A Day In The Life Of A Pony Outcast
Slowly I opened my eyes only to be blinded by the light of morning. I sighed. Another day of school, another day in hell. My saddle bag was already packed with everything essential. I threw it over my back and flew towards school. One fact I must share with you, I'm a pegasus. And I'm not very popular, in fact everypony hates me! Except for Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle, the former cutie mark crusaders. That's right they got their cutie marks.
Scootaloo has a butterfly which I thought represented how high she could go on her scooter, Sweetie Belle has a heart with a microphone on the front of it which probably represents her love of singing, and finally Apple Bloom has a beautiful newly bloomed flower with a bow on it which is her signature bow, but it also represents her love of farming anything really! Anyway they don't even know who I am. I would consider that a good thing, it just means three less ponies to judge me. Speaking of judgmental ponies Diamond Tiara moved to Canterlot, and Silver Spoon still resides in Ponyville.
At least all of them have their cutie marks. That's right I'm a "blank flank," officially the only one in school who doesn't know their special talent. Believe me, it sucks being the weird pegasus with no talent, no life, no family, no friends. Some days the pain is unbearable and I can't help feel that there is so much more out there waiting for me. Then there are times where I fly during winter out in the full moon. Those are the days I feel like I belong that there was something in this world I'm meant to do, somewhere deep down I know where I belong. I just haven't found out my role to play in this world and I'm not sure if I ever will.
Now this may seem odd, but I don't go to the regular flight school pegasi go to in fact I live in Ponyville because I already know how to fly. I guess you could say I'm basically a teen, my birthday is only a couple of month's away. It doesn't matter though, nothing I do will ever matter. I was lost in thought until I finally saw the school.
Just perfect. Well here goes everything!
I made an attempt to stay close to the wall and hopefully make it to my shelf to put away my saddle bag. It didn't work somepony tripped me. Faint snickers were heard as I turned to face the pegasus that had made me face plant. Speedy Night, the most obnoxious and conceited pony you will ever meet. I regained my composure, and put away my things and trudged to class. Miss Cheerilee gave everypony a warm smile and began to speak.
"Today class we have a new student," she started. But then, as if on cue, a unicorn burst through the door and shyly walked in.
"Please, do introduce yourself!" The magenta mare finished. The unicorn looked up and scanned the class until his eyes landed on me in the far corner.
"Hey my name is Fire Racer, but you can call me whatever you prefer. I just moved here from Canterlot and I love practicing my magic." Racer finished. I noticed his blood red eyes that matched his windswept main, an odd combination to go with his coat it looked blue, but an odd color not light, not dark, a little bit of light neon blue. He looked very interesting. I looked down waiting for the class to start. Suddenly I heard something shift next to me and I looked up to see him sitting next to me.
"Class please talk until I get back from the office there is something I just need to pick up." Miss Cheerilee announced trotting out of the room.
Racer turned to me, "Hi."
I took out a piece of paper and wrote down I don't speak and you shouldn't be talking to me
He gave me a questioning look.
"Why? Are you too cool for me?" He responded sarcasm practically dripping out of his voice.
No, but trust me if you want to fit in here just leave me alone.
"What if I don't want to?" Racer asked suddenly amused by the conversation.
It's your problem not mine. I'm just warning you.
"Mkay." He responded.
I facehoofed. Why does he have to be stubborn, so annoying, so persistent? Most importantly, why does he have to choose me to be his friend?
Finally it was the end of the day and Fire Racer just wouldn't quit talking to me! He knows I don't enjoy company why couldn't he have been like everyone else? Just then as I was about to fly away he caught my hoof. "Come on I want you to meet somepony!" Fire exclaimed ushering me in the opposite direction. Just then I was greeted by a yellow mare with a long blue mane to match her eyes.
"This is my sister, Serenity Willow, Serenity this is... umm you never told me your name." Racer stated.
Once again I took out paper and wrote Snow Moon
"Snow Moon. She doesn't talk!" He finished up.
I took a good look at Serenity and saw her cutie mark was a purple peace sign with flowers around it. And for the first time I noticed that Racer's cutie mark was a horseshoe on fire. "Nice to meet you." Willow said breaking me away from my train of thought. I just gave a small fake smile and I'm not sure whether she could tell if it was sincere or not.
"Well then we have to go, but I will see you later Snow!" The red headed pony exclaimed flying away with his sister. I sighed the world just hasn't punished me enough.
