//-------------------------------------------------------// Life is Unfair -by MoonlightHarmony66- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Surprise //-------------------------------------------------------// Surprise Dear diary, Hello. My name is Moonlight Harmony and I live in Fuzzberry Orphanage just at the end of Ponyville. You are extremely precious to me and I would like to write my deepest feelings and regrets into. it has been a while since they passed, but me and my sister are still mourning endlessly. The cutie mark crusaders tried to get their cutie marks in being carers today but they didn't manage to succeed in caring for us too much. Still, they are amazing friends and i was thinking of joining. Anyway, back to why I even have this diary. I need to put the story of how I lost my parents in here so I can get it off my chest and clear my mind for new opportunities in life. Basically, my Mother and Father left me and my older sister Blaze in the house for a short while so they could wander down to the cliff side to watch the sunset. Again. It seemed to be their favourite spot to visit. It wasn't unsafe, unless you were stupid enough to close your eyes and walk straight off the platform. Anyway, they visited this place a lot, because they liked to keep up with romance and their love life. One evening, me and my sister Blaze had gotten especially bored with the circumstances going on every single night. Leave us alone, stay out for hours, come back when we have sent ourselves to bed. We wanted them to need to come back into the house for at least a few minutes so we packed a picnic to take to them for them to enjoy. We packed sandwiches and alfalfa sticks, oats and fruits along with some sweet treats like cake and a tall green champagne bottle with two glasses. After fully packing we grabbed our boots and both trotted down to the hedges that cover the pathway to the cliff. Blaze used her well-developed magic to pry the hedges apart, opening a doorway for us to pass through.Blaze is an amazing sister and is great at standing up for herself. She isn't always the kindest, but I don't mind because she's my sister. There was a large stone in the path that I didn't notice because I was staring into the forest around the cliff pathway. I tripped and fell on my muzzle and my horn dug a hole in the ground. When I sat up, I had blood dripping from my nose. But I didn't really care. I was prone to them anyway. When we reached the end of the rocky pathway there was another hedge. Blaze did the same thing as before, but this time much more quietly. Because waiting on the other side were two unsuspecting lovers holding each other in a warm embrace. We both exchanged disgusted looks and giggled. We didn't care much for romance. Blaze started counting. "1......2......" "3!" I said; and we both exclaimed: "SURPRISE!!!" The two ponies in front of us jumped in shock and quickly jerked their heads round to see where the loud noise was coming from. Our Mother and father were not pleased. :twilightblush: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightblush.png Author's Note If you enjoyed this you need to like if you want to see more. Because I won't know anyway else, will I? Just a little heads up, I can't read minds! Or just comment that would be easier. Do whatever you want.:pinkiehappy: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiehappy.png All of the my little pony elements in this story are property of Hasbro. So go talk to them about it it's not my fault //-------------------------------------------------------// Slipping off the edge //-------------------------------------------------------// Slipping off the edge It hurts to think back to what happened next. I can't help but think it was our fault. They had never been in danger when we weren't there. I keep thinking it was our fault for interrupting. I don't feel strong enough to write this down without messing up the ink with my tears, but I can do this. It wasn't pretty, really, but it must have been painful to her. Anyway, I heard the ground crack and crumble beneath my mother's back hooves. She let out a shrill "EEK!" before tumbling off the edge of the cliff. Luckily, she was close to the edge and she had swiveled her body round so that she was facing the dangerous waves that lay so many feet below. This made it so when I reached out, I could just reach her delicately soft long tail with my mouth. She was surprisingly light for her age. She was a slim, even young mare. But, since I am only a young filly, to me she felt like she weighed 10 tons and had 150 kg dumbbells strapped to he head and mane. Slowly, I started slipping off the edge too. Me holding onto my mother's tail in my mouth was pulling my front teeth out, but luckily they didn't come out. I released my mother's tail for a split second and then caught it again with