//-------------------------------------------------------// Tuesday is for Tacos -by criketsnipa- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A New Start //-------------------------------------------------------// A New Start A chilly autumn wind blew through the crisp air that morning. Rainbow dash shivered, he rainbow locks blowing right into her eyes. Brushing them away and kicked herself for her choice of wardrobe today, again. She knew wearing a skirt with undershorts wasn’t going to be enough today, but she didn’t think she was ready to bring out the long pants. ‘It just isn’t my style ya know?’ she thought to herself as she walked towards the entrance of Canterlot High school. ‘A hair band would be petty awesome right now though’. She hadn’t had to coach practice that morning, and had decided to sleep in later than usual due to the fact that today was monday. Rainbow hated mondays. She had graduated last year, but was still sticking around to keep the athletic teams in shape. ‘They couldn’t live without her after all’, she giggled to herself, remembering Celestia asking her over the summer if she could do so. She was there today to set up for the soccer team’s practice after school, she was going to put them through the ringer since they had a big game this friday.  As she walked up towards the entrance she noticed a lone figure standing by the door. As Rainbow got closer she saw that she recognized this person. She immediately saw that this was Sonata dusk, her long blue ponytail a dead give away. Filled with anger she yelled out to her “Hey! You!” she called. Filled with thoughts of vengeance and righteous fury she began to stomp her way towards her. Sonata spun around, her face a mask of terror. She stood frozen as Rainbow stormed towards her. When she got within arms reach, Sonata threw her hand in front of her face and screamed “Don’t Rainbow me again! I’ve been a good girl I promise!”. Taken aback, Rainbow reevaluated her opponent. Sonata was afraid of her, as in actually afraid. She closed her eyes and calmed herself. After taking a deep breath she opened her eyes again to find Sonata peaking threw her fingers at her. “You aren’t here to get revenge on me or my friends?”, she asked, looking at her skeptically. Sonata looked at Rainbow fearfully again and managed to squeak out “N-n-n-no! of course not!”. Rainbow reached out and gently grasped Sonata’s wrists, careful not to grab the spiked bracelets, and pulled her arms out of her face. Sonata flinched at her touch, but once she felt how careful Rainbow was being with her, let her arms move slowly to her sides. When Rainbow let go they stood facing each other awkwardly. “Okay then.”, Rainbow said, breaking the silence. She looked sonata dead in her pink eyes, which were actually pretty close to the same color as hers. ‘Which is pretty awesome’ she thought to herself. Pushing away the thought she said “Alright start talkin’. What are you doing here and no I won’t rainbow you again, unless you really are up to no good” she assured. Sonata looked at her, still a little fearful. Rainbow gave her a gentle smile, which was apparently all Sonata needed to spill the beans. “I am here to begin my first like REAL day of highschool,” she said, with a little excitement dancing over her features.” I never got any chance at like a real education so I asked principal Celestia if I could give it another shot and  she said.” She paused clearing her throat, putting on her best Celestia impression, which just so happened to be awful, hilariously awful in fact. “That anyone deserves an education if they are willing to learn” switching back to her normal voice “And then like totally signed to papers for me to officially go here. The only problem is like I have to start as a freshman.” she finished. Rainbow was giggling at her and it was obvious that Sonata could not figure out why. “Heyyyy! What’s so funny! I am being serious here!” she looked at Rainbow can crossed her arms indignantly. “Nothing!” She managed out between laughs “That was just the WORST impression of principal Celestia I have EVER heard!”, finally just breaking down into full laughs. Sonata smiled, seeming pretty happy at the fact that she had gotten Rainbow to laugh at her antics. “Yeah i guess it was pretty bad wasn’t it?” she said giggling to herself. As they got the last of their giggles out, mostly Rainbow’s, they straightened up they smiled at each other. “What about the other two? I thought you guys were always together or something.” Sonata looked down and said “You probably won’t see them again. At least for a long time. They are too busy being all mopey and stuff at home to do anything.” She looked up at Rainbow nervously trying to gauge her reaction. Rainbow looked at her with a raised eyebrow, “What about you? Why aren’t you being all mopey and stuff?”. “Well, I got bored with that ya know? I wasn’t really into this plan thing from the start I just kinda went with it, like I always did.” She turned to look at the school. “And I decided that I wanted to actually learn stuff, I am tired of being the one that is called dumb all of the time.” “I dunno Sonata… I’m not sure everyone will be so forgiving so soon…” Rainbow cautioned. Sonata turned back to face her, a determination burning in her eyes that surprised Rainbow. “I will do what it takes!” She proclaimed loudly, ”I want this more than anything, like ever!”. Impressed Rainbow said “I mean if that’s what you want.” with a shrug. She threw her arm around Sonata’s shoulder. “I like your spunk kid, now how’s ‘bout I show you around this place?”. As she pulled Sonata through doors she thought to herself about how she still wasn’t so sure about Sonata, but was going to be sure to find out if she was up to anything.
