Testing the Waters
"Prologue"
Testing the Waters
"I could feel the ground tremble beneath me as I ran, my hooves pressing deep into the sand and dirt as dust gently puffed behind me. I could feel a dab of cold sweat forming at my brow, even if the icey cold wind was blowing at my face, stabbing me like a million pinpricks as a gained more and more speed. I began to heavily pant as I became exhausted, my heart pounding against my chest enough so that I could simply feel it. I wanted to slow down, with all my heart I wanted to stop, but the booming growl I heard not far behind me seemed to be getting closer, which was way enough of a push to tell me I better run faster.
My muscles began to ache after a while, the pure exertion of running away from this, this thing giving me a headache, and a lot of cramps. I groaned deeply as the monster came into view, it's eyes wide and bloodshot, a body covered in long thick hair which covered any feature it could of had besides it's long sharp horns and dirty, gnashing teeth. Looking at the thing caused a shiver to run down my spine. Which only made the wind colder, all of my fur already being matted down from this activity. But it's really just the price to pay when you're running for your life.
The monster.. Oh no, it was running a lot faster now, out of it's large mouth a huge purple tongue lolled out in heavy pants that filled my ears, along with his growling and running of course. Its slashing and clawing at the ground as he ran made it sound like a mine field behind me, each step the beast took causing a loud explosion of power and strength.
These sounds distracted me for that precious moment before I realized I locked up, my joints clicking if I tried to move them any faster. Yes, I had gained some ground between me and the, the thing but, not enough to slow into a trot, but that's what I began to do. I tried to protest as my body began to slow down, but it wouldn't listen to me! I grunted in frustration, my light yellow coat glistening in the *sun* from sweat, my pink mane matted to my head.
Soon, to my largest fears, no speed came to me at all, my whole body stopped moving altogether, as if I was held in place with a million chains and ropes, my ankles itching as all I could to was lie there, watching the monster grunt and rawr as it gained ground on me, it's eyes wide like a predator. And it didn't help that right now, right now I was the easiest prey.
allowing a soft prayer to escape my lips I squeezed my eyes shut. The beast had caught up to me and was now looming over my frail body, I could hear and feel its nostrils flaring as it took in my scent, it's hot breath causing me to squeak, shivers running down my spine until the smell of his *nasty* breath finally overtook me, forcing me to cover my nose. This monster clearly hasn't brushed his teeth in a long, long time.
I squeezed my eyes shut tighter, my heart beating loudly in my ears as a tongue picked me up with force, the rough bumps sticking to my fur enough to slip me into its large and *smelly* mouth. I was going to die. No doubt about it. Not as a hero, not as a fighter, but as a monsters food. I was going to die for nothing. This thought caused a salty tear to form around my eye, the feeling finally forcing my eyes open, the tear dripping down my already wet cheek.
"NOOO" I shouted this word at the top of my lungs into the darkness of the beasts mouth, yet, I finally realized that I was never swallowed, nor digested in any way, I was just sitting there on a tongue that felt like, well, kind of like metal. Finally my senses kicked in, this 'place', it doesn't really look like what the inside of a mouth would, it was more pitch black, a deep grey even. Suddenly, my mind and common sense allowed me to realize why I wasn't dead....
I woke up with a start, my chest heaving from the short breaths of fear from the terrible dream. I was soaked in my own sweat, the air thick with the pure smell of fear, all of this upon waking up at the time made it hard to realize anything, so little did I know, for me, it was still dark. But even if I hadn't noticed the blind-fold, at the time I still had this strange feeling that... I didn't actually go home last night."
'Shy would heave a long sigh as he gently released the soft feathered quill from his mouth, whining quietly as he missed the soft texture the feather gave off, but he had other things to do right now then hold a 'pen' in his mouth. Shy waved a wing gently over the fresh ink that lined the soft paper of his 'diary,' a soft smile covering his gentle face. Yet, if you looked close enough, you could see some salty tears gently form at the corners of his kind teal eyes, warm tears that reflected that one night.
Flutter would gently rise, shaking his head violently before stretching his hind legs gently before his front. Slowly, he walked over to a small mirror that was gingerly hung on a wall near his 'writing area'. Little did anyone know, this mirror held an actual specific purpose, no one knew, no one but Flutter Shy.
He lifted a wing nervously before brushing away the long pink hair that hung slightly over his face, holding his breath subconsciously as scabbed and burnt flesh slowly came into view from behind his flowing hair. Right smack in the middle of this colts forehead lay a secret to why he is who he is, a secret he will keep untill he is long dead. The brand forced onto him was the shape of a cutie mark, a chained heart, to be exact, hidden behind a curtain of pink shame.
But why? Wow, why is a good question. Well, pull up a chair boys and girls, because this why just starts out long ago, a night just like any other, as a young college student enters a bar.