both my hooves. I speedily wrapped my mother's tail around my hooves and trod on the end to keep it secure; because I knew where I was going to end up if I didn't call for "DAD!" My father's ears swiftly pricked up and he snapped his head around, finding an orange unicorn filly grasping her mothers tail while skidding off the edge of a cliff. At that point my father came running at what seemed like 70 mph. But alas, before he made it to me, my Mother's tail slipped from my hooves and I dropped her. My dad quickly shoved me out of the way and dove onto the ground next to the edge of the cliff in just enough time to grab my Mother's tail again with his hooves. But now he had more weight on him and he was slipping off the edge as well. I decided this would be the perfect time for my first spell casting. But I pushed myself way too far for my very first spell. You see, when foals first use their magic, the gem beneath their horn heats up A LOT and it hurts, it burns the area around it ready for future casting. It hurt when I tried, too. Anyway, even though a levitation is the first spell that is recommended to learn first and test out, and I used the levitation spell, I was carrying way too much mass for my first ever spell. So I used a levitation spell to try and lift them both back up. I heaved as hard as I could. My parents moved closer to us by half an inch. I tried again. I couldn't pull them any further than I already had, which was a complete bummer. My sister blaze was just sitting there, paralyzed by the circumstances that were happening at that moment. I could tell from her eyes that she wanted to dart in there and use her astonishing magic to save her parents. Poor her. She just couldn't move; her body was so stiff. For me, it would've been torture. I bet it was. Suddenly, my Mother's facial expression changed from fear to that of pride and a slight bit of sadness thrown in there as well. She used her new-found stomach muscle strength to pull her upper body towards her husband's face and kissed him. "Wrench Hoof, sweetheart, please do one last thing for me and the kids." my Mother said, tears streaming down her face and dropping down to join the rest of the water down in the ocean. "Of course, Stitcharoo. But whatever can I do to help you all now?" my father replied, trying not to cry, too. Mother then flopped back down to hanging with her hooves pointing down to the sharp rocks and crashing waves beneath. Her mane dangling down, flowing in the wind. "Let go." //-------------------------------------------------------// The fall //-------------------------------------------------------// The fall "LET GO?!" Yelled Father."YOU MUST BE CRAZY!" Mother replied calmly with "Darling, please, if you keep hanging on we'll both fall and no-one will be there for the children! Think about it, you'll miss seeing them growing up. All of their new accomplishments and winnings! You won't even be there for your grandchildren. It may be too late for me, but it isn't too you to survive! You need to do this so Moonlight can lift you up and bring you back to safety. Please, please just do this for me." Father could only reply with silence. He didn't seem like he had much choice if he was going to survive. But no, he didn't want to give up on mother. He kept pulling and pulling trying to hoist her up onto the cliff top but he just didn't have enough strength this time. He had been dangling with her weight on his arms for too long. I was starting to panic. The only thing holding them both up was my magic, and I could feel it almost evaporating and they were starting to shift towards the edge. I tried as hard as I could to keep my magic flowing, but time was running out. One of us had to act fast. I was hoping mother could use her magic, but she was getting incredibly weak and giddy from having all her blood rushing to her head, and dad was just an earth pony, even with his increased amount of strength, all he could do was sway from the top of the cliff. Eventually, my magic diminished and I dropped to the ground. Everything was too late now. The moment I realized what I had done I ran to the edge of the rocky cliff platform. And I saw one red pony and one yellow pony plummet down. I leaned over, hoping they'd just fallen gracefully into the water. They hadn't even reached the ocean. They were still falling. But then, they both plunged in to the murky deep, with a surprisingly quiet and small splash. When a couple waves washed by, they were turning a purple-ish red, and when they washed away from our parents' bodies...I realized they hadn't fallen into the water. They had fallen directly onto the sharp, jagged rocks that surround the cliff. All I could do then...was sit down...and cry. I cried like I never had before. I felt like I had lost a part of my own body, of my own heart. Blaze came over to me after about half a