She was breathing heavily and was sweating furiously. Her eyes darted around the dark room. "Damn it" she whispered to herself. "Just another dream. Though, I prefer my dreams over my sad lonely reality. At least in my dreams, I have my friends." She slowly got out of bed. "Spike" she said, looking over to his empty dusty bed that lay on the floor at the foot of her bed. "oh... that's right..." She said to herself as she began to try to fight back against the tears that were about to flow from her tired eyes. Just then Twilight had a flash back. From the night Spike left ponyville forever in order to be with his own kind. Spike was full grown. He decided he needed to go. Twilight was a princess and no longer required his help. He figured he'd leave and join his own kind. Twilight began to beg spike not to go, the tears beginning to build up in her eyes. Spike refused. But promised he'd write. A few days after Spike had left, Twilight received a letter. "Dear Twilight. I hope you're holding up ok. I'm doing good. I found a nest where I can stay and I'm making a lot of friends. Your #1 assistent, Spike" The tears flowed from her eyes and landed on the paper, staining it. Twilight grabbed a quill and a piece of paper and began to write back. "Dear Spike. I wish you didn't have to go. We all miss you. Will you ever visit? Your friend forever, Twilight" Twilight stopped writing and began to sob softly. She picked up the letter and put it in her mailbox. Spike wrote back "Dear Twilight. I miss all of you too but I had to go. I didn't fit in anymore. Heck, I barely fit inside the castle. And of course I'll visit. #1 assistent, Spike" Twilight smiled to herself at the thought of getting to see Spike again soon and wrote back. "Dear Spike. I can't wait to see you again. Twilight" She mailed the letter and eagerly waited a response. But one never came. Spike went missing and he was never found. Twilight quickly comes back to reality and cried softly. "No." She said to herself. "Spike would want me to move on" She wiped the tear from her face and left her room. She slowly walked down the stairs, passing bookshelf upon bookshelf of dusty old cobweb covered books. She stopped at the bottom of her stairs and stared at the picture of her and her friends. A picture taken back in simpler times. She looks down at her hooves and the tears she had tried so hard to stop, began to flow heavily. Twilight began to shake her head in sadness and gave up fighting and let the tears blanket her tear stained cheeks. "It's been two years since the last of my friends died. Two long years. And I still miss them more than anything. I have checked and double checked all my books but there's just nothing I can do. Even though I was granted immense magical power, I'm still powerless without my friends." Twilight slowly wiped the tears from her cheeks and left her castle. It was still early. Far too early for anypony to be awake. Ponyville has changed since those last two years. The building slowly became run down, the ponies stopped being so friendly, and crime rate even increased. Twilight sighed sadly and began walking down the paths which were once beautiful things, adorned with friendly ponies and happy smiles, but are now littered with trash and are beginning to crack. As Twilight walked, she looked around at all the things she misses from what seems so long ago.  Twilight stopped at Sugar Cube Corner. Which was once a bright happy place, is now crumbling and shut down. "Why did this happen? Why did all my friends have to go? I just wish I could go back and save them. I just..." She couldn't finish the sentence and began to cry once more. The tears falling from her face and falling to the floor, forming a small puddle at her hooves. Twilight began to have a flashback from the night Pinkie passed on. //-------------------------------------------------------// Rarity //-------------------------------------------------------// Rarity Although her boutique was once the best, she eventually ran into competitors. People with better ideas and better designs. Soon enough, Rarity could barely afford to live in her once great boutique. The place started to deteriorate. The paint began to chip, and the wood started to rot. Until eventually, one night while Rarity and her little sister Sweetie Belle were sleeping, the roof caved in and collapsed. The police searched the wreckage and found two bodies. One of which, was a filly. Rarity and Sweetie Belle were both crushed that night. Their bodies barely recognisable due to all the damage they suffered. The others didn't get the news until the bodies were found. After that night, Ponyville changed forever. People stopped caring about others and worried only about themselves. The economy fell and Ponyville turned into a ghetto. Eventually gang violence took over and the streets were littered with thugs and graffiti. The police were powerless against these menaces. Twilight came back to reality and looked around her. Ponies had begun to come outside and some were staring at her. Twilight just turned around and continued walking. Twilight took a detour and headed down towards a cabin that barely resemble the once happy, critter filled place it used to be during simpler times. The bridge leading to the front door collapsed long ago. And all the critters that once called it home have either died off, or left to find a new home. The memory of Fluttershy's last day took over Twilight's thoughts as she began to have a flashback. //-------------------------------------------------------// Fluttershy //-------------------------------------------------------// Fluttershy Down to only 2 living friends, Twilight began to isolate herself a lot more. She's already started spiraling into her inevitable depression that soon would consume her life. Fluttershy's death was unlike any of her other friends, and was possibly the most tragic. It was just a regular day in the new and not so improved Ponyville. Fluttershy taking her daily walk in the busy town square of Ponyville. Everything seemed alright, until a carriage carrying 3 masked ponies pulled up and stopped beside Fluttershy. She payed no attention to it until it hit her. A bullet hit her in the leg. It was a drive by. Fluttershy fell to the ground and screamed in pain until another bullet zoomed through her skull. Her head fell to the floor and her blood slowly pooled through the large hole in her head. The masked ponies drove off. The police investigated and found out Fluttershy wasn't the target. