The Wrong Path
The start of a long road
Load Full Story“What the?” Dash shot up from where she slept and looked around. “Hey, this isn’t my house! Hello?” She called out. The area she was in was white with dead trees and gray grass with one dirt road leading up to a hill. “What’s all this!? Did somepony kidnap me?” She got up and shook the dead leaves of her pelt. “Well I guess there’s no other way to go.” She muttered walking slowly up the dirt path. The hill got a bit steep at first then slowly got straight again, soon she saw one of her best friends, Dark, sitting on a rock up ahead. “Dark! My best buddy where are we?” She ran over to him but stopped dead in her tracks a few feet away from him as he looked up at her. On his face was blood, as if he had cut somepony. “D-Dark....What happened?” She kept her face calm but really she was scared witless. Dark looked at her a moment then shook his head.
“You took the wrong path.” He muttered. He suddenly began to fade away in black dust.
“Wait! What do you mean?! Do I have to go back?!” Again, he shook his head as he compleatly faded. “Dark? Dark?!” She started breathing heavily, what was going on? Where was she!? Why did harmless, hyper Dark look like he had murdered!? She ever so slowly kept walking down the path muttering to herself. Soon she came to a cross roads with a sign at the base. “What the hay?” He looked at the sign. There were two planks on it, one pointing to the left that said ‘past’ and the one pointing right that said ‘present’. “If I learned anything from Dark, its to always stick to the left!” She laughed lightly and started walking on the left path. As she walked, the white sky became black and she heard voices muttering in whispers. “H-hello? Show yourself!” She started to shiver a bit. Soon all but the dirt path had turned pitch black, she kept walking getting more and more scared of the voices as they became louder. Some of the voices sounded like her friends, Twilight, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity’s voices could be heard, even Dark’s! “Dark?!” She called out, stopping. “Please, come out, I need your help as much as I hate to say it.” She waited a moment as the voices stopped.
Soon they started back up and she sighed. “Well, no help there...” She kept walking when she noticed she was now walking on a stone path. “Whoa! When did that happen?” She looked up and saw the old castle where they fought Nightmare Moon. “Oh good, maybe I can rest and find out whats going on!” She took off galloping as fast as she could towards the castle, not thinking of flying. As she approached the giant wooden doors she could make out a sentence of Dark’s voice.
“You listened to him, didn’t you!?” He sounded mad, and hurt, it was the kind of hurt voice you get for breaking something on purpose to hurt somepony you know. Dash flinched after hearing that.
“Listened to who? Hello?” She called out looking around. As soon as she looked behind her she saw a red fog eating up the path, a eerie noise could be heard coming from it, like the mix of a bears and lions growl. “Whoa, I’m out!” She pushed one of the large doors open with her head as the fog got half way to her. Surprisingly the shut behind her and the room was well lit. “Freaky...” She muttered and walked over to where the elements of harmony were. “Wait, didn’t we take these?” Just then the most horrifying wail echoed through the castle, making Dash yelp in surprise. The elements were suddenly dripping and oozing blood. Dash looked at them horrified. “W-what is happening?”
“Maybe I can answer that, loyalty.” She spun to see a human, like Dark, sitting on a piler not too far away.
“Who the hay are you?” She raised an eyebrow at him. “And why are the element’s...” She gulped. “Covered in blood?” She shivered at the word. The man seemed to have that glare glued onto his face, but his voice was friendly and trusting.
“They are like that because you remembered them a different way, changing your memories here can change everything in the worse way,” He answered. Dash was about to talk again but he cut her off. “My name is not important now, just know this, if you need help just call ‘Shadow’. I will be there as fast as I can.” He began to fad like Dark had.
“Wait! What am I suppose to do!?” She yelled at him.
“Walk down the path you chose and try not to get killed.” He then fully faded. Dash sighed in frustration, was everypony going to end up fading!? just then the horrifying wail filled the castle again and the room she was in crumbled away into another one, the one they defeated Nightmare Moon in. There stood there others, not wearing the elements.
“Guys! Am I glad to see-” She stopped herself as she ran around and saw their faces, or they had no faces what-so-ever. “W-w-what in the name Equestria!?” She screamed and fell back in horror. As she scrambled to her hooves a draft came from behind her, thinking there would be no more surprises she turned and screamed louder. There stood Nightmare Moon, her eyes were blood red and the pupils a yellowish shade and they were dripping with blood, she also had a slight smile on her face, a creepy one.
“)*^*&%^*&)(^%$#*&@” She spoke in what seemed like made up words. But when she set her eyes on Dash she let out that wail that turned Dash’s blood to solid ice.
“W-what are you!?” She screamed as Nightmare Moon took a step forward.
“FEAR.”
