//-------------------------------------------------------// Anti-Pegasi Club -by Skybelle- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Vinyl Scratch //-------------------------------------------------------// Vinyl Scratch Hey. The names Vinyl. I'm basically just the best dj in Equestria! Yup, that's me. I've played songs in almost every state. Even Canterlot Castle. I heard that in a different world, I totally saved Twilight and her friends at some school talent show. Without me, the world would be totally off beat. I should tell ya all I can before my roommate Octavia gets home. First, she's gonna tell me what a mess I've made. Then, she'll tell me to turn my music down. Then, she'll ask me about my day. And then, she'll wanna tell me about her day! Ugh. But you gotta love her. She's probably the reason I haven't gotten eaten up by a pile of trash by now. * * * "Vinyl, I'm home!" "'Kay, I'm over here." "Over where?" "Over here!" Octavia shut the door and stepped over small piles of trash in the apartment. Two sets of Vinyl's headphones laid on a floor in each room, along with some sort of musical device and a half-eaten hayburger. When Octavia finally found Vinyl, she tripped on some spilled soda. "Vinyl! You could have just said you were in the kitchen!" she said as she got up. "Bla, bla, bla," Vinyl laughed, and offered Octavia a hoof. "I'm fine," Octavia huffed. "But now I'm all wet. I have to go change now." "All you're wearing  is a scarf- you know, never mind." Octavia growled and mumbled something into her scarf, storming off into their bedroom. Vinyl sighed, rolled her eyes, and got back to doing the dishes. There weren't that many dishes, since they mostly used paper plates, but Octavia encouraged them to clean them every day. As soon as Vinyl was done, she quickly set herself up at her music station in the living room. She equipped a set of headphones, slipped on her shades, and turned up the volume to "blasting." She could hear Octavia yelling to turn it down at the tip of her eardrums, but she ignored her. She let that "Dj Pon 3" smile come across her face as she moved her head up and down to the beat. "Vinyl!" Vinyl kept moving her hooves back and fourth across her records, creating that scratch that she was born to make. Sometimes Vinyl was so into her music, that not even sirens could control her- literally. Once there was a fire in there apartment, and Vinyl found out by opening her eyes to a burnt up Octavia trotting into the room. Vinyl couldn't help laughing, since Octavia's mane was burnt on one half. She didn't care is she was going to get a one hour lecture from Octavia. She couldn't help laughing her heart out. Vinyl's shades were off and she laughed until Octavia's face was red and there was steam coming out of her ears. Vinyl then coughed into her hoof and helped Octavia clean up the mess. "Why didn't ya just call the fire department?" Vinyl sighed. "I did." Octavia gestured her hoof to the two stallions standing behind her. "H-how?" "You were probably too busy listening to those silly remixes of yours." Octavia rolled her eyes and began to sweep. "You two can, uh, go now." Vinyl said awkwardly to the two fire stallions. Octavia shook her head, and turned to the stallions. "Thank you for your services, good day!" she fake smiled, until they were out the door. Then she gave Vinyl her serious look. It was honestly a really funny look. Octavia dropped the broom and gave it a small kick, making it slide up to Vinyl's legs. Vinyl gave her a "Nooo, are you serious?" look, and Octavia nodded. Then, she fluffed her half-burnt mane and sashayed out of the kitchen. Vinyl put a hoof over her mouth. As soon as Octavia left the room, Vinyl burst into laughter, falling onto the floor. Octavia growled loudly so that Vinyl could hear, and began to play her cello. Boy, was she good at playing the cello. One day, Octavia was in her their room practicing the cello, while Vinyl was at some gig at a tour in Las Pegasus. She wouldn't be home in a week, so Octavia spent most of her time playing the cello in peace.Though Octavia liked how it was quiet for once, she felt lonely. She missed her annoying roommate. Meanwhile, Vinyl was playing remixes at several events in Las Pegasus. Vinyl didn't think much during her performances, just getting lost in the beat and winging it. But by the time she was done with her performances, she would think of Octavia. Sometimes she would take out her MP3 player and put together mini remixes of classical music to remind her of Octavia. Vinyl was a pretty hard-core trooper, like Rainbow dash, but she loved and missed Octavia. They were like sisters- but at the same time, they were like complete opposites. They were like fire and a candle. They were like Applejack and Rarity. But they both had two things in common that brought them together. Their love for music, and each other. Even Vinyl knew that. Of course she wouldn't say it though, being sure not to give away her inner softness. If she were to be a pegasus, she would be Rainbow Dash. Hard-core and brave. Loyal to her friends. Though she would like to be Rainbow, she wouldn't want that pegasus to be part of her and Octavia's little friendship. She wanted it to be just the two of them, so she wouldn't become a third wheel- so she wouldn't be replaced. Vinyl wanted to be well-known as two things. Dj Pon 3, best Dj in Equestria, and Octavia Melody's best friend. When Vinyl did something to upset Octavia, (which she did practically three times a day) Octavia would usually forgive her by evening. I mean, best friends always come around for each other, even if it takes a while sometimes. Vinyl knew that even if Octavia can be a stubborn mule and a grumpy cat, Octavia would always be the best friend a unicorn could have in her eyes. The only problem was that Vinyl sometimes wondered if Octavia thought the same. Sometimes Octavia didn't spend Friday nights with Vinyl. Sometimes she spent her nights with her