Spoilers from the Season 2 Finale! (for the whole 5 people who haven’t watched it.) Keep in mind; I am not attempting to pass anything here off as fanon. It’s all just based on facts to keep it interesting.

Light shone in through the cracked roof of the ancient temple. Moss traveled along the once-ornate pillars, and vines hung down from the dusty ceiling. Most ponies considered this old ruin just an abandoned memory of the past, but a certain unicorn thought differently. Of course, none other than Twilight Sparkle was reading an ancient text in the middle or a crumbling ruin. She was reading about the strange crystal mines beneath Canterlot, and their supposed connection to the Elements of Harmony. According to this book, the elements were made of crystals only found in the mines. She found the book while touring the temple, reliving her first day in Ponyville for one of her lists. The book was one of the only intact books in an entire library full of burned, decayed, and destroyed tomes. She closed the book and made a note to travel to Canterlot and investigate these crystals immediately. As she left the ancient library, she tripped on a loose stone. A large section of the bookcase slid into the floor to reveal a strange engraving on the wall behind it. It demonstrated the altar that the stone Elements were placed on, but instead of stone, the depictions of the elements were made of six different colored crystals.

“Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple… Does this have any connection with…? No, it couldn’t be. This has to be more than 2000 years old. Hmm… It looks like I have to place the crystals in the altar… and… a light comes from the ceiling? Oh well, maybe it has some sort of ancient wisdom that’s revealed! Maybe a cure for some rare disease or a new spell! Oh, I can’t wait! I have to get to Canterlot immediately!” Twilight exited the dusty temple and ran as fast as she could through the path her friends had followed what seemed like years ago. The old bridge, the river, and the chasm were all soon far behind her as she exited the forest into the bustling town of Ponyville. Her lavender coat shimmered in the newfound sunlight, and her purple mane blew behind her as the wind moved against her.

She burst into the library and called, “Spike? I need you to send a letter immediately.”
Spike groaned from upstairs and groggily shambled down the wooden steps. He carried his blankey in one hand and a quill and paper in the other. “Ready when you are...”

“Dear Princess Celestia,

In my studies of equestrian history, I have come across a strange tome detailing an old ritual conducted over 2000 years ago. I plan to mount an expedition into Canterlot’s abandoned jewel mines in order to find six crystals that may possess an ancient link to the Elements of Harmony. I’ll need…”

“…And 20 Sunflower Sandwiches. That covers the whole thing.” Twilight checked off the last item on her supplies checklist, now fully prepared to venture into the crystal mines. Celestia stood next to her, slightly apprehensive of such a dangerous journey.

“My faithful student, surely you can think of something less… dangerous, then venturing into the unexplored crystal mines? Maybe you could read the new Daring Do or whatever it is that book’s called. I’m worried for… your safety.”

“I saved Canterlot while I was lost in there, I’m sure it won’t be hard to find six different. gems.”

“Well… I guess I can’t stop you.”

“Princess, think of all the opportunities my findings may present! Maybe a cure for some disease, or a vast cache of riches to donate to charity!”

“I wouldn’t get your hopes up, but alright. You’d better go, before the nobles get suspicious of a small caravan moving into what appears to be a hole in a cliff.”

Twiiiliiiight!” Twilight and Celestia turned to Rarity wearing what else but an ornate jewel encrusted miner’s helmet. “I found the right hat, and it doesn’t ruin my hair unlike the others. I can’t tell you how happy I am to be hunting for rare gems with you!”

“You know I wouldn’t dream of going gem hunting without you.”

“And that’s why we’re such good friends. Now, let’s get moving. Ooh, I can’t wait!”

Twilight and Rarity hauled their small carts into the cave entrance, which was covered with a guard station after her brother’s marriage. The mine tracks served as a decent path while the two Unicorns lit the surrounding cave. Soon enough, Rarity came across a rich, red crystal.

“Oh Twilight, I think I found one.” Twilight came over, and took a significant chunk of the crystal. “Are you sure this isn’t just a Ruby?”

