THE APPOINTMENT.

A sixteen year old colt worked on his grandfathers Apple farm. One morning he carried the cart into town to try to sell some apples. While he was trotting down the mane road with his cart of apples he saw Death. Death beckoned to him.

The boy galloped as fast as he could back to the farm and told his grandfather what had happened. "Give me the carriage," he begged. "I'll go to Manehatten. He will never find me there."

His grandfather gave him the carriage, and the colt sped away. After he left, his grandfather went into town to find Death. When he found Death, he asked, "Why did you frighten my grandson so badly? He is only sixteen. He is too young to die"

"I am so sorry about that." Spoke Death. "I did not mean to beckon to him. But I was so very surprised to see him here. You see, I have an appointment with him this afternoon, in Manehatten.

THE STREET CORNER.

Phoenix Fire was trotting home in a heavy rainstorm one night, keeping himself sheltered from the rain with a simple shield spell. While walking down the road he saw a young Pegasus mare standing alone at a street corner, soaked by rain.

"Are you going towards Farmington?" He called. "Yes I am," she said.

"Would you like some shelter from the rain?

"I would," she replied as she walked into the protective cover.

"My name is Artsy Melody. Thank you for rescuing me."

"I'm Phoenix Fire," he replied. "And you are very welcome."

On the way they talked and talked. She told him about her family and her job and where she had gone to school, and in return he told her about himself.

By the time they got to her house, the rain had stopped.

" I'm glad it rained," Phoenix said. "Would you like to go out tomorrow after work?"

"I would love to." Said Artsy.

They agreed to meet at the street corner again. Because it was close to Artsy's studio.

They had met more and more after that, and Phoenix liked her more more every time he saw her.

But one night when they were scheduled to go out, Artsy did not show up.

Phoenix waited for nearly an hour at the street corner, but Artsy still did not show.

Thinking there could be something wrong, he galloped over to Artsy's house in Farmington.

When Phoenix knocked on the door an older woman answered.

"Hi, I'm Phoenix Fire, Artsy may have told you about me? We had a date tonight and she didn't show so I wanted to make sure everything was okay."

The old woman looked at him like he said something strange, then invited into the cottage.

Inside, Phoenix pointed at a picture on a mantle piece. "That looks just like her" he said. "It did, once. But that picture was taken about twenty years ago, a few days later she was waiting in the rain when a carriage hit her, and she was killed.

FASTER AND FASTER

Red Apple and his cousin, Green Pear went for a trot in the woods. The only sounds heard were leaves rustling and birds chirping. "It's so quiet here" Red whispered.

But that soon changed. For in a few minutes the colts started whooping around the woods and hollering and chasing each other around. When Green ducked down under a bush he felt something hit his knee. When he looked down he saw an old drum.

"Red! Look what I found!" He said, showing him the drum. "Look at the red stains on it, it's probably someone's blood!" "Green, we hold get out of here, I don't like the look of that drum." Green then proceeded to play the drum, ignoring Red's request.

Suddenly there were shouts in the woods. They could hear horses and war whoops all around them. "Green! Let's get out of here!" Green then dropped the drum and started running. A twang of an arrow was heard, and Green was pitch forward dead. The. All was quiet. No hoof prints, no wounds. The only sounds heard were the sounds of leaves rustling and birds chirping.

HOOFSTEPS.

Quick Quill was doing her homework at the dining room table. Her younger sister, Ink Quill, was upstairs sleeping. Her mother was expected to come home any minute.

When the front door opened and shut, Quick called, "Hello mama!"

But there was no answer. And the hoof steps sounded heavier, like a stallion's.

"Who's there!?" She called. No pony replied. He heard who ever it was walk through the living room, then upstairs to the second floor. The footsteps moved from one bedroom to another. Then she remembered, Ink was up there!

She galloped upstairs as fast. As she could, into ink's room. No one was up stairs but her and her sister. She then proceeded back to the table. Soon, she heard footsteps again. They came down the stairs, through the living room, and into the kitchen. Slowly the door began to open... "GET OUT!" Quick screamed. The door quickly shut and the footsteps ran out the front door. As soon as she heard the front door slam she looked outside. But no pony was there. And there were no hoof prints in the new fallen snow.

LIKE CATS EYES

As an old stallion lay dying, his wife left him with the nurse and went to the next room to rest. She sat in the dark room quietly staring out the window. Suddenly, she sees a pair of headlights come up the drive way. "Oh no, I don't want visitors at a night like this. But it wasn't a carriage brining a visitor, it was an old hearse with maybe a half dozen small stallions hanging down the sides. At least, that's what it looked like.

The hearse screeched to a stop, the small stallions hopping off and staring straight at her, their eyes glowing with a soft yellow light, like cat's eye's. She watched with horror as they disappeared into the house. An instant later they were back, lifting something into the hearse. As they drove off at high speed, wheels squealing, the gravel in the driveway flying in all directions.

At that moment, the nurse came in to say that the old stallion had died.
