Looking towards the Sunset

(Crystal Empire)

The palace was a buzz with all kinds of unicorns to try and find a way to bring Sunset Shimmer as per Celestia's orders. While the Princess do some research themselves. After receiving Sunset's message that she was alive and well was welcome relief, but when she said she was in a place called the 'Mojave Wasteland' that got them very concerned but they decided to wait for her to write them but, what they were more concerned with was the man that she was with she said that she could trust him but they weren't to sure. "How the hay do we know that she is fine with this....man all we is that he could have a gun to her head and told her to write that message to us telling us that she is fine." said Rainbow Dash, "I just don't like it."

"Ah know what you mean RD how do we know that this guy won't just kill her" said Applejack. Everypony was wondering the same thing while the Princesses were all wondering how to get sunset back from this 'Mojave Wasteland'.

"Do you think this man can be trusted sister?" Luna asked, "The elements are right we know so little about him and this 'Wasteland'. How do we even know we can get her home."

"I don't know sister but we must find a way to get her home she deserves that much." said Celestia. Cadence, Shining Armor and Twilight arrived looking exhausted they spent more then half the night looking in the Crystal Empires Royal library trying to find anything that can hint that their might be another portal that Sunset can get back to.

"Did you find anything thing Twilight?"

"Well we didn't find anything in the library about a portal." said Twilight Celestia's ears started to droop, "But we found a book hinting on where we can find it unfortunately it was hidden by King Sombra." Celestia's eyes widened when the mention of King Sombra was brought up.

"Why would he have something like that?"

"Princess, he was trying to other world in which he could enslave and use the inhabitants to fight you and Princess Luna, but you stopped him before he could enter it but not before he could make contact with the inhabitance who also built a machine to look for other worlds as well."

"How do we find this portal and help Sunset find it on her end?" asked Luna

"We need to find Sombra's personal research lab that is where we can find the portal, we can then help her find it on her end but until then she has to stay alive, hopefully."

"Let us hope she can and hope this man is trust worthy." said Celestia.

(Mojave Wasteland)

Sunset woke up to find Rowe some of the stew that he made last night and he had set a plate with carrots and an apple next to her, she ate and stared at Rowe ate. When he was done he pulled out a an M1911 colt .45 and a few magazines and waved for sunset to come over to him she over with a look of uncertainty and he said, " I am not going to hurt you but out here in the wastes you need to be able to defend yourself so I am giving you this" he handed her the pistol and she held it for a while at it, "You do know how to use a gun right?" she nodded and thought back when Applejack taught her how when she was living alone in her apartment in the downtown area.

"Well you should probably change that skirt of yours out for some pants it kind of makes you stick out." Rowe said as he handed her a pair of dusty blue pants and a holster for her pistol, he left while she got dressed. She started thinking one part of her said that she can't kill anybody and the other was saying that you can if you have to. She was very conflicted and she didn't know what to do, after a while she went the way Rowe did and she opened the door at the beginning of the mine and walked out into the blazing sun of the Mojave wasteland.

"You look good in those pants by the way." Rowe said as he was sitting on a rock loading round into a magazine Anti-Material rifle. Sunset blushed at his statement, she always did like wearing jeans as opposed to the skirt but Rarity convinced her that she looked better in it.

"Thanks for compliment, so you said that we are going to find these buddies of yours." said Sunset, Rowe then stood up and nodded and they started walking west.

For a few hours they didn't talk and only listened to the sound of the breeze and the occasional gunfire in the distance. Sunset was taking in the dead land before her eyes and remembered what Rowe had told her about the war two hundred years ago. As they were walking d something over the next hill. Rowe crouched and motioned for Sunset to do the same as they came to top of the hill they saw members of the viper gang holding a caravan hostage. Rowe then pulled out his Anti-Material Rifle and pointed it at the leaders head, he then took the shot and blew the leaders head off but them managed to sneak up on them and tackled Sunset to the ground and they struggled with each others. The Viper was trying to slit her throat with his switch blade, she managed use her magic to stun him and without thinking she pulled her pistol and shot him in the chest twice, he fell back and a pool of blood formed beneath him and all Sunset could do was stare. Rowe had finished dealing with the Vipers when he turned and saw Sunset sitting on the ground staring at the Viper that she killed. he went over and pulled her hug to comfort her for he knew how hard it is to take your first life she just sat there for awhile.

After Sunset little breakdown they helped the caravan to the Mojave Outpost. they walked into the Barracks and found a bar with a group of caravaners and NCR troopers ding cheering as two people were drinking bottle after bottle of whisky one was a woman with dusty blue jeans, brown over shirt, a yellow plaid shirt and a straw hat, she had a double barreled shotgun on back. The other was a man with a long duster over body armor with forest green jeans and combat boots, his steson sat on the bar next to him and his goggles around his neck. He was extremely drunk speaking incoherent sentences, after they both drank the last bottles they both passed out and everyone dispersed. Rowe went and picked the man up and said, "Grab the girl we are staying here tonight." sunset nodded and picked the woman up and as she did so she noticed that some of the troopers that lingered behind were eyeing her like a piece of meat. But they stopped as Rowe looked back at them through his helmet.

That night Sunset wrote to Princess Celestia again, 'Dear Princess, I am writing you to tell you that I am still alive and that we have found one of Rowe's friends currently staying at a outpost. I have also had to take my first life today after a man tried to slit my throat.... I will write to you again soon.' she then put the book away and crawled onto bed and closed her eyes but she couldn't sleep all she could see was the man's face and the faces of her friends and the princesses. She then got out of bed and climbed in with Rowe, he was awake and let her in with him for he knew she was going through a rough time and they slept tough ether that night.