“I’m sure. To be honest, though, a full set would probably be worth a lot.” Rarity nodded, and took the half of the remainder of the crystal. It didn’t take long until they had each of the six crystals they needed. Rarity tried taking the crystal walls, only to find out that it was mostly Quartz. As they left, Twilight could still trace times when the modern track intersected with her and Cadence’s escape route during the wedding. She made a mental note to visit them when they got back from their honeymoon. Before she reached the exit, she noticed a strange crystal. Every facet of it was a different color. Rarity was practically drooling over it, while Twilight pulled out a book on rare minerals. “It’s called Titanium Quartz. It’s been chemically fused with the cave walls. This crystal looks… amazing…” Twilight and Rarity both took a large chunk of the mysterious crystal, and left the cavern. They emerged from the cave to see a slightly more nervous Princess Celestia, a small force of Royal Guards, and a few Canterlot Nobles who wanted to see what gems could be obtained from the caverns. They oohed and aahed at the two carts full of the chromatic crystals, but sat in silence as they witnessed the Titanium Quartz levitate out of the narrow cave entrance. Celestia was less concerned and more surprised when it entered her view.

“Twilight… Rarity… is that… Titanium Quartz?”

“Why yes, Princess. Isn’t it simply amazing?” gushed Rarity. Twilight pushed her out of the way.

“I know it wasn’t on our agenda, but when we saw it I knew I had to analyze its properties.”

“Just… be careful.” said the Princess cautiously. Twilight didn’t seem to notice her fear, too mesmerized with the multi-colored rock in front of her. “I have a bad feeling.”

“Princess, it’s just a rare mineral. It’s not like it’ll summon some big rainbow monster.”

“Heh… hehe… right…” Celestia and her guard moved the nobles back into town as Rarity and Twilight packed their findings and strapped them down for their train ride back to Ponyville.

My disciple, the Reincarnation is at hand. Prepare yourself, for on the full moon, the glory of the Light shall grace this land.

Rainbow Dash stood in a white nothing, wearing what appeared to be some very old, jewel encrusted armor. The jewels were none other than Titanium Quartz, the rock which she prized so much. “My lord, what shall you have me do?”

An echoing voice in the fog was the only response. Your friends have arrived with a significant amount of Lightstone. Ask the white one to make a pendant, and wear it until my arrival.

Rainbow sweated a little. “But that’s… err… My lord, surely there is something more awe inspiring that I can do in your name?”

No. The Light is infallible, my disciple. Soon, you shall be joined by hordes of followers under your command. Your faith will bring you power as it did to the ancients. My bastions, my signs, my displays of power will be sought by pilgrims far and wide. The reign of the Celestials will end in a shower of Light.

Rarity woke from her silk bed to hear somebody knocking on the door of the Carousel Boutique. She groggily trotted down her stairs and opened the door to find Rainbow Dash waiting expectantly outside. Rarity rubbed her eye with a hoof, motioning for Rainbow Dash to come in.

“Rainbow…” she yawned. “I never thought there’d be a day where you came in here willingly.” Rarity was too sleepy to be surprised.

“I heard you got back from the crystal mines with this awesome crystal. I wanted to get something that I could wear and uh… show off. Like a pendant.”

“Well, I’m no jeweler, but I think that can…” Rarity yawned again. “Be arraigned, darling.” Rarity opened a locked container. She pulled out a small chunk of Titanium Quartz and fractured it. She took a small hexagonal fragment, some gold framing, and molded the frame around the crystal. “Gold chain, darling?”

“Oh, sure.” Rarity pulled a gold chain from her box of assorted parts and fastened it through the loop on the gold frame. One magical fusion later, and Rainbow’s pendant was ready.

“Sorry, Rainbow, but I’m afraid a mineral this rare will cost a pretty bit.”

Rainbow seemed a bit impatient, but it wasn’t like that was unusual. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll pay whatever.” Rainbow pulled a bag of bits out of a saddlebag and dropped it on the table. Rarity looked through it, counted the bits, and took more than three thirds of what was inside. Rarity gave Rainbow Dash the amulet, and she tried it on. “Perfect fit. Thanks Rare.” Rarity nodded and took the pile of bits to her small personal vault. By the time she got back to the lobby Rainbow had already dashed out the door.

