Pink is a Nightmarish Color
"What Did You See?" Pt. 2
Previous ChapterI was standing near the entrance of Ponyville looking at the brightly lit moon the Princess of the Night has risen. The chilly winds are starting to pick up, but that didn't really bother me. I was so mesemerized by the moon, I didn't hear Flutterbat approaching me from behind. That soft hiss was enough to startle me. I cried out and turned around. "Oh, hey Flutterbat" I said. "Nice night, right?" I asked. I rubbed the spot on my neck where she bit me during the party. "I've been meaning to ask, why did you suck my blood in the public? Because normally you do it when we're alone."
She responded by making a series of soft hisses.
"Oh... The smell of the apple tempted you to do it huh?" I asked. She nodded. "Where's Lightning Dust and Fluttershy?" Another series of hisses. "Wait, what? They left Toby?!" Before I could run, she placed a forehoof on me and shook her head, hissing again. "Oh he's with Remy" I said with relief. "That's good. They're cleaning up right?" She nodded her head. I just hope that...
"Hey Cale" A voice said. I turned my head and saw Remy approaching me with Toby. "Some party, right?" He asked. Something was definitely wrong but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Yeah some party" I answered. "Is something wrong?" I asked.
"No, no... Everything is fine" he answered quickly. I could see him shaking a little.
"How's Pinkie Pie holding up?" I asked. As soon as I said this, Toby crouched down, shut his eyes, and clamped his hands over his ears. He began whimpering. Flutterbat flew over to him and wrapped her wings and forehooves around him.
"Remy?" I asked. "What the hell did Toby see?"
"Um... You know how you warned me about Pinkie Pie and I didn't believe you?" He asked. "Well. I believe you now." I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Oh my God, Remy, I told you not to bring Toby along."
"I know, I know... But to be honest..."
"Is this an excuse or an explanation?" I asked. "Because I want the explanation."
"Ok, Toby and I were cleaning up. And then.... We saw...." He shuddered a little.
"Remy... What the fuck did you see?"
"Well..."
Flashback
"Finished" Remy sighed after putting the leftover cider in the fridge. "You all right there, Toby?"
"Yeah, Remy, I'm ok" the young human said after he out the candies in a large cupboard. Remy looked at the clock and saw that it was getting late.
"Ooh, it's getting late" he said. "I told Fluttershy not to keep you up too late, we gotta get you home."
"Ok" he said. As they headed towards the door, Toby stopped for a moment and looked around. Remy stopped also and turned his head.
"Toby? Are you ok?" He asked.
"I'm... I'm a little worried about Auntie Pinkie Pie" he said. "She seemed pretty sad earlier. Should we see if she's ok?"
"I'm sure she's fine, Toby" he said, remembering my warning. "Come on, let's get you home."
"But I want to see if she's ok. She could still be crying. He then headed up the stairs.
"Toby, wait, wait!" Remy called as he chased the youngster up the stairs. "Pinkie Pie may want to be alone, we shouldn't bother her." Toby stopped by Pinkie Pie's door and knocked softly.
"Auntie Pinkie Pie? It's me Toby... Are you ok?" From inside, he didn't hear sobs, or crying... Not even a whimper nor a sniffle. Instead, he heard giggling. Toby had a confused look on his face. Just then, he heard Remy come up the stairs.
"Toby?" He asked. "What is it?"
"She's laughing" he answered.
"What?" Remy asked.
"Auntie Pinkie Pie is laughing. I think she's happy again." Remy approached the door and pressed his ear against it. He heard giggling and laughing coming from the inside.
"This is fun, isn't it?" They heard Pinkie Pie ask.
"It sure is" a deep monotoned voice answered. Except that deep voice also came from Pinkie Pie.
"See?" Toby asked. "She's happy."
"Toby?" Remy asked. "I don't think Pinkie Pie is happy" he said.
"But she's laughing and giggling. Plus she said 'fun'." Remy opened the door a little and peeked. "Look Remy she's.... Having.... Fun...." Toby was now at a loss for words. The same thing with Remy.
Pinkie Pie was on siting on her bed surrounded by piles and piles of rock candies. Across from her was another pile of rock candies, only this one had a makeshift necklace around its 'neck'. "I was hoping I would do this after the party with Maud Pie!" Pinkie Pie's mane and tail were full straight, and she had lost all bright pink color. She had really wide eyes and a very wide smile.
She then moved next to the giant rock pile across from her. "I'm sorry your sister couldn't make it" Pinkie Pie said, providing the voice of the rock pile.
"Oh don't worry about her" she said in her regular voice. "She'd rather spend all day in her rock farm than with me! I'm sure she's having more fun there!"
"Am I more fun than your sister?"
"Of course! You're like the sister I never had!"
Remy and Toby had enough. Remy closed the door and picked up a really frightened Toby. "Come on" he whispered. "Let's get out of here."
Present
"Which leads to where we are now" Remy finished.
"I warned you" I said.
"I know, and I should've listened."
"Well, too late now. Now Toby won't even talk to her, he probably never wants to see her again, hell, he probably never wants to eat anything she bakes." I walked past him.
"Hold on, where are you going?"
"To calm her down" I answered.
"How do you plan to...?" I gave him look. "Right, right... I should've spent more time here."
"Damn right." I headed back to Sugarcube Corner.
I opened the door and marched up the stairs, no longer frightened with her. "Pinkamena Diane Pie?" I called. "Pinkamena Diane Pie! You and I need to have a talk!" I walked over to her room and opened the door. True to Remy's story, she was making necklaces out of rock candies with a large pile rock candies across from her.
"Go away!" She snapped. "My sister and I are making rock candies.... But you can join us if you want."
"This is getting ridiculous" I muttered to myself. "Look you really got to stop."
"Why?! My sister didn't want to come! She'd rather spend time in the rock farm where I came from instead of being here with me! She doesn't care about me!" I was starting to lose it.
"You don't know that!"
"Then why isn't she here?!"
"I don't know..." I said.
"Ha!" She laughed. "So I'm right, she doesn't care about me!"
"Do you know how many siblings I have?!" I asked, about to make a point. Though I don't know how good this will do.
"No."
"NONE!!!" Pinkie Pie looked at me shocked, but her mane and tail were still down.
"What?" She asked. I sighed, moved some rock candies aside and sat on the bed.
"You still have a sister that cares about you... She might have her reason why she didn't come. There's probably a delay, I don't know. But she still does care for you. Me on the other hand, I used to have a family, but now I don't. I don't have a family anymore, ok? But you do. So if you think you're having it rough that your sister didn't show up, look at my predicament. No loving family, no brother or sister to be with... All I got now are friends. Friends are the only family I have left. For 9 years... 9 whole fucking years, I didn't have a family!" I started to break down, crying. "I'll never experience a loving family again." Pinkie Pie placed a hoof on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry Cale, I didn't know..."
"Well now you do. But there's one other apology you have to make."
"To who?"
"Toby. He tried to comfort you, but this scenario you were doing frightened him so much, the mention of your name scares him."
"I scared him that much?" I nodded.
"It may not be enough to scare a man like me" 'bullshit' I thought to myself. "But it sure was enough to scare him."
"Where is he?" She asked.
"Fluttershy's cottage. But good luck trying to talk to him.
"Let's go together and cheer him up."
"Ok... But I don't know what good it'll do."
