Furthering the meaningful cause of science had always been my dream. I wanted to go down in history as the guy who's invention changed the world, or who cured the incurable disease. I could have been anybody, but of all possible results I never thought I would become the result of a failed experiment.
Two months ago my friends volunteered me for human testing of a new medicine as a prank. On the day of the experiment I was strapped to a table as they injected me with numerous needles. I passed out from the concoction and awoke in a padded "Isolation unit" or rather as it would become, a cell.
A few hours passed and the doctors came in to check on me, said the medicine didn't work as expected and they would keep me in Isolation until the morning to check for side effects.
For a few hours nothing happened, that is until the changes began. It began as a dull ache and started to creep up to a searing pain to end all other pains. The worst part was how constant and unending it was. The pain roared on for hours to the point where I would have sold my soul to the devil if he would allow me to pass into blissful unconsciousness. Nearly 3 hours of pain passed before the doctor came to check on me. As the doctor walked in his eyes went wide and he ran from the room returning shortly with a hand mirror. When I looked into my reflection what I saw shocked me to no end. My hair was much longer than it was before and had changed to a bright orange with yellow highlights and red low-lights. Slowly reaching up in disbelief I ran my hand through my new-found hair. My hair had become soft and silky from its old rough appearance.
That was the first change I went through. It took many hours but finally the pain ended and I called the doctor back. As he walked through the door to the room his eyes once again went wide. He left immediately and returned with a mirror and ten other doctors.
I froze as I saw my reflection, I had changed to some sort of equine. I had a sort of fiery ethereal hair, dark red eyes, a brilliant white coat, and to add to my shock and confusion I had a long pointed horn coming out of my head. My first and only thought was "Holy Shit I Became a Unicorn!". That was until I noticed that I had wings, it was at time I was so overwhelmed that I passed out. When I awoke I found that I had been relocated to a smaller room with a mattress.
Months passed, nothing was private anymore. I was treated like a lab rat by the doctors and scientists. Every day they would draw blood, make me do ridiculous exercises, and then preform various odd and often invasive tests on me before locking me in my tiny room. This cycle would repeat every day. It began to wear away at my mind to the point where I would cry myself to sleep every night.
One day... or rather night, it changed as I met her in my dreams.
Before me was a great landscape a city perched on a giant mountainside off in the distance. I resided in a stunning forest. Seeing nothing better to do I ventured forth. However before I could take a step step there was a flash of light and she appeared
"Greeting's My Subject! I Sensed Your Troubles All The Way From Canterlot!" A booming voice said to me. Confused I replied "Who are you?" To which the voice replied "I am Luna Princess of the Night!" The glow started to fade as I found a blue pony standing in front of me, eyes closed. She opened her eyes and looked up, gasping as
It was then she caught sight of me. "Who are you? I do not recall ever seeing an Alicorn of the likes of you!" Deciding to humor her I spoke. "I'm from New York, where are you from."
The shock was clear on her face
"New York, there is no such place. What planet are you on"
"Earth"
"Oh my, it seems you are not from my world. What might be troubling you"
"I got turned into this by a failed medicine, and now I am being studied in a very invasive method by its creators. All of which seem to think that I am nothing more than an animal"
"I can see where you are getting your distress from then. As it would be very rude of me to not try to help, I will implant some of my knowledge into your brain when you awake. Come seek me out in the waking world. I would much enjoy talking to thou... er I mean you again."
"Thanks luna"
"Before I go would you mind telling me your name"
"My name was Justin, but it dosen't really fit me anymore. What do you think I should call myself."
"I think, solaris would be a good name."
"Your Right! Thanks again luna"
It was then that the dream ended and I awoke. Much to my suprise I had gained a vast amount of knowledge that seemed to have been collected over many many years.
Without thinking I tried to apply some of it on the bowl lying in front of me.
The bowl started to glow and hover in front of me. Right as a scientist walked through the door. He gasped... and then fainted.
For the first time in a long time I was excited. Rushing out the door to my cell and down the hallway. Bounding down the stairs and bolting out the front door.
I ran... Harder and faster than ever before.
Out the door and down the street Never once stopping.
People gawked and stared. I never cared. I had the one thing I wanted, freedom.
With my newfound goal of finding a home and the mysterious luna.
There is so much to do, so little time.
I know not what may be ahead, but I hope it will be fun.
It was then that I started to doubt myself, and tripped over a rock and fell flat on my face.
"oh god, adventure never was my thing! WHAT AM I GONNA DO!"