Twilight looked up from her microscope. What time is it again? She looked out her window to see the moon in the sky. She realized she went the entire day without eating, instead just studying the hexagonal crystal before her and its properties. She looked over at the pile of gems covered in a forcefield. After what happened with that Fire Ruby, Twilight didn’t want Spike touching a stack of gems that large. She sent him out to get food for the baby Phoenix he saved, and hadn’t realized he came back a few hours earlier. Oh no, I forgot to bring the gems to the temple! Then again… it isn’t like I can’t go now instead. Twilight disabled the forcefield and floated each of the six gems and a piece of titanium quartz to study as she walked. She couldn’t take her eyes off of the multi-colored facets of the fascinating rock. The path through the Everfree forest was unusually bright for being a night with a new moon, and she could clearly see the path in front of her. She kept a light spell up just in case, but the path beyond its reach was still very visible. She reached the ancient temple in no time. A bird flew overhead, but she paid it no heed. She walked through the dusty halls passing by a skeleton with scraps of an orange coat and a rich red mane. It, of course, had grown dusty over centuries, but what it came from was still visible. She placed the red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple crystals in each slot, one for each Element of Harmony. Once she fitted the last gem in, the ground started shaking. The dome above the altar crumbled, and sunlight shone in onto them. Wait… isn’t it nighttime?! Twilight looked behind her and confirmed that it was indeed nighttime, but sunlight was coming through the ceiling. Before she could go outside and make sense of this incredibly confusing twist of spacetime, something sounded like it was on fire. Floating above the altar embers were forming out of nowhere, almost burning in reverse. It formed a pitch black pony, which grew a horn and draconic wings. Its similarly draconic eyes were completely devoid of color, a sharp contrast to its rainbow mane. It seemed nearly half pony, half dragon.

It lowered to the ground, and the bright sunlight faded, replaced with Luna’s night sky. Twilight’s titanium quartz began vibrating, and the alicorn’s magic pulled it up and twisted it easily, making a sort of crystal crown. He formed the rest into a block and placed it elsewhere. It spoke in an incredibly deep voice, but the sound did not come from its mouth. It seemed to resonate from everywhere in the room.

“Thank you, Element of Magic, for finding my prison and freeing me. You serve well, albeit against your goals. Now, my disciple, Element of Loyalty, show yourself so that I may give you the power you deserve.”

Twilight looked around, and Rainbow Dash emerged from one of the mossy pillars. She stood before the dragonlike Alicorn and kneeled in silence. Her voice came almost unnaturally.

“My Lord, I live to serve your glory. Pro Lux Lucis, Prismus.”

Twilight was incredibly confused. “Alright, who are you, and what did you do to Rainbow Dash?” She took a defensive stance, almost as if she were going to charge him.

“I am Prismus, Equinodrake and the God of Light. Before your precious Princesses betrayed me, this temple belonged to me and housed my greatest weapons, the Elements of Harmony.”

“But… they aren’t weapons! They’re tools! Codes to live by!”

“I know. That’s what we used them for. Your silly Royal Family rebelled, took the Elements, banished my cult, and sealed me in the altar. Now, about my… should I say, loyal disciple. She’s one of the few ponies left in the world who still follow the word of the Light, the omniscient presence that exists everywhere.”

“But you’re completely black! Isn’t that the opposite of light? You should be white and calming, like Celestia!”

Prismus sighed, which could be heard from all around the room. “Ponies these days… You will learn that Light takes many forms. Black is one of them, you’ll see. Only pitch black Void is absent of light. Your Changelings are creatures of Void, for example. Even Nightmare Moon. Her heart was filled with Void, and caused her to break. The Elements of Harmony restored Light to her mind, calming her. I am not evil. I am Light, incorruptible and infallible. Listen, I can tell you are a very smart Unicorn. I can respect that. Come join me, and I can bring you up to your proper place as the Element of Magic.”

“Stop right there, Prismus!” The three ponies turned to the entrance of the temple, where Celestia stood valiantly. “Twilight, Rainbow Dash, don’t listen to his lies! He’s a monster who wants to take over Equestria!”

“Oh, quit the justice act. Don’t try and erase my banishment from history. The world must know who the original ruler of Equestria is. Oh, and while you’re at it, feel free to tell Twilight about how you stole the Elements of Harmony from the very ponies who created them.”

“Equinodrakes are nothing but self-obsessed creatures made by sick magic!”