orchestra group, or with some friends Vinyl didn't know. Vinyl didn't always care about that, but it happened more and more often. One day, Vinyl was stupid. Very, very stupid. "Hello, Vinyl, I'm home!" shouted Octavia as she walked through the door of their apartment. "Hey Tavi, what's up?" Vinyl responded, removing her headphones and getting up to greet her. "Well I just had a performance at the theatre, and, I'm going to go out with a few of my friends later." "Oh.. I thought maybe we could go out tonight- But, um, that's fine." Vinyl said, crossing her legs, not looking Octavia in the eyes. "I didn't really care about going out anyways." Octavia was shocked by Vinyl's rude response. "Well! I guess if you don't want to go out to dinner, I can stay with my friends all afternoon!" "Wait, you-" Vinyl started. "Yes! I was going to leave early so I could spend time with you! But I guess if you don't care for our friday outings, then we don't have to have them anymore!" Octavia threw her bag down, hung up her scarf neatly, and stomped into their room, shutting and locking the door behind her. "Hey, ya know that's my room too!" Vinyl shouted at the closed door. Since Octavia was a goody-goody, she was home by 8:30 exactly. "Umm, I'm home, Vinyl." she said quietly as she came home, searching the room for Vinyl. When she couldn't find Vinyl, she finally looked into their bedroom where she found Vinyl brushing her mane. "Hi Vinyl, what are you up to?" she smiled, sitting down next to her. Vinyl huffed. "Vinyl, I'm sorry about before. Do you still wanna go out tonight?" Octavia asked, twirling her scarf around her hoof. "Oh, me? I'm fine. And, uh.. sorry. I've already made plans for tonight." "Y-you made plans already?" "Yup." "Well you see, I've made reservations-" "Well sometimes things don't go your way Octavia!" Vinyl put down the brush. They were silent for a moment. "Well I gotta go." Vinyl stood up and began to leave the room. "You'll be back by... 10?" Vinyl looked back as she walked through the doorway. "Prolly 11.." she shut the door behind her. Vinyl got into a cab and headed straight to Manehattan. As soon as the long ride was over, she hopped out and walked into the nearest bar. She lied to Octavia. She didn't really have plans. She just wanted to make her feel bad. And she did wanna go find a bar and just forget about all the fighting and stress. So it wasn't completely a lie, right? A tall stallion with a light blue coat and an Orange mane came up to Vinyl. "Hey." he said. "Hii." The stallion looked down at Vinyl's empty cups. "Wow- you drank a lot of cider." "And what gives YOU the right to tell me what I can and CANNOT DO, eh!?" Then Vinyl began to laugh. She then got the hiccups. She just laughed and hiccuped in front of this confused stallion, until she eventually fell on to him. Then she fell asleep. "W-where am I?" Vinyl got up from a small leather couch and looked around the room. "Hey, it's me, the stallion from the bar. You looked pretty drunk so I drove you to my place." "Okay..." Vinyl looked awkwardly at the stallion. "Oh no... Oh no!" Vinyl got up and looked at his TV, which showed the time. "Oh Celestia, I should be home by now!" "It's alright!" the stallion tried to comfort Vinyl. "I don't mind if you stay." Vinyl gave him a What-tha-flock-are-you-talking-about-I-just-met-you-literally look. Then she remembered she was mad at Octavia. "Sure- I'll stay and hang out" "Great, by the way, my name is Four Leaf." "You mean like the lucky kind?" Vinyl giggled. "Yup," Four Leaf chuckled. "very lucky." Four Leaf lead Vinyl into another room and shut the door. Vinyl quietly opened the door, and slowly headed towards the kitchen. She was sober, but very hungry. She opened the fridge and levitated a piece of cake. She headed for there room when the lights turned on. Vinyl shut her eyes tightly and turned around. "Vinyl Scratch!" "Hiiiii Octavia. *cough cough*" "What do you think you're doing?" "Getting cake?" "Oh yes, yes. That, and coming home at freaking 1:00 in the morning!!" Octavia shouted angrily. "Hey, you can't tell me what to do!" "Oh! Well obviously I can't!" Octavia began to walk into their room. "Don't bother trying to explain, Vinyl. I don't care! I'm done with you and your attitude! I'm done!" Octavia shut the door behind her, and locked it as well. "Where should I sleep!?" "ON THE COUCH." Vinyl sighed, and slept until 6:00 in the morning. She woke up to the sound of Octavia's cello. It was really pretty, so she went into their room. Octavia had unlocked it to get a drink of water earlier. Octavia heard the creak of the door opening and stopped playing. "Hi Octavia." Vinyl tried. "Hello. What are your plans for today?" "Well I got a reservation for this place..." "Oh. Of course. I shouldn't have asked-" "And I payed the guy extra for him to get us seats on the balcony." "U-us?" Vinyl nodded. Come on Octavia, are you getting it? Octavia smiled. "Ugh. I should still be mad at you." she growled. "Don't be stubborn, let's go already." "No!" "What!?" Vinyl said in shock. "Vinyl- it's 6:00 in the morning..." "Oh." Vinyl ran her hoof through her mane. Vinyl sat down next to Octavia. "I'm still mad at you Vinyl." Octavia said again, making sure she made a point. "I know, Tavi, I know." Vinyl put her hooves around Octavia. "You know, I'm pretty lucky." she said. "Oh, why? Hook up with some stallion while you were gone?" "Trueee, but back to my point- I am very lucky to have a friend like you." "Oh!" Octavia's face lit up. "Why don't I make some soup!" "I hate your soup!!" Vinyl shouted as Octavia scurried into the kitchen. Vinyl fell over onto the bed. She sighed, smiling. "Oh Octavia, you and your soup." * * * So, that's a few things that have happened with me and Octavia. Ugh, it's a lot of work having a roommate! And what she doesn't understand, is that It takes effort to make a mess! And then she goes and cleans it up, taking all the credit for my mess! It was an organized mess!
