Looking towards the Sunset

It has been two years since the Dazzlings were defeated and everyone else was off to college and off to new lives all except Sunset Shimmer. She was on her way back to Equestria to ask for forgiveness from Princess Celestia and to finish her training with her she sent a message to Princess Twilight to give to Princess Celestia. So here she was in front of the portal to Equestria,she said her goodbyes to everyone of her friends and packed everything she brought to this world in a bag. She closed her eyes and stepped through the portal and the first thing she noted before opening her eyes was that the ground and air were dry and hot and when she opened them she realized that she was not in Equestria all she saw was dirt and dust for as far as the eye can see. The second thing she noticed was that she had fur and hooves now and she still had her skirt, jacket and blouse. Her bag was still with her as well, good thing to because she could use the book that she used to contact princess Twilight last time.

"Where am I?" she asked to no one in particular. but she looked to her left and saw a sign that read, 'Las Vegas 15 miles'. "What is 'New Vegas' it kind of sounds like Las Pegasus." Then she heard voices and what sounded like the crack of a whip, coming from the next hill over.

One of the voices she heard said, "Move it slaves we have three more days until we reach Cottonwood Cove so move it." she ran up the hill and peeked over to see people like in the other world but different for starters five of them had heavy packs on their backs, no shoes and they had collars on their necks. The last three had either a gun or what looked like a machete and they wore a combination of torn red shirts as well as skirts and shoulder pads with red a 'X' on both sides. Some of them had some weird looking headdresses on while others don't just as she was about to goo back down the hill she was on one of them that she didn't see grabbed her.

"Sir, I found something you might want to see." said the one that grabbed her.

"And what would that be recruit Veralius, it better not be another dead bloatfly the last five times weren't funny and the centurions are not as forgiving like me." said the one that had a dog headdress on. Sunset was then thrown down the hill in front of him.

"I found her watching use from the hill she looks like a horse from one of those books that was in that office building we raided a few days ago."

"Your right and maybe she can carry more weight as well put two packs on her."

"But sir what about the horn on her head what should we do about that." asked the one with a massive sword on his back.

"We'll watch her closely and when we get to Cottonwood cove we'll let the centurion decide what to do about it. But until then keep mov...." he didn't get to finish as his head exploded and then a thunderous sound ripped through the air.

"We are under attack take cover." yelled the one with the sword on his back but he didn't make it to cover before his leg was blown off, he fell to the ground screaming as blood squirted out while he was holding on to his now stub of a leg.

The others all took cover one of the ones with a pack grabbed Sunset and dragged her over to some rocks where the others were hiding. they watched as on of the men in red poked his head out only to have it shot off, then it was quiet. The last one pulled out his machete when he heard foot steps coming closer to them, when they were close enough he charged the unknown assailant but a moment later a shout rang out and the man's head came rolling back. Sunset didn't even notice a man standing in front of her until she saw a pair of boot next to the head of the dead man. she looked up only to see a man in a mask. He walked past her and went to the first man to die and grabbed a set of keys off his body, then walked back to them and unlocked the others callers. He then said, "You might want to get out of here the town of Novac is a few miles when you get there look for a man named Boone or Manny and tell a desert ranger sent you." they all nodded their heads and took off, all but Sunset she sat there and started to cry.

He noticed this and walked over and kneeled down next to her and wrapped her his arms around her and let her cry herself to exhaustion and she tried to stay awake but she couldn't keep her eyes open and was soon loosing consciousness, but before she did he said, "Now where did you come from?" then she passed out completely.

Rowe had seen a lot of weird things out in the wastelands for instance who in the right mind would put a coyote and a rattle snake. But after tracking those Legion slavers never in his whole life would he have thought he would find something like the girl that is currently asleep in his arms. A lot must of happened to her today because she broke down and cried right in his arms until she fell asleep. Now Rowe was walking with her back to base camp which was in the Coyote mines he rigged the entrance with booby traps but he knows how to disable them. After a few hours he got back and set her down on a bedroll and started a fire and started some stew made with gecko and coyote meat. As he cooks he realizes his guest is awake but doesn't say anything but instead takes his helmet off and see what she dose. When he heard her trying to sneak away without turning his head he said, "I wouldn't go out there if I was you. There are worse things there than those slavers."

She froze because he somehow heard her trying to leave and to hear there are worse things out there she stopped to think. He then turned to look at her he was no older than thirty years his face covered in dust and grim from the desert, he had a small Gettysburg style goatee, on top of his head was a low cut Mohawk and finally he had storm cloud gray eyes. They stared at each other for a while until he said, "Come on over and warm up by the fire we can talk while we wait for the stew. My name is Rowe by the way."

"I am Sunset Shimmer, where am I exactly." asked Sunset.

"Well to be specific you are in the coyote mine but in general you are in the Mojave Wasteland." answered Rowe.

Before she could ask another question her stomach growled and Rowe said, "Well I'll make you a deal we eat and get some sleep then come morning I'll answer your questions and you answer mine sound good?"

Sunset nodded not knowing how she would get home and wondered if this Rowe would be able to help.
