Pink is a Nightmarish Color

Nightmare Night is over, but not for Pinkie Pie. Being the party pony she is, the moment Celestia rose the sun, she got to work on something she calls 'After Nightmare Night Party.' And she's been working on it ever since. I have a feeling that this will be one hell of a night. I found her invitations to the party funny because for the time when the party begins to when it ends, she wrote:

'The party starts when I tell you the party starts, and it finishes when you are so tired, you can't move anymore.' There was a drawn picture of her smiling at the end.

I was currently sitting on one of the stools outside Sugar Cube Corner in the slightly cold weather under the afternoon sun. The house still had Halloween decorations. Fake webs, giant stuffed spiders, even Jack-O Lanterns were neatly placed against the base of the building. I was actually waiting for Pinkie Pie to give me an ok signal that I can enter the house. As the chilly wind picked up, I zipped up my leather jacket and stuffed my hands in my pockets.

"Well, if it isn't the Horseman of War" a Cajun accented voice said. I turned my head and saw a human a year or two older than me. He has fair skin, but he wore a black cap and the brim was covering his eyes. He had on a black shirt, a silver leather jacket, black pants, white socks, and dark running shoes.

"Remy Brecht" I said as I stood up. "Horseman of Death." The two of us gave each other a friendly hug. "What brings you to Ponyville?" I asked. "I thought you're helping Spitfire." Remy works with Spitfire at the Wonderbolts Academy. His job positions change from being Spitfire's right-hand man, to a guard patrolling the academy, to even standing in front of Spitfire's office door like a bouncer.

"Oh that... Actually I have the day off and I should head back tomorrow." Which brought me to my next question.

"I thought Pegasi can walk on clouds" I said. Remy chuckled.

"You forgot one thing. I'm the Horseman of Death. Pale being my color?" I forgot. Princess Celestia gave us magic that mirrors our colors. Since pale is the Horseman of Death's color, Remy has the power to manipulate smoke or anything close to smoke. Remy created a cloud of smoke and stood on it.

"Yeah, I get it now" I said. Remy stepped down from the smoke cloud he created and with a wave of his hand, the puff of smoke vanished. "So you received Pinkie Pie's invitation, right?" I asked.

"Yep. Got it in the mail."

"I wonder if Chase and Jack got their invitations" I said.

"Actually, Chase is in Canterlot with Princess Twilight Sparkle."

"Didn't they get married already?" I asked.

"No. But they plan to wed around the month of Heart's Warming Eve. And as for Jack, he's still in the Crystal Empire with his adoptive parents."

"I see" I said.

"So what have you been up to?" Remy asked. Before I could answer, a voice cut me off.

"Hi Cale!" A really young male voice called. I turned my head and saw Toby approaching me with Fluttershy walking behind him. I crouched down so that I was leveled with him.

"Hey Toby, how are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm good" he said. He then noticed Remy standing behind me.

"Who's that?" He asked. Fluttershy grinned.

"Hello Remy" she greeted. Remy tipped the brim of his cap.

"Fluttershy" he returned the greeting. "So this is Toby, huh?" He asked. He walked up to Toby and crouched down so he was leveled with him. "My name's Remy, and Cale told me all about you."

"He has?" Toby asked.

"I sent him letters" I added.

"Are you from around Ponyville?" He asked. Remy chuckled.

"It's a long story" he answered. I'll tell it to you one day." Fluttershy turned to me.

"Cale, is Pinkie still preparing the party?"

"Yeah. I actually helped her with a few things for the party and then she sent me outside so that I wouldn't see the other things she has planned." Fluttershy nodded with understanding. "Don't know when she plans to announce that her party is ready." I glanced down at Toby and grinned. "All right, Toby I'll see you later" I said as I extended my hand towards him.

"Ok" he said. But as he shook my hand, I felt a light jolt.

"What the--" I gasped. Toby giggled as he showed me what he had in his hand. A palm shocker.

"Aww, you got tricked" Remy laughed as he got to his feet. Toby laughed as he sprinted off.

