The Death of the Bass Cannon

Goodbye Forever

She left for work like any other day. She got her bass cannon, put on her shades, gave me a quick peck on the cheek and left for the club. I was always worried because the club was by a bad alleyway. She always came home safe. Usually.

She usually left at 9:30 pm, and got back at 12:30 am.

I always waited for her to get home so I knew she was safe. When she wasn't home at 1:00 am, I started to worry.

"Don't worry Octavia. She's probably just a little late. Maybe she's signing autographs or something." I said to myself, to stay calm.

When the clock in the kitchen said 2:00 am, that's when I started panicking. I grabbed my black shall, and left the warm house, into the cold night. Oh thank Celestia for street lamps. I passed the bad alleyway on my way to the night club where she worked. As I passed I noticed a white figure. I went back, and took a second look. It was a white pony. I also saw some blue specks. My heart froze when I guessed who the motionless pony might be. I ran down the dark alleyway. I was right. The pony was Vinyl. I stared at her in shock, knelt down by her, and broke down, sobbing.

I saw her glasses were shattered, and was beaten from head to hoof. I shook her to try and wake her. After a few minutes, she opened her eyes half way, and weakly opened her mouth. She spoke softly, in a whisper almost.

"O.... Octy?" she stuttered, some blood escaping her mouth.

"Oh. Vinyl. I'm so so sorry. This is all my fault." I cried as I hugged her.

"Before I go, I just wanted to tell you something." she said, with maybe all the strength she had.

"Anything Vinyl." I said, sobbing harder.

"I love you." she said, softly, before closing her eyes. Forever.

I kissed her on the lips for the last time. It was the most meaningful kiss to me. After I moved back, I just laid on top of her and sobbed.