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The masked ponies,however,were never found. Fluttershy's last wishes were to be fed to the animals she cared for. Her last two friends, Twilight and Applejack, hesitantly obliged and had her fed to her animal friends. Twilight blamed herself for her friend's death. If she hadn't asked Fluttershy to help her with groceries, she might still be alive. Twilight came back to reality. "it was my fault" She whispered to herself, fighting back tears. Twilight sat down on the ground and cried. She cried until she couldn't cry no more. Twilight stood up, her face soaking wet from the tears that blanketed her cheeks. She began to walk slower and bad thoughts begin to circle through her mind. Twilight stopped at an old barn that had once belonged to her friend Applejack. The place is now falling apart. It's barely recognizable to her anymore. The bright red paint has now completely chipped away, showing only the old rotting wood it's made of. The doors of both the barn and the house are falling off the hinges. It looks the the place has been looted multiple times before. Just then Twilight has a flashback to the day her friendship and innocence was ripped from her and she lost all hope. //-------------------------------------------------------// AppleJack //-------------------------------------------------------// AppleJack After losing all her friends, Applejack fell into alcoholism. She drank every hour of everyday and sometimes even drank all night. Eventually her bod gave into the poison and shut down. Applejack's liver failed and she died on her sofa. It wasn't until two days after when Twilight discovered her. She begged to to come back but she was powerless. There was nothing she could do. Applejack was gone and Twilight's last remnants of happiness was taken with her. After that Twilight barely ate and she barely slept. She stopped going outside all together. She could no longer pay her bills and all her utilities were shut down. Twilight came back to reality and she knew then what she had to do. She walked into the Everfree Forest and began looking for a suitable place to do what she plans next.She searched for hours only getting more depressed as she searched. Until she came across the bridge where they all stood so many years ago. On the day they first met. "Perfect" Twilight said to herself before turning around and putting her arms out. She slowly fell back and her life flashed before her eyes. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Awakining //-------------------------------------------------------// The Awakining It was a day just like any other. The birds were chirping and you could hear the distant voices of ponies greeting one another. Today, Twilight and her friends were hanging out in Sugar Cube Corners, reminiscing about old memories. "And remember when we tried to help Rainbow learn to study?" Exclaimed AppleJack who began jokingly nudging Rainbow Dash with her elbow. Rainbow smiled weakly, embarrassed. "I mean did you even see those crazy fancy getups we wore?" Continued AppleJack. She begins laughing jokingly and looked over at Rarity who nearly spat out her drink. "Well, some of us,such as myself, prefer the finer things." She replied, sarcastically. Rainbow looked up from her hooves. "yeah? Well remember when Pinkie cloned herself like a million times?" Pinkie smiled fondly at the memory. "But it was so cool! Well except for when I forgot I was me I almost never forget I'm me" She said loudly and excitedly. Rainbow laughed. "Hey remember when we went to the old tower in the Everfree Forest?" Twilight chimed in, smiling wide. The other ponies just stopped and looked directly at Pinkie, who had begun to chug her pink punch. "Pinkie" They all said in unison. Pinkie quickly finished her punch in one gulp. "Oh come on you have to admit it was a fun party. I didn't even know I could play the organ" The six friend laughed, having a good time. Then suddenly they all stopped and stared directly at twilight, who was still laughing but slowly stopped and stared at her friends, her face filling with worry. Rainbow Dash wrapped her arm around Twilight. "wake up" she said. "what? What are you talking about?" Twilight asked, her voice now filled with worry. "Twilight, you need to wake up." Said AppleJack. "Wake up, dear" Said Rarity. Twilight's eyes began to dart around her circle of friends. "Please Twilight, you need to wake up" Fluttershy said quietly. "wakey wakey Twilight!" Yelled Pinkie Pie, who wasn't smiling, but instead showed no emotion whatsoever. "what...what are you guys talking about? I am awake. Stop telling me to wake up!" Twilight exclaimed. Then she was surrounded by a blinding light. //-------------------------------------------------------// Pinkie //-------------------------------------------------------// Pinkie Pinkie lay in her bed. She'd been ill for a while and her condition began getting worse. Her friends crowd around her hospital bed crying softly to themselves praying she gets better. Pinkie,who was once bright