It was two days until the wedding, and Ponyville was humming with activity from all who lived there. The upcoming matrimony between their local princess and the town fashionista was a rather stirring event. Everypony was trying to decide what to wear, and if they should take a gift. In the Carousel Boutique, Rarity was spending a bit of time with her love. Twilight was snuggled up with her, stroking her mane. "Rarity, I just want to know, could you possibly, write a song for the wedding? I've contacted a band to perform it, and you write such lovely songs."

Rarity smiled. "Sure, Twilight. What should it be about?"

"Love, and finally finding it after years. And how you never expect it to bloom so readily."

Rarity smiled, and nodded. She continued to cuddle her lover, and stayed that way for hours. But they knew they had to return to their preparations before the wedding. Rarity returned to creating her dress, and Twilight had to study the vows, and the order of which the activities were to be performed. Rarity was planning the hem, and had an idea. Dark blue went well with violet, and the hem needed a color. She got to work on it, and continued long and hard, into the mild, moonlit night.

In the morning, it was only one day until the wedding, and everypony was finishing their errands. The heroes of Equestria were in Twilight's home, at their seats. After Tirek destroyed her original Treebrary, Celestia had given her a castle of her own. It even had thrones for all six Elements, which they occupied. They were going over al of the last minute arrangements and planning, and conversed heartily.

"The band is playing after the ceremony? Who'd you hire?"

"Reigning Roses, they're alternative metal, so like ChePonny, but mixed with Sliptrot and System Of A Pony. But I've asked them to play a bit of one of their softer songs for the first part of the dancing. But yes, they play after everypony goes outside to dance." Twilight took a drink, the hassle getting to her head.

"Okay, how many ponies will be staying for the festivities?"

"It should be almost everypony. I know my brother Shining and Cadance will be there."

Everypony nodded, remembering full well Twilight's brother and his fiancé. They were satisfied with the plans, and stayed to discuss what else was going to happen. "Well, Reigning Roses also agreed to play another love song during the walk down the aisle. They're the featured band of the night, but we'll also have Octavia Melody playing her cello with them. Princess Celestia will be performing the ceremony, and after we finish, she and Luna are going to start the dancing."

Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie smiled at this, as the Royal Sisters dancing was a humorous thought. It was getting to be lunch time, so they excused themselves to eat. Rarity and Twilight stayed though, and continued to chat about their plans after marriage.

"Twilight, I wrote that song you asked about, and sent it to them. But I have a question, why is Octavia playing with an alternative metal band?"

"Because they have a... unique style, not usually used in those genres, and it includes not only bass and drums, but cello, violin and piano. like Akira Ponyoka. But anyway, they'll play your song as long as it's actually sent two days before, so they can rehearse."

"Ah, good, I'm in time then. I do hope you like it, but it's mediocre compared to other songs."

Twilight smiled at her, and ruffled the fashionista's mane. They snuggled there for the rest of the time, until the others returned. They continued to joke and visit, late into the night again.

The day of the wedding was upon Equestria. Everypony ran around, desperately trying to finish their clothing. This was going to be perfect for their local princess, and all who ruined, or attempted to ruin, the wedding night would answer to a mob. As noon drew near, they all traversed to Ponyville's train station, bearing the seal of Princess Twilight Sparkle. They got to their seats, and anxiously awaited the time to pass.

In another part of Equestria, a certain white unicorn mare was putting on her finest dress and makeup. Her stylist was helping her fix her dress, but didn't really need to. She had magic specifically for this activity, so she had him here really only to finish things. Once she was satisfied with her appearance, she left to wait for the guests to arrive. Twilight would be at the other entrance, to ensure they couldn't see each other. Octavia was playing at the door, as the band was outside, waiting for everypony to step outside later.

After the last of the guests had entered, it was almost time for the ceremony. Rarity was waiting outside the door, for her signal. After the opening song, a colt told her it was time. She took a deep breath, checked her mane, and walked in. The crowd of ponies gathered gasped, and some even offered small applause. She slowly made her way to the altar, where Twilight waited. She was clad in a dress of deep purple, similar to Rarity's mane, and the hem was her coat color, covered in stars. Rarity's dress was violet, with a dark blue hem, and the collar was clad in diamonds. When she reached the altar, Princess Celestia cleared her throat, and began.

"Dearest citizens, we have gathered in this room, today, to celebrate the joining of my faithful student and sister, Twilight Sparkle, and her marefriend, Rarity. This is a very large occasion, and will stay with them for the rest of their lives. If nopony objects, then we'll commence. Twilight Sparkle, do you take Rarity to be your wife, for as long as you live?"

"I do."

Celestia smiled. "And do you, Rarity, take Twilight Sparkle to be yours, as long as you live?"

"I do." Rarity looked at Celestia.

"Then I now pronounce you both, mare and wife. Don't you dare disappoint her." Celestia glared at Rarity. The Fashion pony gulped, and smiled meekly. As they exchanged their rings, Octavia's pitch rose. They kissed, and everypony cheered. The newly married couple lingered like that, and finally pulled away. Celestia smiled, and new they would be happy. "Everypony, you may now gather outside for food and festivities."

They all filed out of the hall, and congratulated Twilight and Rarity, offering hoofshakes and hugs. They all met outside, and the band was playing. Princess Celestia and Luna were starting the dancing, and Rarity and her lover joined them.

"The very first thing, my love,
That we had, was a dove.
The smile it put on your face,
is a memory, I can't erase.

Rarity and Twilight twirled around, as did the Royal Sisters. They were in complete bliss.

"Your beautiful face, your sparkling eyes,
I loved you from first sight.
But right here in my arms!
We'll never be apart!"

The pairings swooped and swayed, and their manes flowed behind them.

"Dead loneliness my heart!
I'll never be forgot!
So just until we stop,
let's go against the clock!

The pairs stopped in place, their partners draped over their hooves.

Dead loneliness my heart!
I'll never be forgot!
'Til the lovely sun sets,
over the land...

And they danced into the night, music sweeping over them.

"Oh, my love, my heart.
Never tear us, apart.
And if we lose ourselves, we'll say,
dead loneliness my heart!"

Author's Note

I wrote the songs played at the wedding in this myself, and the name of the band, Reigning Roses, is actually one that me and a few of my friends chose for our real band. (ChePonny is CheVelle.)
