Chapters Chapter: 1 "Truth in Fiction"
It was a lovely afternoon in Ponyville, a small village in the country of Equestria and for it's citizens the day seemed to be unable to get any more perfect. The sun shined brightly, foals were busy playing after getting done with their homework. The sounds of Happy ponies filled the streets. One couldn't imagine that only a week prior the world was almost destroyed by Chrysalis the Queen of the Changelings and her swarm. A young purple dragon walked through the streets with a bag of recently bought goods. A few ponies smiled and waved at him as he made his way back to the library he called home. "The ponies here are always so nice." The young dragon said with a content smile on his face at the cheerfulness of the villages populace. It was a peaceful town and that's why they loved it.
A lavender unicorn mare sat at her desk reading a book she recently obtained from the bookstore. It was a fiction novel called Daring Doo and the Sword of The Skyfyre. "I still can't believe somepony managed to get permission to write a new Daring Doo! This one's incredible, sure it's obviously not the original author but, it feels the same." She said with a smile as she continued to read.
"And so Daring Doo entered the final chamber of the Skyfyre Shrine the symbols on the wall depicted what looked like Pegasi with wings made of fire casting spells from their wings. As she walked the pictures became more graphic showing the population being devoured alive by dragons the Dragon's scales negating the magic they threw at them in attempts to defend themselves, the graphic nature of the images started to make Daring sick to her stomach. Until one of them raised a blade made of gold with a ruby inlaid in the handle. The next picture depicted this sword giving the wielder the power too-"
"Command Dragons?!" The bookish mare's reaction was not surprising as this was the usual reaction when she figured out why the villain of the series would seek the artifact and piece together what he would do with it. At this moment the young dragon walked in. "Twilight? What's wrong I heard you shout... oh new book got it." The young dragon seemed more than displeased with the conclusion to why she was startled. "He-he, sorry Spike. It's just that I recently got a copy of the new Daring Doo book. Which while not written by the original author stills reads the same. It's a perfect sequel." Twilight Sparkle said with a sheepish smile and a blush. She showed Spike the book and he looked it over as if in deep thought. "Don't they have something that looks like that at Canterlot Castle?" Spike said while pointing to the sword which made Twilight's eyes spring open in realization. That sword was Real .
Not a moment after Twilight realized this her assistant let out a belch of green flames the shifted into a scroll. "A letter from the princess? I wonder what's going on?" She unfurled the letter and read aloud. "Dear, Twilight Sparkle. Equestria had received some new residents 21 years and I thought to let you know that this pair of siblings would be moving to Ponyville. Only recently has the nature of their power been discovered but, I'm confidant that you can figure out how to best help them. Sincerely, Princess Celestia."
"New ponies? Well I think it's about time we got some new faces." Spike said with a grin. "That's very true Spike. But, what did the Princess mean by, The nature of their power? " Her expression taking a trip down the opposite side of the emotional spectrum than her Dragon assistant, she was worried. "Aw come on Twilight, Lighten up. If the Princess thinks you can help them, then I know you can!" Spike said which quickly returned the smile to Twilight's face. "Your right Spike, now let's go see if they've arrived yet." Just as she said that a knock came to the door of the Library which Twilight quickly answered. "Welcome to the Books and Branches how can I... help... you?" She slowed her sentence down when she looked at the visitors. A Pegasus Stallion and Mare both with Blue, Orange, and white color schemes stood at the door. The Stallion's mane, tail, and wings danced with bright blue flames while the Mare's did the same only with Orange flames. "Um, yes hello are you Twilight Sparkle? My brother and I were supposed to let you know when we got here." The mare said with an awkward shuffle of her hoof at how Twilight was staring at her and her brother. Twilight could only manage a very stunned response. "Y-Your... Skyfyre ponies."
This earned her a nod from both of her guests. "Yes... I'm Fireburst and that's my sister, Melody. Your actually taking this better than most." The stallion said with a smile. Which quickly faded when Twilight fell to her side. "Still better than most." He said as the smile returned and elected to help their new friend into her home. "Hello? Is anypony there Miss Sparkle fainted and I need to know if you have any water." Melody called out into the Library as Fireburst set Twilight on the couch. She mumbled something along the lines of "Warm, not hot." Which he took as her commenting about his wings as he had to place her on his back near them when he picked her up. "Who's there? Is Twilight alright? How did she... Whoa you two look cool." Spike said as he entered the room and noticing the two guests. "Best reaction yet. I think I'm gonna like this town" Fireburst said with a smile as he continued to nurse Twilight back from unconsciousness.