and cheerful, is now bedridden and can barely move. "Guys it's going to be ok. Just remember to smile" She says weakly and her friends all nod and wipe the tears from their eyes. Pinkie starts to sing her smile song weakly. "Come on everypony...smile...smile...smile. Fill my heart up with shine..." Applejack joins in. "Come on everypony" Then Rainbow "Smile smile smile" She sings out softly while still wiping tears from her red puffy eyes. Soon enough all six of the ponies are singing together. "Fill my heart up with sunshine sunshine" They all sing quietly together. Then all the friends bow their heads slightly and close their eyes. Except Pinkie who's smiling weakly at her friends. Just then a loud beeping sound is heard. They all lift their heads up as fast as they can and open their eyes. They begin crying loudly as Pinkie drifts from life. The doctors rush in and the ponies are forced out of the room. "No! No you cant do this! We need to be with her!" Yells Rainbow Dash, trying to push the nurse who's now blocking the doorway. Applejack rests her hoof on Dash's shoulder. Dash looks behind her at Applejack, who just closes her eyes and shakes her head. Rainbow turns around and stares at her friends who are now huddled together in a group hug. "But! But Pinkie would want us to be there!" Yelled Rainbow Dash who was starting to form tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry, Dash. But we can't. We just have to accept it. I miss her as much as you do but there's nothing we can do." Applejack says. Rainbow breaks down into tears and wraps her arms around AppleJack. AppleJack rubs Dash's back trying to calm her down. "Time of death, 3:45" Says one of the doctors as the other covers Pinkie Pie with a sheet. They both bow their heads and leave the room. Twilight comes back to reality. She wipes more tears and continues walking. She's not sure where she's going but she feels she needs to go away somewhere to help ease the pain.  The sun is beginning to rise. She estimates it's around 6:00 AM. Twilight's legs begin to hurt but she keeps walking. Determined to find a place where she can forget. Until she spots something familiar in the corner of her eye. Twilight looks up to the sky. It's Rainbow's old cloud house. Twilight opens her wings and slowly flies up toward the building and sits on the porch. She Examined the old building. The windows are boarded up and there's crude graffiti all over the sides and on the door. She notices that the roof has caved in and the whole place is falling apart. Suddenly Twilight has another flashback to when Rainbow Dash was lost. //-------------------------------------------------------// Rainbow Dash //-------------------------------------------------------// Rainbow Dash Rainbow shot up into the sky leaving a bright stream of rainbow colours behind her as her remaining friends crowded together on the ground to watch the show. Rainbow did flips and tricks with an impressive amount of grace. The wind was calm and the day quiet. Suddenly in the middle of one of Rainbows quadruple backflips, the winds changed and became overwhelmingly powerful. Rainbow spun out and plummeted to the ground like a boulder dropped from space. She landing with a loud thud instantaneously followed by the cringeworthy cracking sound of her bones shattering and her body contorting. Her friends all screamed and crowded around the mangled remains of her once graceful body. Rainbow died on impact. Twilight, Rarity,Fluttershy,and Applejack crowded around her lifeless body. The tears flowing heavily as they fought the harsh reality that she was gone. Twilight came back to reality. The sun was at the height of its journey. It was noon hour. Twilight slowly flew back down to the ground and continues to walk. Trying to get rid of the images of her friends flashing repeatedly in her head.  However, the images were relentless. No matter what Twilight did, they wouldn't go away. Twilight was beginning to lose hope in her life. As her world grew more dark and grey with every passing day, she only slipped further into her depression. Twilight continued walking for what felt like days but was only a few minutes. Until she noticed a familiar sight. It was Rarity's boutique. The windows were boarded up and the place was falling apart. It seemed like only yesterday it was a prosperous business. Full of happy friends and even happier customers. Twilight smiled to herself weakly as all the old memories of this place came flooding back. Starting with the very beginning, all the way to the very end. The night when Rarity was lost to the world. //-------------------------------------------------------// Falling //-------------------------------------------------------// Falling As twilight began to fall she whispered to herself "Wait for me you guys. I'll be there soon." Twilight began to fall  faster until there was suddenly a bright flash of light. It was a rainboom. She smiled to herself for the first real time since Applejack died. Twilight closed her eyes and continued to smile. "I'll be there soon" She whispered to herself again as she began to fall faster, reaching her Terminal Velocity.  Until "thud" Twilight hit the ground hard and died on impact. Then there was another bright flash of light. And in the distance she could see all her friends, smiling and waving at her. She smiled wider than she had ever smiled. She began to walk to her friends. The trot. Until she began to gallop,full speed. towards her friends. When she got there she wrapped all 5 friends into a tight group hug. Then suddenly a set of gates opened behind them and they were gretted by an exact copy of Ponyville. The old ponyville. The Ponyville Twilight had longed for for two years. Her friends all turned to her and said "welcome home, Twilight"
