All the sound in the world was muffled to Rarity as she slept blissfully.
"Ooh ooh oh! Miss Rarity, this new costume is fabulous!" Said Sapphire Shores, who was admiring the beautiful dress in the mirror.
"It took quite a while, but perseverance always pays off. Now, shall I get to fitting your dance partners?" As Rarity walked across the room in her dream, she suddenly found that the world was spinning around her.
"Ahh!" Rarity shouted in surprise. Suddenly, surprise turned to pain and fear as a warm stickiness began to spread along her stomach. Frantically, she struggled to get out from her sheets. It would seem as though she had fallen off her bed, but that didn't explain why she hurt so badly. She inspected herself, and found that there was an intense, piercing pain in her right foreleg. Pulling her head out from the covers, she saw that her leg was bent at almost a ninety degree angle in the wrong direction.
"Sweet Celestia!" She shouted as she went into absolute shock.
"Rarity, what's wrong?" Spike said, jumping out from her closet.
"Spike, what are you-, Ouch! Sweet... Oh my... Spike, get help, I think I'm hurt." She put her mouth up against her leg to try cleaning her wound, but that did little to quell the flow of blood. She held her foreleg up, and used her other three legs to balance herself.
Spike came back swiftly with Twilight Sparkle in tow.
"Rarity, Oh my goodness! We need to get you to a hospital."
"Wait, no, I need to get something good on first."
"Rarity, stop!" Twilight shouted. Rarity was attempting to hobble her way to her closet where Spike was hiding earlier.
"No, I can't go out like this. I just got out of bed for goodness sake." Rarity picked up a purple dress and was about to put it on, but Twilight, not willing to allow Rarity to hurt herself in an effort to look fabulous, lifted her up with her magic and dragged her out the door.
"No, please! At least let me put some makeup on!" But Twilight ignored her cries for beautification, and levitated her over to the hospital.
"Hmm..." The doctor pony said as he observed the X-Ray of Rarity's leg.
"Well, doctor?" Said Twilight.
"Is Rarity going to be okay?" Said Fluttershy, who ran over immediately when she found out Rarity was hurt.
"Hmm... Well, she would heal a lot quicker if she was wearing something pretty, maybe a purple dress. If she was wearing that, she could probably be alright in an hour or so." There was a subtle growl emanating from Rarity as she glowered at Twilight, who had an extremely annoyed expression on her face. Did Rarity seriously tell the doctor to say that? Twilight thought to herself, a little surprised that her friend would be so childish. Of course, Rarity actually had not told the doctor this. The doctor was being absolutely serious. "But... Yes, she will be fine in two weeks or so. She just needs to treat that leg well. How did this even happen?"
"Well I was dreaming blissfully when I awoke to find myself tangled up in my blankets on the floor with a piercing pain in my foreleg. I could also feel blood spreading all along my underbelly and legs. I untangled myself, and found my bone slightly protruding from my foreleg, and it was bent in the most atrocious manner. I tried to do the wise thing, like you said, and hobbled over to my closet to get a good dress on, but Twilight, probably in a panic, overlooked the obvious top priority and instead forcibly brought me here." The doctor shook his head.
"Well I'm sure you will be fine, Celestia willing. What you need is time and plenty of bed rest." The doctor left Twilight and Fluttershy there with Rarity.
"... Why wouldn't you let her put a dress on?" Fluttershy asked.
"What?! Why is this a thing? Why in Celestia's name would I do that?"
"Fluttershy, it's okay. I forgive her for being silly. So... Now I'm here. Well, at least my gown matches the curtains." She rubbed her patient's gown with her good foreleg.
"Would you like me to bring you some books? What genre do you like?"
"What would you recommend, Twilight?"
"I'm in the midd
[Edit]
"I'll come see you regularly, if you like." Said Fluttershy. "Anyone you want to bring with me?"
"Oh you don't have to go out of your way for me, darling. I can entertain myself with books and... I'll find something to do."
"Well..." Fluttershy paused, considering her words. "Rainbow Dash told me about her time here. She said she spent a lot of time bored." Rarity nodded, and pondered what she would do.
"Well, I'll see how the first day goes. If it's so awful like that, maybe I'll ask you to bring someone by. But I doubt it will be like that. I sure wish I had a room mate though." They all looked over to the left of Rarity's bed to see an empty one like it.
"Rainbow said her roommate wasn't very talkative."
"I can only imagine why." Rarity said with a casual humor. Say, do you think they would let me do some sowing while I'm in here?" Fluttershy looked over to Twilight for her opinion.
"Well... I don't imagine they want sharp needles being waved around. It's probably better you not." Rarity pondered this for a while. Almost all her days were spent working on beautifying cloth and fabric to make stunning master pieces. Now she would have to go without that joy for weeks. She then tried to draw up some topic for conversation when Pinkie Pie was escorted into the room. When she came to see Rarity in the bed, she leaped across the room to get a closer look at her friend.
"Rarity! Oh my gosh, what happened? I was sleeping in and I just heard about it from Spike, who the author completely forgot was supposed to be in this room with you guys, until now that is."
"Oh, Pinkie. Well, I was sleeping, he apparently was sni- I- I mean just hanging around, and then I fell and broke my leg. It's nothing too serious, just extremely awful. Spike came out of my clos- I mean he came into the room and asked what was wrong. Then he went and got Twilight. She unwisely brought me here, and now here I am." Pinkie mauled on that story for a bit.
"Why was Spike the one... Never, I don't care. I'm just glad you're okay. Here, I brought you a cupcake!" Pinkie pulled a vanilla cupcake with purple frosting out of her mane and handed it over to Rarity. "Cupcakes heal all wounds."
"Oh, thank you Pinkie..." Rarity trailed off as she observed the cupcake to ensure it has no hair in it. Fortunately, it had none.
