For far too long.
The sun had woken me from my deep slumber, shining through my window like a floodlight, it was not long after that I found myself in the kitchen preparing the food that had become a normality for me. It had the same bland flavor as it always did, tasting somewhat like dirt or mud, a taste I had gotten used to after a while. I need to get more food today. I thought as I looked for something else to add flavor.
I grabbed my saddlebag with the bits inside and started to the market. Upon arrival I noticed how barren it seemed, excluding the owners of the shops. Once I reached my destination, being the asparagus stand, I payed the amount asked for and returned home. A few hours had passed and by then I had been reading, well more thinking while blankly looking through pages, it had gone on like that for a good twenty minutes before I realized what I was doing... I was crying, again. This was the fourth time this week, thankfully never in public or else I would never let that go, of course no one would even notice. No one ever notices, not even Pinkie.
Pinkie had just finished another batch of cupcakes for the customers, one being Rainbow Dash. When handing Rainbow Dash the last cupcake she had this feeling like she was forgetting something, something very important.
"Hey Dash?" Pinkie asked just before Rainbow Dash took a bite of the cupcake.
"Yeah Pinkie?" Rainbow responded before taking a bite of the cupcake.
"Do you ever get that feeling like you are forgetting something?" Pinkie asked raising Dashes curiosity.
"All the time, but I wouldn't expect you to forget anything. You sure it isn't just your imagination?" Dash stated.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Pinkie said still bearing the overwhelming feeling that she couldn't quite place.
I had been sitting on it, letting the revelation settle in. I had known it for so long, but I had used so many distractions to block it out, of course distractions only last so long before they don't work anymore. I knew it would be much better, so much better with the conclusion I thought of. It was so simple, but I just thought it as stupid at the time, but now it seemed logical. It was the easiest way by far, I'm pretty sure no one would listen, they usually don't though.
I had it all planned out by the end of the day, hopefully it would go just as I hoped for. It would be as silent as a sleeping filly in the middle of summer. That was how it would be, silent. I had always been silent, so I guess it fits, not that I was mute I just learned from bad experiences that if I were to talk there would be serious consequences, but I won't get into detail. I had wondered for a while what I would do with myself, turns out nothing at all.
Pinkie jumped out of bed like usual, throwing the blankets to the side and somehow making it land perfectly made. She dashed down the stairs and almost ran into someone on her way out the bakery that was her home, because she didn't have time to wait, she had somewhere to be and fast. Her destination was Twilights place, and she was there in a second, but knowing her friend was most likely asleep she decided to enter quietly, but seeing as how this is Pinkie it is still loud, she opened the door as quickly but forgot to stop it and it slammed against the back wall making a very loud BANG sound.
Twilight was now wide awake, and was mad from being woken up so suddenly. She threw off the blankets and stomped downstairs where she was met with a frantic Pinkie.
"Pinkie, what's wrong?" Twilight asked
"Oh Twilight, I am forgetting something and I need your nerdy book helpy stuffs!" Pinkie said slow enough to be understood but still pretty quickly
"Pinkie it's not 'book helpy stuffs' and it- Wait, forgetting something? You forgetting something?" Twilight said slightly astonished.
"Yes I know, Dash said the same thing, now can you help me? I mean the princess has to have knowledge on everyone in Ponyville."
"I do have the files but it would take some time to read through all of them, and you're saying you forgot somepony?"
"Yes I am!" Pinkie shouted "Can you help Twilight?"
"Yes, just let me get the files" Twilight said as she pulled a huge folder of the residents of Ponyville.
This is it. I thought as I walked over to the door, a few seconds later I heard the click of the door locking. I don't know why I am locking it, better safe than sorry right? I walked back upstairs and closed the door, doing the same with the front door. I walked to my dresser and pulled open the first drawer. Seeing what I was looking for I pulled it out, then proceeding to look for the paper and pencil required for my next task. I started writing out something on the paper. My vision started getting blurry. Why are you crying? There is no reason to be crying. I tell myself as I continue writing.
"No, no, no, no, no!" Pinkie shouted as she picked through the files
"Pinkie, could you at least be a little careful with those, it will take weeks to put those back in order!" Said the panicked Twilight as she tried to catch the files in the air with her magic.
"Sorry!" Pinkie said while throwing more files.
The note was done, I had finished writing it. I knew I had all the time so I used it. The note wasn't important though, what was important was the next and final task at hand. I had grabbed the thing I pulled out of the dresser a short bit ago, I walked over to my bed and lied down. Here we go. I thought as I took a deep breath.
"Here it is!" Pinkie said triumphantly.
"You found it?" Twilight asked still trying to sort the files.
"Twilight stop sorting those, come on! We need to find him and throw him a 'Sorry for forgetting about you here is a double-fudge-chocolate cake!' party!" Pinkie said while dragging Twilight out of the room, twilight clawing at the floorboards to give herself a few more seconds to sort the chaos that had been caused.
I looked at the object in my hoofs, bringing it to my wrist. Remember, four vertical and one horizontal. I started to let it pierce my flesh, dragging it over then removing it and putting it in another spot.
"This way!" Pinkie said dragging Twilight with her tail somehow
"Pinkie you can drop me now!" Twilight said slightly frustrated.
"No time! We need to get to him fast! Even if it means breaking down every door in his house!" Pinkie shouted at Twilight
"That's illegal Pinkie. That's breaking and entering." Twilight said still frustrated
"I don't care!" Pinkie said picking up speed, Twilight still hovering above the ground from Pinkies surprisingly strong tail
I dragged it across another time, this was the second time now, the covers were starting to become red instead of their normal white. This was not new though, it was actually quite the opposite for I had done this many times, just not this severe.
"I see the house Twilight!" Pinkie shouted
"Then can you drop me?!" Twilight questioned angrily
They had arrived in front of the small cottage, Pinkie dropped Twilight and she knocked on the door. No response. She knocked again. Nothing.
I heard the knocking as I brought it to my wrist for the third time, I panicked slightly but I disregarded it as I remembered the door was locked. What I did not expect was to hear the sound of wood shattering, and afterword hearing a loud voice. I remembered the voice, Pinkie, it was her voice, I brought the blade to my wrist for the fourth time, and without hesitation going to make the vertical one, but failing as the blade dropped to the floor.
Pinkie had busted down the door and after her shouting she heard the sound of metal clanging upstairs. She proceeded to the stairwell and walked upstairs and tried to turn the handle. It was locked, just like the front door. Twilight had gotten tired of being dragged around and she was not about to let another bit of property be destroyed, so when Pinkie was about to kick it down she levitated her out of the way and used her magic to unlock the door and open it, but what she saw as she walked in she was not prepared for.
I saw the door get unlocked with some magic and two ponies rush in, one being Pinkie and the other I could not get a good look at before I passed out, but the sound I heard before I was completely out was the loudest and most bloodcurdling scream I have ever heard.
Pinkie was screaming, not one of joy or anger, but one of shock. In front of her was a bloody, almost lifeless, body of the very pony she had forgotten. Her mane and tail deflated and Twilight was just standing there, she had walked in on somepony dying.