A/N: Hello Everypony and thanks for reading the first chapter of my pet project. This story has been in my mind and on paper since I first became a Brony and made this OC pair. I basically thought if Pegasus could use magic what would it do to their bodies. As the effects of magic on their appearance would obviously be different then than with Unicorns. Then it hit me. Fire, it would make their manes, tails, and wings look like fire. They would give off gentle heat but, never burn. The heat would come from the magic and not from being actual flames. This led to the name of the race. Skyfyre, which came about do to the fact that they would fly on wings of flame.
So I hope you look forward to this story and also go check out My Second Life by Coal Buck, as reading his work gave me the inspiration to actually start writing this on the internet. Oh and please tell me if you think my renditions of characters do them justice. I'm honestly trying to get them as authentic feeling as possible and if I need to change something to do that please let me know.

Chapter: 2 "Nightmares are serious business"
Four hours had past since Twilight Sparkle had fainted after meeting the two new ponies that Princess Celestia herself had charged her with helping and her assistant the young purple dragon, Spike was getting worried. "Aren't ponies supposed to wake up from fainting when you splash water on them?" He asked in earnest. This question caused the siblings to exchange looks.
"Alright... Fine I'll go see what's up. Your lucky it's my turn." Fireburst, the stallion of the twins said as he sat next to Twilight's resting form and glowing slightly. This earned a strange look towards the pair from Spike and a approving nod from the stallion's sister Melody. When Fireburst's wings stared to glow with a cyan flame for magical aura which also appeared around Twilight's horn the little dragon was unnerved to say the least.
"Um... What's he doing?" Spike asked getting a gentle pat on the head and a motion to sit down next to Melody. "He's performing a Dream seeing spell. Sometimes Ponies can get lost in their own heads. It usually happens in book lovers and the like. They tend to get so wrapped up in their dreams that they forget they have to wake up." She said with a tender smile which quickly changed to a look of concern.
"Sometimes it's not that simple though." Those six words felt like a sword to the heart for Spike. These new ponies were only here one day and already Twilight was in trouble. He was just about ready to voice that opinion when Twilight stared to stir as if in a nightmare.

Deep inside Twilight Sparkle's Dreamscape, Fireburst trotted through a massive library with a purpose. Find Twilight Sparkle and make sure she isn't in some kind of trouble. If she is eliminate the threat, if not ask why she hasn't woken up yet. But, as he wandered through the corridors of the massive library something just seemed off. "For a Library there seems to be a distinct lack of books." He thought to himself as he walked.
He continued his leisurely pace until he heard a distinctly feminine scream and was quickly tackled by a purple blur. "Miss Sparkle I presume?" He said as he helped the Filly version of Twilight to her hooves. "Okay found her inner Child but, why was she running?" He thought as the Filly started crying.
"Mister you gotta help me! There's something scary after me. It locked up the big me and the other kinds of me! It just got the me that's supposed to be outside and now, I'm the only me left for it too catch!" The Filly shouted through her tears. "A nightmare... Great." The stallion thought with a sigh before he brightened up. "It's alright now. Calm down and tell me where the others are locked up. I'll help them you have my word."
He said with a bow as a cyan blue scarf appeared around his face and a pair of swords appeared at his sides. "Oh how I love being able to mess with the dreamscape just by knowing it's a dream. Shame that never happens in my own dreams." He said with a smile as the Filly Twilight looked up at him with eyes full of admiration only a child could display.
"Wow... You look like my big Brother when he got made a royal guard! Well... Not my big brother, Big me's, big brother and oww... I gave my brain an ouchie." She said as she held her head with her hooves. Causing Fireburst to laugh a bit. "That's quite alright I know what you meant. Now where are the others being held prisoner?" He asked with a comforting pat on the Filly's head. That comment made her snap to attention. "Oh their in the lobby! Follow me!" She said as she galloped off Fireburst chuckling at how energetic the inner child Twilight had was.