minute and plonked herself down next to me. She landed with a quiet thump. "You see that sunset over there?" she asked me softly. I sniffed."Yea..." I sobbed. "I think that's where Mummy and Daddy Will be living from now on." "In the sun?" I asked, still sniffing and wondering where she was going to lead with this. "No, silly. You see, I believe that all the good spirits go to a special paradise spa hotel that can be checked into only at sunset. And it's made especially for ponies who were wonderful all their lives." "That sounds wonderful." I replied, cheering up a little now that my big sis was here to cheer me up. "Do you think we will go there when we die?" "I'm sure of it. And then we can laugh and play with them all day long." //-------------------------------------------------------// Life is unfair //-------------------------------------------------------// Life is unfair So diary, now I have that all out of my system and I can also refer to it at any time in my life, I must get to what I did today. I had a quite inspiring conversation with my older sister this morning after staying up all night writing in you. I only had the energy 'cause at about 2:00 in the morning I made myself my own carbohydrate-full meal. I was bored(and hungry), okay? Anyway, I was still thinking about what had happened. Fuzzberry Orphanage isn't so much an orphanage as it is a Home. If Home has a capital at the start, it definitely doesn't mean an ordinary house. It means a home for foals that either aren't wanted or don't have anywhere to live anymore. Everything was still whizzing round in a blur, and it seemed no one else knew what I was going through. I felt so alone. I felt like no one wanted to be friends with me. At breakfast time, I sat next to my sister and stared forlornly down at my food. Deep down inside I wanted her to notice my bad mood but she wasn't looking at me. She was more focused in finishing her own food. I tried harder, picking up my spoon and dropping it back into my food. It made a loud clang and blaze's sensitive ears perked up and rotated to where the noise came from. She then looked at me, with a face on that almost said 'I feel sorry for you but I don't want you to know.'. I played with my food for a while, then put down the cutlery and said, "Can I be excused please?". It wasn't even a question. I just wanted to go. I left all of my dishes and stuff at the table and was out the door before they could even begin to try and process a response. My heart was still shattered from last week when the whole incident happened. Blaze must have sensed this, because she was the next to be excused, but she cleaned both of our dishes for us to lift the burden. I had gone to our dormitory and was sitting uncomfortably on my bed, snuggling to my pillow while trying not to remember what was going on in my life currently. I fell absolutely terrible. But what made it worse was the next ponies to enter the dormitory weren't my sister. It was the three local bullies(who were also our roommates), Tangleweed, Cherry Pie and their ring leader, Strawberry Bliss. "So, I heard you pushed your parents off a cliff, you little murderer." Strawberry mocked, putting extra emphasis on the word so. She wasn't using the word murderer jokingly like you would say, 'you're killing me you're so cute, you little murderer.' she was using it more seriously. She acted like she actually mean every word. "It takes a lot of courage to kill someone you love, especially the ones that made you..." she had an incredibly intimidating expression on which was mixed with pure joy and pride. She seemed to like making me upset. "Don't talk like that." I moaned. I didn't think to make eye contact with them. By this point I had pulled out this diary and started drawing in the back. It was a very graphic picture of me and Blaze punching and strangling the three awful fillies while their parents helplessly watched in the corner, tied to a tree. Tangleweed's head had already exploded. I was wondering how much it would take for us to get that far with them. "Watcha doin'?" She sneered and tried to look over my shoulder at what I was doing but I shut the book. "Hey, let me see that!" she said with an annoyed tone. She must have been frustrated by not being able to invade everyone's privacy. "Give it to me, you little weasel!" she snatched the book from my hooves and read it aloud to her minions. " Dear diary, Today I was so happy to meet Strawberry Bliss, Tangleweed and Cherry Pie." She stopped reading. "You like us?" My eyes started to well up with tears. "Ever since I first met you. First time I saw you all, I thought you were the prettiest fillies I had ever seen. At the start you were so nice to me. But, then you changed. When I went to the Ponyville schoolhouse, the bullies back there said they were 'just kidding' so they could get themselves off the