Rarity paced her boutique, mumbling to herself. It was a nice, mild morning in Ponyville. The sun cast a warm glow across the town, and the birds sang their sweet songs. "Oh, what if I make a fool of myself, or even worse, what if she rejects me? Oh, what to do what to do!" She paced around, and her cat, Opal, just stared on in annoyance. Rarity had been like this for two hours, and hadn't once stopped pacing. The mare was trying to evaluate how to write a letter. But not just any letter. It was going to be addressed to the love of her life. It must be perfect. She finally got an idea, and rushed to her desk.
Dear Twilight Sparkle,
I have admired you for a long time, now, and would like to go on a date with you. You will not recognize me, but you know me. Just one date, for now, is all I ask. Then you may decide otherwise.
Sincerely, pen name Glisten.
She signed it, rolled it up, and sent it to Twilight's home. And for extra measure, she had masked her magick. She knew Twilight well enough to know Twilight would try to investigate. The months of planning, sweating, worrying and crying that Rarity had put into this would not be for naught. Now, all she had to do was wait.

Later, at Twilight's house, a certain baby dragon had been cleaning up the mess from a nacho lunch gone wrong. After he was done, he went outside to enjoy the nice, warm afternoon. Spike always did prefer evenings, with the sunsets and a glass of green tea, but that was a while off. When he opened the door, he noticed something upon the doorstep. A note, addressed to Twilight. He picked it up, tempted to read it, but knew better than read other ponies mail. He placed it on the table, but right then Twilight teleported right next to him. He fell backward, onto the floor. "I'm back, I... Spike, what the hay are you doing on the floor?"
"Oh, you know, just enjoying the stiff wood... I mean, the cold floor, underneath my scales."
Twilight smiled. "Oh, that's alright then. Who's the note from?"
"I don't know, I just found it lying on the porch. Who do you suppose could have sent it?"
Twilight gave him a half lidded stare. "If I knew that, why would I have asked who it was from?"
Twilight ripped open the letter, and read aloud. "Dear Twilight Sparkle, I have been admired you for a long time, now, and would like to go on a date with you. You will not recognize me, but you know me. Just one date, for now, is all I ask. Then you may decide otherwise. Sincerely, pen name Glisten."
Spike looked confused. "Who do you suppose looks up to you? Or finds you attractive? There's any number of stallions, or even mares who would try to get you. This doesn't help."
"Well, they obviously desire to remain anonymous for the present time. I won't press for information where none is meant to be given. I will simply have to write back, but I have no idea where to send it."
Twilight picked up her quill, and found some parchment. "Dear Glisten, I accept your invitation to a date, and would like to receive the time, date, and location of the activity. I await your response, Twilight Sparkle." She handed the letter to Spike, who blew green flame on the scroll, sending it to Celestia knew where. He had licked the parchment the letter had been written on, and was able to send it to the admirer that way. The sun had begun it's descent, and it shone brightly overhead.

Rarity was pacing the floor, thinking that Twilight would reject. She was anxious to the point of collapse, and her paranoia just made things worse. She heard a pop, and a letter appeared in front of her, on the floor. She was worried, thinking Twilight knew who she was. She picked it up, and proceeded to read it. After she was done, she jumped around in glee. She had accepted. Rarity rushed to grab a quill, but had a thought. She was being too anxious. Maybe she should go admit it in person? It would be the honest thing to do. She grabbed her fire ruby necklace, her favorite accessory, and left the boutique.
As she walked, she had an idea. She materialized a quill, ink, and parchment to her location, and started writing. A poem coursed through her brain, and she would not let it escape her. In what appeared to be no time at all, she had arrived at Twilight's house. She braced herself, hoping Twilight would understand. She knocked, slowly and hesitantly, and waited. After a few seconds, Spike answered the door. His heart skipped a beat.
"Oh, hello Rarity. Is there something you need?"
Rarity fidgeted. "Yes, I would like to speak to Twilight for a few minutes, darling. Is she home?"
Spike nodded, and let her inside. Rarity noted how cool the house was, and the floor was freshly waxed. The breeze from outside made a warm draft, making Rarity sweat a bit. She heard hoofsteps, and Twilight came downstairs, her wings looked freshly preened. "Ah, hello Rarity. What brings you here today? Do you need help finding a book?"
Rarity just shook her head. "Um, n-no darling, it's just... I just wanted to know... uh... you should know... I'm the one who's been sending you the notes."
Twilight stood there, shocked. "B-but Rarity, you could have any number of stallions, or even other mares, why m-me?"
Rarity took a long, deep breath, preparing for reject. "Ever since I met you, you've been kind and patient, for the most part. You have saved my flank more than once, and I thank you for that. But not just that. Your elegant smile, your beautiful eyes, your enigmatic laugh, you're the mare everypony wants. Including me. Twilight Sparkle, if it's not too much to ask, would you go on a date with me?"
Twilight didn't even hesitate to answer. "Oh Rarity, of course I will. I've been afraid to say, but I've had feelings for you, too. You're beautiful in every way on the outside, and you're beautiful on the inside too. That's what counts. I accept your date. Just don't disappoint me, please."
Rarity smiled with absolute joy. "Oh thank you, Twilight. You will not regret doing this. The location is the Hortum Equus restaurant, in Canterlot. I made the reservations about a month ago, and they expire tomorrow. And nothing too formal, just bring a summer dress if you have one. And the time to be there is seven. You don't know how much this means to me, Twilight. Thank You."
"I've never seen you so excited for something before. You must really anticipate tomorrow."
"You're my dream mare, Twilight. All this time, I had thought a stallion would make me happy, but they all wanted one thing. You? You're not anything like them. You're considerate, you're attractive, you look past appearances, and your helpful to those who ask for it. Goodbye, Twilight."
And with that, Rarity left. Twilight looked at her, and smiled, knowing the mare she desired loved her too.