Back in the real world a small gathering of concerned ponies was bearing down on Melody. "Ah don't see how Twilight's stuck in her own head without you puttin' her there!" An Orange Earth pony wearing a Stetson shouted at Melody with a southern drawl. Melody looked bruised from the fact that she had tried to reason with the stubborn mare and was quickly bucked into the nearby bookcase. "Like I said, Miss Applejack-" Melody tried to speak before she was cut off by the fact that Twilight's breathing suddenly became sufficiently more labored.
"That's... Not good." She admitted to the group. Which consisted of Applejack, A sky blue Pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail, a butter-yellow pegasus with a pink mane and tail, & a marshmallow white unicorn with a purple main and tail. A pink earth pony was here until she said something about needing to make muffins for energy or something like that and dashing out of the house.
"Um... Excuse me. B-But what's not good?" The yellow pegasus known as Fluttershy asked with a concerned look on her face which was shared by the entire room. "She's trapped by a nightmare and before you ask there is a difference." Melody pulled the Library's chalkboard into the room and showed the complicated drawings she seemingly had prepared while waiting for the group to show up. The most disturbing pictures of the group were an amorphous blob like being covering a pony which then turned them into a creature similar to Nightmare Moon. "That's what my brother is in there to stop." She concluded as all eyes turned back to the pair of dreamers. Silent prayers going out for Twilight that whatever Fireburst was doing would succeed.

"CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!!" Fireburst shouted as he flew away from the massive creature that the Nightmare had found Twilight most afraid of and strangely enough it was a homework report marked Failed for being late. "Who knew late homework could be such a pain in the flank." He said with a chuckle trying to reassure the Filly Twilight who was tightly clutching to his back as they flew. When she heard the joke she chuckled a little.
"Okay, find the Nightmare? Check. Make a sarcastic comment to reassure whatever persona of the host's mind I'm traveling with that I'm able to handle it? Check. Find it's weakness? It's a homework assignment it even says it on the damn thing... So... Check. Kill the Nightmare and rescue hostages and the host's mind before the host's mind is completely consumed? Working on it." He thought to himself while dodging another lunge from the over sized report.
"Uh, mister? I feel kinda funny." The Filly Twilight said as she was starting to fade away which caused Fireburst to stop on top of a bookcase and set her down. "Don't worry, I won't let it get you. I promise." He said with a calming tone as he turned to the report. "Okay you over sized paper bag. Bring it." He said with a confidant smile as the report did just that only to run into a wall of flames and was soon completely ablaze.
"You know... I would have thought it would be harder." Fireburst said as the scarf seemed to move like a pair of arms drawing the blades from his sides, as the creature fell to the floor before him and took it's natural shape. That of a formless blob of swirling black. "Sweet dreams." Was all he said as he stabbed the now formless creature setting it's captives free.
The Filly Twilight recovered and shakily trotted up to him and hugged him tightly. "Thank you for saving me." Was all she said as the Dream Library and the Inner Child of Twilight Sparkle melted away the time to sleep now over.
All Fireburst could do now was walk over and check on the Host mind, Which in other words meant the real Twilight Sparkle. "Miss Sparkle? Are you alright it's time to wake up." He said as she stirred and groaned. As she did so he nodded and faded from her mind. Leaving her to waking up.
Authors Corner: Sorry about the delay... Writers block is not my friend. So I tried my best to keep true to the tags I've given to the story so far and I need to ask if anypony in the audience has any opinions or advice to add. Constructive criticism is the only way to make a story better. Well that and a happy ending.
Chapter 3: "Meet and Greet part 1"
A small voice called to Twilight Sparkle from within her dream. "Come on. It's time to wake up sleepy head." it said with compassion. It honestly sounded like her as a filly. "Oh and don't forget to thank Mr. Fireburst when you wake up." As if those words were a trigger Twilight awoke with a start as the horrible dream came back in force. She breathed heavily until she remembered the ending.
The stallion with the Blue Scarf with eyes that glowed like flames. As she was putting the final touches on remembering what the voice at the end said she sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "TWILIGHT YOU'RE AWAKE!" Fluttershy shouted loudly which took seven out of the rooms nine occupants by surprise, mainly due to the completely foreign volume level from the normally Timid Pegasus. What followed her simple "Oh... I'm sorry, I was a little too loud huh?" Was a large group hug worthy of a happy ending in storybook.