“Is that what you teach the foals these days? How adorable. Equinodrakes are the perfect fusion of Pony Magic and Dragon Wisdom.”

Twilight turned to Prismus. “But how can you create something that you already are? And how do you know all of these historical secrets?”

“That’s simple. I used to be an Alicorn, like Celestia. But in my imprisonment, I discovered a form that would make me better, a perfect being.”

Twilight turned to Celestia, as Rainbow Dash still stood to Prismus’ side. Celestia looked like a beacon of hope, but Prismus’ accusations put holes in her story. “Twilight. You have to listen to me! In Prismus’ search for perfection, he succumbed to Void and we locked him away because of it!”

“You can cut the act, Celly. We all know how this is going to end. Spill the truth and I might let you live. You stole the Elements from me and used them to get power for yourself!”

“Me and my sister took the Elements away so you couldn’t use their power to consume Equestria!”

“You know what, enough lying for now. It’s time to take sides. Which Elements will fight for who? I know Loyalty served me from the beginning. What about you, Magic? Will you pick the side of the original? The creator of magic itself? Or the one who used it to betray her kind and take power for herself?”

Twilight looked between her godlike teacher and the godly equinodrake on either side of her. “I.. I… I can’t decide!”

Celestia called out, “Twilight, wait!” It was too late, and Twilight had already teleported herself out of the temple and ran home.

“Celestia, the war for Equestria has begun. And this time, the God of Light is prepared.” Prismus’ multicolored magic forcefully teleported Celestia back to her throne room, leaving a near empty castle in need of renovation.

An explosion of light boomed as Celestia was dropped into her throne room, right onto her red carpet. Guards quickly rushed to her side.

“Princess, are you okay?”

Celestia turned to Phalanx, who was pacing in her throne while he waited for her to return from her completely unexpected trip to the Everfree forest.

“I’m fine, Phalanx.”

“What happened out there? And why did you leave? Princess, I’m the Substitute Captain of the Royal Guard, and if you don’t tell me, then I can’t do my job!”

“An ancient enemy to the throne has arrived in the forest, and he won’t rest until he’s consumed everything.”

“What sort of creature would do such a thing?”

“It’s Prismus, the ancient God of Light. He’s returned, and his heart has been tainted by Void.”

“V-void? And isn’t Prismus just a legend?”

“He’s very real, and I sealed him ages ago. Now he wants revenge, and is under the delusion that he’s taking what’s rightfully his.”

“We have to get the word out that you’re innocent!”

“The problem is that he’s not just a normal Pony, he’s a God, and like me, he has a silver tongue and a knack for everything. Plus the Void will make him relentless.”

“Should I amass the guards?”

“As soon as possible.”

“On it!” Phalanx galloped away. A minute later a bell began tolling.

“I guess there’s nothing to do but raise the sun and begin recruitment efforts. Prismus will become stronger the more followers he gains.” Celestia slowly walked over to the massive stained glass window and used her magic to raise the sun. It brought a terrible sight to her eyes. Way in the distance, on the opposite side of Equestria, the Temple in the Everfree Forest was glowing, and almost changing. It began shifting, growing and expanding into a small fortress. “I fear this war could be the end of the Solar rule.”

In Sweet Apple Acres, everything seemed fine as usual. The morning sun had risen, and Applejack had woken up early as usual and started bucking trees. Just as she hit the first tree, a large orb of multicolored light appeared in front of her. It receded quickly, revealing Rainbow Dash and a black Alicorn with draconic features and a peculiar rainbow mane. On his head was some sort of crystal crown, and next to him was Rainbow Dash, wearing a helmet of the same multicolored material.

“Rainbow, what in the hay is this? And… what’re ya wearing?”

The alicorn spoke up first. “I am Prismus, here to inform you of a change coming to Equestria.”

“Are you some kinda… invader?”

“Haha, quit the opposite, in fact. I was the founder of Equestria fifty centuries ago.”

“But… didn’t the Pony Tribes found Equestria? And then Celestia came and made an organized government…”

“The part about the tribes is true. Celestia… not so much. She served me until she betrayed me to steal the Elements of Harmony and take power for herself.”

“There’s no way that that can be true...”