"Shut it, Remy!" I shouted. I couldn't help but laugh as I chased the trickster down the streets of Ponyville. Remy shook his head, still smiling at what happened.

"Has Toby tricked Cale like that before?" He asked. Fluttershy nodded.

While I continued to chase Toby, I tripped over my own feet and sprawled face down on the ground. The thing with the pranks and gags here on Ponyville, pull them on someone on Earth, they'll be annoyed. But here on Ponyville, every prank ends with laugh, including the old gags on Earth. Even the victim finds themselves laughing. Like me. Even though I was sprawled in the middle of the street, I was still laughing at the trick Toby pulled. I got to my feet and brushed dirt off me, my laugh slowly coming to a stop. I glanced at the direction Toby had ran off to and saw that he was hanging out with the CMC. I turned around and headed back over to Pinkie Pie's house. However, when I arrived, Remy was gone.

"Oh, sorry Cale" Fluttershy apologized. "But Remy went to have a walk around Ponyville."

"That's ok" I said. "I'll see him at Pinkie's party." Fluttershy looked around worriedly. I knew who she was looking for. "It's ok. Toby's with the CMC."

"Oh, thanks for telling me" she said in a relieved tone. "I was wondering where he went." Before I could say anything else, Flutterbat tackled me from the side, pinning me on the ground, flat on my back. I groaned from the rough impact.

"I hate it when you do that" I moaned. Flutterbat let out her hissed laugh, baring her small fangs. Fluttershy put a hoof to her mouth to hide her smile. She then turned around to leave. "Now wait a minute" I said as I sat up. "You're not planning to leave me with..." Grinning, Flutterbat pushed me back down on the ground. "Yeah, ok" I said, giving up already. It is pointless to argue with a batpony. Especially when her dialogue consists of noises and occasional facial expressions. She leaned forward, almost close to my face. So close in fact, I could smell apples from her breath as she began to breathe shallowly. Before our lips met, someone cleared his throat. Turning our heads slightly to the right, Remy stood their with his arms crossed.

"Yeah, this right here" he said, gesturing to us. "Not really a good place to do that. Especially when there are fillies and colts around." Flutterbat got off me so I could get up.

"You like sucking the joy out of everything" I said as I got up.

"No, I like preventing the young ones from seeing dirty things like what you and Flutterbat were about to do."

"Wait a minute, how do you know about Flutterbat."

"Pinkie Pie told me."

"In the invitation?"

"No. She needed help with something."

"Which is?"

"Helping her double check everything so the party will go smoothly. The party is about to start. Oh, and Toby said he has a treat for you. He felt bad about tricking you so he wanted to make it up by giving you a treat."

"Where is he?" I asked.

"He's with Silver Spoon." I didn't know what to do, help Pinkie Pie with her errand or go to Toby who's probably wondering why I'm not showing up. Although I couldn't see it, Remy somehow saw my expression. "Don't worry, I'll tell Pinkie Pie you got caught up with something."

"Thanks" I said before sprinting off. Remy turned to Flutterbat.

"Wanna go with me and help Pinkie Pie with the party setting?" He asked. She gave him a nod and fluttered behind him as he sprinted towards Pinkie Pie's house.

When I arrived at the school, not only did I see Toby and Silver Spoon, but I was completely out of breath. "Hey Cale" Toby greeted. I can only let out a wheezed noise as a reply. I knew running as fast as I could was a bad idea. I should've taken it slow. After taking steady breaths, I was able to talk again.

"I was told you were sorry for pulling a trick on me."

"Yeah" he said shamefully. "And I wanted to apologize by giving you this." He held up a small beige pouch tied with red string. I took the pouch and shook it. I heard some clattering and my eyes lit up.

"Candies?" I asked. "Awe, you shouldn't have. Thanks bud" I said, leveling with him to give him a hug.

"Open it" Silver Spoon urged. Before I could, Remy's voice called out.

"Hey Cale! Pinkie Pie's party is ready!"

"I'll open it after the party" I said.

"Ok" Toby said with a smile. I wonder what he gave me.