"Well, I'm glad it worked." Fireburst said sitting up from his prone position and shaking the stiffness from himself. As soon as he accomplished this the long cyan blue scarf appeared on his neck. "Well... That was unexpected. Very cool but, still unexpected." He said with a smile. Which got a laugh out of Melody and even earned a giggle from Twilight Sparkle before she seemed to stop in shock her eyes hanging on the cyan blue scarf.
"There's no way... That was just a dream... Wasn't it?" She thought to herself. The sudden expression change did not go unnoticed. "What's wrong Sugarcube?" Applejack asked while tracing the line of Twilight's vision. "Sumthin' wrong with the feller's fancy fru-fru scarf?" She asked which caused the rest of the group to look at the scarf.
Predictably Rarity soon set upon Fireburst. "Oh Darling you simply must tell me where you got this divine scarf from. I mean it feels like silk but, is sturdy like armor and the color goes so very well with your coat." These words were met with a round of face-hooves and a simple "I really don't know." from Fireburst.
After several minutes of Rarity going on about the scarf, Fireburst was suddenly tackled by a speeding pink blur. "Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie, I was going to introduce myself earlier but, you were busy being a Helpful Mc'Helpington, and your sister who is really nice by the way said I should wait to talk to you later, and now it's later so here we are. Oh I forgot you and your sister are new in town right? I guess that makes sense because I don't know you two, and I know everypony in Ponyville so if I don't know you that means your new. So when did you get here, what's your favorite color, do you like parties, and would you like a chocolate chip or Blueberry muffin for Helping Twilight?" She said as she let him up before ensnaring him in a hug that could make bears jealous.
"Somehow I feel like being able to understand everything she said is some kind of monumental achievement." Fireburst thought with a chuckle before speaking. "Well let's see if I can answer all those questions shall we?" He said with a smile. "Hello I'm Fireburst, Yes me and my sister Melody are new here, We got here this morning, my favorite color is firetruck red, Yes I like parties, and Chocolate chip would be lovely, thank you." He said with a smile which in return got a lot of wide eyed gazes from the ponies and dragon in the room along with a chocolate chip muffin from Pinkie. "What? I'm a good listener." He said with a shrug as he started eating the deliciously fluffy baked good.
"Pardner you just done what I reckon'ed was impossible. Nopony has been able to understand all of what Pinkie Pie says when she meets them, and I mean nopony. Name's Applejack by the way. I run Sweet Apple Acres on the Edge a' town." She said extending a hoof which Fireburst took and the resulting hoofshake sent the pegasus stallion shaking for several seconds.
Melody who had deigned to sit quietly in the corner was soon joined by Fluttershy. "O-Oh hello. I'm sorry am I in your way?" Melody asked to which Fluttershy only shook her head. "Oh no. I just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you is all." She said with a warm smile. "I'm Fluttershy and thank you." This got a nod from Melody and Fireburst as he had managed to catch her name as well.
"Name's Rainbow Dash, fastest Flyer in Equestria and soon to be the next Member of the Wonderbolts!" Rainbow said while striking a pose in mid-air. "I'm guessing the reason you haven't been accepted yet is because your not old enough right?" Fireburst said with a knowing smile. "Y-Yeah that's right! How did you know that? Are you a spy?" She asked him with a glare. "Nope, it's just common knowledge that you have to be an adult to join because they are also considered military." He said with a smile. This got an approving nod from Rainbow Dash along with a lot of glances towards their rambunctious friend from the rest of the room.
Rarity walked up to Fireburst and Melody and did a light bow. "A pleasure to meet you both darlings. I'm Rarity. I own the Carousel Boutique down the road and darlings I must say your appearances compliment each other nicely. Where are you from? Oh and pardon me for asking but, do all the ponies there lack a cutie mark?" She asked with a flick of her mane. "I really don't know where we came from but, Princess Celestia was looking after us until recently and What's a cutie mark?" Melody said but, her question got the attentions of the rest of the group as quick as lightning. "What?!" Was the universal reply from the group.
Author's Corner: Oh Damn! Shit just got real! So yeah any critique or advice would be nice. I would also like to know if I'm getting the Character's personalities right. And Before anypony asks Spike didn't talk for the obvious reason of Rarity was in the room anything he could have said would be nonsensical gibberish. True Facts.
