason I got that name was because when I was a filly, I was reckless as hell. Even today I am still reckless when I fly. The reason I’m an alicorn is because, Dashie isn’t my full sister.
During the time leading up to my birth, Alicorns (not counting Celestia or Luna) were plentiful in Equestria. My father, spectrum was a member of the Wonderbolts during the time of the changeling war. He met my mother, dusk storm, during an ambush, and well… they fell in love, what more can I say? Three years later on the ninth of May, I was born. It was supposed to be a happy time for my parents, but dark times were looming over us. About a month later, Queen lightning flare declared that all alicorns, mare or colt, shall be killed. It was a genocide of massive proportions. But thankfully I wasn’t killed. However I wish I could say the same for my mother. The night she died was the night I lived. Guards came into our house and instead of taking her away and then killing her, they killed her right then and there. That left both me and my father to fend for ourselves. Eventually my dad started dating again and met a pretty Pegasus named firefly. When she saw me, she never bothered to question why I was an alicorn, she just loved me all the time.
As time went on, I started to train at the junior speedsters academy in Cloudsdale to harness my flight and learn how to one on one with magic. One day for no apparent reason, I decided to try an airspeed dive all the way to the ground. I went so fast that when I looked behind me, I saw a white and red streak behind me, and a little something on my flank, my cutie mark. it was in the shape of a star with white and red streaks on the sides. (A/N I'm talking about the air force symbol) I couldn’t believe it, neither could my parents. They also had another surprise that almost made me pass out, my stepmother was pregnant. Nine months later on the eighth of august, I said hello to a sky blue, rainbow mane Pegasus, my little sister, Rainbow Dash. It was amazing: I had a cutie mark, a little sister to play with, and a family again. It was great! But like all things, the good times had to end.
About eight years later, the war between the changelings began once more, and my father had to serve again. When he was gone, Firefly lost it. She began to drink cider heavily and one night, she went out, and she never came back. She crashed and burned into the ground and died. My sister and I were heartbroken, and so was my dad. But he couldn’t be there for us, so I had to take care of Dashie all by myself. Luckily, an old academy friend, Icecolt, came over and helped us out. Eventually, I got older and became a member of the wonderbolts, along with Ice. He’s been busy as well since the last time we talked. He now had a wife and a little baby girl that went by the name, Snowdrop. Then it happened, the worst case scenario. One day while I was helping R.D. with flying, two wonderbolts, Sergeant Spitfire, and commander Fleetfoot, approached me and said, “I’m sorry Maverick, but your father was killed in battle in changeling territory. A magi sniper got him.”
When they left, my sister began to sob. I told her that this kind of stuff happens, but she didn’t believe it. We never talked after that, not only because she was in denial, but I had to take my father’s place in the wonderbolts, just to keep food on the table.
So here we are now, on the cloud carrier 271, me and Icecolt defending our freedom and for my sister’s freedom. And if you think being an alicorn makes a wonderbolt easier, I’ll tell you right now, it’s not.