“Haven’t you noticed how the time between the Pony Tribes and Celestia’s rule is faded in the books? A civil war is coming, and you, Element of Honesty, have to pick a side. Join the original founder? Or join a manipulative Alicorn who lied to a country for centuries?”

“I don’t know what that getup is about, but I can’t stand lying. But what exactly do y’ stand for? And… what ARE ya’ anyway?”

“You could call me an Alicorn, an Equinodrake, a God, any one is fine. The Prismi Cult stands for true perfection, but under helpful guidance. We know everypony isn’t perfect. But they CAN be, if they work hard enough. Once our nation begins thriving, we will focus inward, and stand as a shining beacon of the true capabilities of mortals. Civilizations around the world will look to us as the leader in science, arts, military, and… agriculture.”

“Slow down there, pardner. What’s this about a Cult? What do you worship?”

“Oh, that’s easy. Me, of course.”

“That’s silly talk, you can’t be worshipped unless yer a god or somthin’…”

“Oh, but I am. I am Prismus, Equestrian God of Light.”

“Well, Prismus, I’m not much for religion, but you do have some points. I’ll follow you for now, but you better not be lying to me.”

“Why would I lie to you? I’m practically omnipotent. If I wanted something that badly, I could just hypnotize thousands of ponies to get it for me.”

“So let me get this straight. This… ‘Prismus’ is a God, who founded Equestria, became corrupted by some malevolent force known as ‘Void’, and has been released and is now rounding up the Elements of Harmony to incite a civil war?”

Celestia nodded. “Rarity, there’s no way I can begin to save Equestria without the help of the Elements. Prismus already has Rainbow Dash under his control.”

“Oh my! Princess, I promise to be by your side as the Element of Generosity. Besides, from what you’ve described him as, he must have a terrible taste in fashion. If he were in power, I’d surely go out of business!”

Celestia allowed herself to chuckle a little. “Hehe, I bet he would.” She walked out of the Carousel Boutique, and as soon as the door closed, she galloped full speed to Sugarcube Corner. I have to get the Elements that I know will stand by me. Prismus created the Elements, and he knows exactly how to use them, as well as manipulate them. She blasted through the door, and walked up to Pinkie Pie who was behind the counter.

“Ohmigosh Princess! You should have seen this freaky dragon pony! He was sorta like Rainbow Dash but his coat was all black and he wanted me to join some silly cult but he didn’t seem like a very fun pony to be around and he seemed like he was having a good time but he didn’t want any of my cupcakes and he kept telling me he was busy and he needed the answer now but I- Mmmphhmm” Celestia’s hoof covered the party pony’s mouth.

“Pinkie, this is serious. A lot of ponies are going to fight over this, and I need your help to keep peace.” Pinkie nodded.

“Okie dokey lokie, Princess. I’ll do it.”

“Thank you. Meet me in my throne room after I get Fluttershy and hopefully Twilight.”

“But Twilight’s your student, isn’t she?”

“That’s part of the problem. She’s not only a very smart pony, but she’s one of the most powerful unicorns in Equestria.”

Twilight had pored over every history book in the library entire shelves were barren, their contents littered over the floor. Just like Prismus had said, the period of ancient equestrian history where he should have been was gone. The books even gave evidence towards some sort of organized civilization being there, where it now just said that the three Pony Tribes lived as usual. Many historians had asked why this unexplained advancement in technology had been made where feuding tribes claimed to exist. Books flew everywhere, and Spike had fallen asleep in exhaustion. A ball of multicolored light appeared right in front of Twilight, dimming to reveal Prismus, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack. The two Elements looked slightly darker than usual.

“Hello, Element of Magic.”

Twilight practically jumped. “But that’s a magic resistant forcefield! How did you get in?”

Prismus chuckled a little. “It’s so fun watching mortal ponies constantly forget the properties of Light. Light is everywhere my dear. As the God of Light, I can use that to go wherever I want. Like here. Now, are you going to join me or not? Celestia already has three other Elements, and I need you to have any chance of beating her reign of tyranny.”

“Prismus, you corrupt monster! Stay away from my student!” Everypony turned to the door, and Celestia burst through with the other three Elements of Harmony.

“Oh COME ON! I didn’t make a shield so I could invite you in for tea!” Twilight seemed angry that her spell had failed to work on the two ponies it was meant for.

