Shadows in the North - A Sundering of Equestria Tale

The terrible war that has divided and devastated Equestria for over a decade is finally drawing to a close, but in the frozen north of the country a new threat is emerging. Six individuals find themselves alone and in great danger after each of their forces are slaughtered by mysterious shadow-creatures none of them have ever seen before. In order to merely survive, they must put aside their differences - easier for some than others - and work off each other's talents, skills and strengths to discover the origin of this new and seemingly-unbeatable foe.
What they will discover will shake each of them to their core, and reveal a danger greater than any of them could ever have imagined.

Set in the Sundering of Equestria universe, in which a war thirty years in Equestria's future is tearing the country apart. For the background of this, or for those that love history (like myself), I would like to direct you to The Sundering of Equestria - A Future History. Let the verbose Saddle-Arabian historian Al-Manākh talk you through the events of the war, and if you look closely you might even spot references to the events and characters of this story in his transcripts. Word count warning, though.

Note: there is a bit of gore in the opening chapter of this, but for the most part remains generally gore-free afterwards.
