I’m The Only One

Nightmare Moon waited, she was rather good at waiting ,she was also good at watching, but one gets good at those things when all you really are is a voice in some ponies mind after all. She watched as Luna stared at Twilight Sparkle ,she could feel Luna’s desire, her longing for Twilight. Twilight was currently cuddled up close to Luna as the pair sat on a grassy knoll outside of Ponyville for their weekly star viewing sessions that had slowly started to feel more like dates as the two explored their feelings for one another by the light of Luna’s moon.

Nightmare scoffed to herself,“go ahead and hold her till the screaming is gone“ she thought, she knew of Luna’s issues,her personal demons that predated even Nightmare,she accepted that about Luna long ago even drowning in her desire for her so far as to even want to bring about night eternal so many years ago and yet again not 4 years ago.Her eyes twitched she felt Luna’s hooves trailing over Twilight Sparkle’s back,she felt the ache of Luna’s heart looking for someone that give her the peace and love that she had missed for many years. Nightmare’s own feelings were ones of jealousy and naked abandonment she felt as the mare that she had nurtured,cared for, and kept safe lay in the hooves in another mare, Yet she felt no ill will towards Twilight or any of the Element Bearers for they had kept her from taking her eagerness to appease Luna’s demons to their end. Let Luna run away from her pain, let her cry in the arms of a mare that cared for her, Nightmare knew it wouldn’t last, she had been down this road with her other half a few times before and it always played the same,Luna would fall head over heels for a mare and things would go good for a bit till the other mare grew tired of fostering Luna’s feelings of resentment and jealousy and soon Luna would be left alone,waiting for Nightmare to come back to save her before she did something she couldn't go back on.

Luna had been jealous of Celestia for far longer than most ponies, even her sister had known about, she let it fester and feed on her resentment till took the form of somepony who would never leave her,never hold her down like her sister had,and never would forget her like the ponies of Equestria had,But over time she grew afraid of the Nightmare that she had created and sought to comfort herself in the arms of other mares,promising herself each time that she was done with Nightmare Moon for good.She promised herself the same thing as she held Twilight in her hooves,letting them wander over the unicorn who was leaning in to kiss Luna on the lip’s but Luna paused for a split second as she heard her Nightmare self speak in their shared mind “I'm the only one for you dear Luna” was all that she said and she went quiet.

“Maybe this time she’s the one” Was all that Luna said after her kiss with Twilight .

“What was that Luna?” Twilight looked around to see who Luna was talking to but seen nopony but her and her new low,she hugged Luna as she waited her reply.

“Just making a promise to an old friend that this time I intend to keep.”