“Twilight, as your teacher, I know many things. I can teach you how to break a force field later. But now, you have to stand up to Prismus and his lies!”

“Element of Magic, listen to her speak. You’re a capable pony. Why would she keep knowledge from you? Follow me, and I’ll teach you everything I know. Just bow and the wisdom of a god is at your disposal.”

“Twilight, he can’t even call you by your name! I know you’re a smart pony, and I knew you could figure it out for yourself one day!”

Twilight looked back and forth, before hanging her head and finally giving up. “Prismus, God of Light, the Element of Magic is at your call.” An aura of darkness shrouded her, and a titanium quartz helmet appeared above her. It floated onto her head, and Prismus laughed near maniacally.

“You see, Celly? Your student betrays you just like you betrayed me!”

“You betrayed the entire country, all I did was protect it!”

“It’s too late to defend with lies, Celestia. I’ve already got the Element of Magic. Soon all of Equestria will see the Light’s glory.” Prismus warped out of the library before anypony could even respond.

“My faithful Elements, I can’t begin to tell me how happy I am that you’ve joined me.” Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Twilight stood in front of Prismus on his titanium quartz throne. The castle in the forest had grown increasingly blacker since the renovation started, and groups of converted ponies now moved around, endlessly busy. “Oh, while you’re here, how do you like the Lightstone throne? I made it myself. I’m so glad I made Lightstone, you see. It’s so pretty to look at.”

“Uh… it sure is, Mr. Prismus. Listen, when are we gonna get ta’ the whole ‘shinin’ beacon’ you talked about earlier?” asked Applejack.

“Oh, yes, that, I’ll take care of that soon after I crush Celestia into the dirt.”

“Prismus, my Lord… are you sure you’re going about this revenge the right way?” asked Rainbow Dash. “Maybe we should try a less… violent approach.”

“You will stay your tongue from such comments. I am infallible.”

Rainbow Dash shied away, which was incredibly unusual for her. “Yes, my Lord.”

Celestia and the other three Elements of Harmony burst the door open. Prismus was furious.

“Can you just quit for once, Celly? I was enjoying some alone time with my loyal disciples.”

“They aren’t yours! You’re controlling them!”

Rainbow Dash spoke up, in what sounded like a normal voice for once. “Sorry, Princess, but it’s not what it looks like.” Everypony turned to Rainbow Dash. She lacked the dark aura that she possessed earlier. Prismus seemed concerned. “I’ll admit. I’m a loyal follower. But not of Prismus. I follow the Light, and I serve as a stalwart defender against Void. Prismus here is corrupted, one hundred percent. I feigned servitude to test if he truly was corrupted, and he’s shown every sign.”

“Now, Element of Loyalty, you’re making a scene.” said Prismus. “Why don’t you just go back to being quiet and we can discuss this later? I have a few insects to squash.”

“Not so fast, Equinodrake.” Twilight now was free of the aura too, and Applejack stood beside her. They both stood towards Prismus defiantly. “I’m smarter than you think, and you radiate dark magic. Nightmare Moon didn’t come to this temple to rule alone, she came to free you! Now come over quietly and we’ll make your reimprisonment quick!”

Prismus stopped. He had been betrayed again. Everypony in the room, his followers, even his once loyal disciples, now faced him accusingly. He stared around. Celestia, the Elements, the rank and file followers, they had all turned on him. All he could do was laugh. He started out quietly, but soon picked up until the entire room was filled with a cacophony of his insane laughter. The lesser ponies and converts fled quickly.

“Element of Magic, your pathetic knowledge of Void amuses us. Void does not give up. We consume, just like we consumed the God of Light. His dealings with us were too frequent for his inexperienced soul to bear, and we now own him. His body, his power, every fabric and aspect of what he was belongs to us. But, you made one mistake in this seemingly master stroke. You forgot, this is a God, and this is the domain of the Void. You stepped onto hallowed ground, and you shall be CONSUMED!” Prismus’ color drained from him, leaving his body a lightless black and his mane a blinding white. His eyes became more colorful than ever, though, constantly changing color. He flared his draconic wings, opened his spiky maw, and pounced onto Twilight.

The true Prismus was kept in his subconscious, locked away in a black nothing. A massive black storm cloud hovered above him, and dark fog served as a physical barrier. Every one of his illumination spells failed. You can’t win, God of Light. Void consumes all, just as it consumed you.