Rarity was preparing for tomorrow night. She designed herself a new dress, a deep blue, and set it beside the reservations. She knew there was a chance it wouldn't work, but she loved Twilight too much to just let the opportunity pass her by. She took out a quill and paper, and wrote Princess Luna a letter. After she was done, she retired for the evening, Her consciousness drifted away, and her dreams were filled with a beautiful, lavender alicorn.
The next morning, the sky was clear as water. A gentle, humid breeze washed over Equestria, yet the temperature itself was mild. Birds sung in the warmth, and the world was just regaining consciousness. In one specific part of Ponyville, an albino equine stood gazing at her mirror. Rarity was styling her mane and tail. But for tonight, she was trying a different style. Instead of fully curling it, she let a little bit hang loose, causing bangs to form by her eyes. Afterwards, she didn't want to overdo it, but she settled on a deep blue eye shadow to complement the dress. This was a futile gesture, as she knew Twilight had simple tastes. Her lipstick, she decided, should be the same, as everything had to be just right.
After she had gone through all of her preparations, it was already three hours until the date. She hurried, not desiring to be belated to her date. She had learned a teleportation spell specifically or tonight, so she mustered all of her strength. It was a very taxing spell, but it was much faster than previous experiences. A bright flash of blue engulfed the room, and she disappeared from sight.

When she materialized, she found herself outside the meeting place. She walked up to the building, showing the colt at the door her reservation. He smiled, helping her inside. As she was shown to her seat, she caught a glimpse of Twilight at the door. She stopped the waiter. "Um, sir? The lavender alicorn, over there, is with me." He nodded, trotting over to Twilight. After he spoke a few words to her, she trotted behind him, anxious. He led them to their table, and set their menus by their sides.
After he left, Rarity attempted to break the silence between them. "Twilight, as I may have previously mentioned, I can't express enough the amount of gratitude I have towards you, for coming here tonight. This is going to be my favorite night in all of my life."
The waiter came back, asking for their orders. "I will have the dandelion salad, with honey dressing. And Twilight will have the apple and hay platter, sprinkled with grass from the Canterlot park, by the pond."
As the waiter wrote down the orders, Twilight stared wide eyed at Rarity. "Rarity, how did you remember my favorite..."
Rarity shushed her. "Twilight, I love you. This is the least I can do to show you my gratitude. And, if you behave, copious amounts of affection in later days."
Their meals came, and they ate wholeheartedly. They permeated their meal with conversation from time to time, talking about their foalhoods. When they were finished with their meal, Rarity had Twilight follow her to the park. "Uh, Rarity, what are we doing here?"
"Oh, you'll see, darling. Ah, here it is."
A large wooden platform descended from the sky, and attached to it were four fans. They stepped on, and it began to ascend into the night sky. Two chairs and a mini table popped up from the floor, and they sat, enjoying the feeling of the breeze on their skin. Rarity has really gone through a lot of effort. Twilight thought.
"Twilight, would you be a dear and take a glance up in the sky?"
Twilight did so, and what she saw filled her with joy and wonderment. In the sky, spelled with stars, was a heart shape, with two letters in the middle.

Twilight's eyes welled up with tears of happiness. "Rarity, how long did you plan this?"
"I've been planning this night for years, but only just recently gathered the nerve to be forward about it. You mean Equestria to me, don't ever think otherwise. I also wrote something for you."
Rarity unwrapped a piece of paper from her saddlebag, and cleared her throat.
"The sun burns strong, the moon glows gently,
If I have you, then I have plenty.
Your lovely eyes, they pierce my soul,
so never may I become cold.
Your smile goes a mile,
and your eyes shine like ice.
Our lives are interlaced, my soul is braced,
to embrace you forevermore."
Twilight sat there, staring at Rarity. Then, when she thought Twilight would laugh at her, she pounced. Rarity was taken by surprise, and Twilight took this opportunity to land a kiss on her lips. They lingered there, for what seemed like an eternity, and finally let go. They lay there, and watched the stars twinkle overhead. Rarity had paid the pilot to play a song, Diamond Eyes, by Defponies. And they embraced again, entwined in a kiss.

After the date was over, Rarity walked Twilight home. The night was mild, and a slight breeze washed over them. The crickets sang their tune, and they finally reached Twilight's tree. On the porch, Twilight turned to Rarity. "Tonight was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, night of my life. Thank you, and I'll be expecting more nights like this from you." Twilight winked at her, and entered her home. Rarity was alone, now, and allowed to mull over her thoughts. Rarity never wanted the night to end, but she knew it must. As she went home, her gaze drifted to the sky, and she could have sworn she saw a face in the moon, smiling down on her.

Just so you know, magick is the correct spelling, and it is the process of making an effort to change ones life by using their own personal energy and the energy of surrounding objects, mostly Earth related. Also, I'm more of a TwiLuna fan, but this was in my head, so I figure why the hay not?

So yeah, have some RariTwi. I know romance isn't really my thing, but I enjoy writing it. My forte is still dark and depressing stuff, but that's because I've been there.