hook. So, I presumed you were too." They all seemed touched. But then Strawberry smirked. "You got all that, Cherry?" She asked. Cherry pie came out from behind Strawberry with a notebook and pen. "All of it." she had recorded everything I said." See you in the morning, sappy stuff." She dropped the book so it landed on the heart shape padlock on the front and smashed it. "Oh, i'm so sorry!" She said sarcastically. "I hope your parents's spirits come back and fix it in your sleep!" She started walking away and her little minions followed. "If they're not too mad at you for KILLING them." Tangleweed mumbled, but intended to make it so I could just about hear it. At that moment, Blaze came out from behind the door frame with a tape recorder and said, "Could you confirm what you just said?" and Strawberry repeated, " WE HOPE YOUR DEAD PARENTS COME AND FIX HER DIARY THAT WE BROKE IF THEY'RE NOT TOO MAD AT YOU FOR KILLing.....them....a while ago. Oh." She had turned around and seen the tape recorder. "We didn't mean any of that! Please don't snitch on us!" "Sorry girls, but as you know, bullying is not tolerated at Fuzzberry. Come on sis. It's time to end this." and we both trotted down to Miss Coaco's office to show her everything. After we were finished, we both galloped happily back up the stairs and leaped onto our beds. I started to sing a song that we had both made up. "And though you're oh so far away, I miss you everyday," Then blaze joined in. "Everyday since forever. I've loved you, I've loved you all the wa-a-a-a-a-y." Blaze got up, "I'm gonna go wash my face, okay?" and with that, she plodded over to she bathroom, rubbed some shower gel on and splashed some water into her face before trotting back up to me. I looked up at her and inquired, "Us losing our parents and friends, being sent here, the BULLIES. Do you think any of that is fair?" "Well, when you ponder about it too much..." she began, "Life is unfair." //-------------------------------------------------------// Too close //-------------------------------------------------------// Too close "What in Equestria do you think you're doing invading other ponies' privacy like that!?" Boomed our Dad. "Well you wander into our room and look through our stuff anytime you want to..." Blaze muttered to herself. "We just wanted to give you..." I sort of trailed off. "WE BROUGHT YOU A DARN GIFT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!!" Blaze burst out, obviously enraged by the fact we had done something nice for them and then we got treated like dirt. We both put on our sweetest puppy-dog eyes to try and cheer them up. "Oh, I just can't stay mad at you two." Our Mother said. "come and sit down." We did. Our mother was always kind and caring, no matter what. every time she looked at you her beautiful eyes twinkled like shiny bright emeralds and her blue and purple mane always seemed to glimmer and sparkle. I hastily brought the heavy hamper over to where they were sitting and Blaze helped me lay down the picnic blanket. "you know, it is Nightmare night tomorrow...and I kind of wanted to go trick or treating with you. It would make it a lot more fun than just going with Blaze; we would be a whole family." I slowly brought up. I could sense that my mother wasn't going to say yes, so I stuffed a sweet pastry in her mouth. It was the best kind of thing to appeal to her with, because cranberry was her favourite. My dad, however, responded differently. "I'm sure that can be arranged. If you can make us our costumes." He knew I loved sewing. Out of the blue, I suddenly said to my mother, "Will you dance with me?" She loved dancing. I loved dancing. We both loved dancing and singing. She moved over to a big space away from the picnic and started twirling and dancing majestically, like a beautiful swan. I got up to go and join her but my dad stopped me and tapped Blaze to get her attention. "Close your eyes." he said to each of us. After we had, he slipped something onto my wrist. I imagined he must have done the same to Blaze. "Open up." He said at last. we both looked immediately down do our wrists. We were now both wearing bracelets with our birthday gems as the main bead. Mine was emerald, as I was born on may 9, and am a taurus. My sister is a capricorn. She got an aquamarine gemstone as she was born on January 10. "These are from me and your mother. They are a symbol that we will both love you under all circumstances." "Thanks, dad!" I said quickly before going over to dance with my mother. "I want to give you some music!" I said, and began to start singing my favourite song. 'And I never saw you coming, baby. And i'll never ever be the sa-a-a-ame. This is a magical place.' That is as far as I got before I heard the ground beneath her crumble and crack. She was way to close to the edge! "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!"