“Yet you can’t snuff me out completely. I’m still here, aren’t I?”

We have spared your insignificant consciousness to gain more information.

“Sure you have. The Elements of Harmony will seal you away again, just as they did 5000 years ago.”

The Void already eats at their souls. We draw them closer toward inevitable nothingness every second.

“You will lose this battle, monster. I will be freed from this black prison if it takes me millennia.”

We shall see, God of Light.

Twilight and her friends lay scattered around the floor, knocked aside easily by the fallen god. Celestia was pinned down, the black Equinodrake on top of her. Its bottomless maw was right in front of her face, only held back from her soul by her most powerful magic.

VOID CONSUME YOU!” was the only thing it could say before a blast of magic hit it in the face, stunning it briefly. Twilight stood valiantly, wounded, yet still backed up by her friends. The rabid Equinodrake sent a blinding blast of light, blinding the entirety of them. He turned back to Celestia in a blur of motion and phased into her mind.

“And here’s where you make your mistake, fiend.” Prismus stood by Celestia now in the void, facing down the black cloud. Celestia looked incredibly confused.

“Prismus… is this where you’ve been?”

“Celly, this is the Maw. The collection of all the souls the Void has taken. But you’ve made one mistake in this seemingly master stroke, Void.”

And what would that be, God of Light?

“The first two ponies you took were the most lethal combination in the world. The Sun, and the Light it generates.” The black cloud backed away as intense light began pushing back the dark fog. “And you took these two before taking any others, reducing your ability to control us to shreds.” The fog vanished now, leaving a smoking black cloud helpless in the now bright area.

You two shall be consumed by Void! We will never stop hunting you!

Celestia spoke against the Void. “With the power of a million ponies’ souls, we will drive you back into the depths of whatever hole you came from!”

The Void chuckled. We come from the void in your heart, Celestia of the Sun. We can wait for eons until one day where a pony succumbs to their inner darkness. Nopony is safe from emptiness. The black cloud finally burned into nothing, cleansing the Maw and restoring the two Alicorns back to their bodies.

Celestia’s conscious rushed back into her body, awakening her from her Void-induced slumber. She got up slowly, analyzing the damage the corrupted god had done. Plenty of ruffled feathers, but nothing she couldn’t take care of. The temple was back to its dusty, gray self. Twilight’s friends were resilient, suffering only a few scratches, and stared in awe at the newly restored Prismus. His pure white wings stood valiantly outwards as his gray eyes inspected the damage he had received himself. On each of his legs were silver bands with different gems in them, one for each color of the rainbow. His rainbow mane was restored to its original sheen, and his spiked grin was replaced by a very calm, content smile.

He turned to the Elements of Harmony and Celestia. “Words cannot describe how grate-” Prismus cut himself off, realizing that his natural radiance was making him hard to look at. He immediately stopped glowing as much. “Sorry about the light. As I was saying, words cannot describe how grateful I am for freeing me from my dark prison. As the God of Light, I’ll do my best to keep up my end of the job, but I can’t do it alone anymore. I don’t want a cult, I don’t want to rule, I just want to be able to contribute to mortal society from the sidelines for once. Even Alicorns aren’t perfect. I thought I was when I was young, but I deluded myself. I shall restore this temple to its glory, but I shall remain here unless my duties to this nation call me elsewhere.”

Rainbow Dash seemed sad. “But… my Lord…”

“Don’t call me that. I am just Prismus, not a monarch, not a deity.”

“Prismus, what will happen to your cult? What about all of your knowledge?”

“Well, it looks like somepony has a great opportunity to lead pilgrimages. Maybe somepony’ll make a real path to this site.” Rainbow Dash squeed, and skipped off in squealing fangirlism.

Celestia approached Twilight. “So, how’s about time I taught you that forcefield penetration spell?” Twilight was about to nod when Pinkie Pie burst out her party cannon.

“Enough sappy time, we need to PARTY! We can’t end this story without a party, right, reader?” Pinkie stared at what appeared to be thin air. Everypony looked around. Prismus was about to make a comment, but Rainbow Dash’ hoof blocked his mouth.

“Don’t even ask.”
