Chapter 1 - Missing

The air was cold, but the sun was shining bright. A young filly stood atop a hill, her mane and tail flowing in the breeze. Tears rushed along her face. The day had not gone well for her. Pain filled her fragile heart. Her sister had disappeared, just days after they had been reunited. ShiverMay was all she had, and she was only in her life for a few days. It was torture to Arts Desire, having lost her parents at a young age and growing up under the rule of the Shadow King, Sombra.

All her memories, from long ago to present, flashed through her mind. This only caused her more tears and even greater pain. She collapsed to the ground in agony, her sobs causing her to choke slightly. She layed there, trying to calm herself. The minutes seemed like hours. All her pain from her past and present was nearly unbareable.

“Artsy?” Spoke a smooth voice from above her. The question had come from her friend, Magix. They had met when Artsy had taken a tumble off one of the towers of the crystal castle. She had been lucky enough to slow her fall with her wings. She had never learned to fly.

“What do you want Magix? If you can't tell, I am really not in the mood.” Artsy stated in a sarcastic tone. She was looking up at the pink unicorn now.

“I was just wondering if you were alright.” She knelt down next to Artsy and levitated something over to her. “Also, why aren’t you wearing your bowtie? You never take it off.”

Artsy stared at the object and plopped her head back on the ground. “I don’t know. I just haven’t felt like wearing it I guess.” The bowtie had been her fathers. After he had gone on a quest for Sombra, along with her mother, they never came back. The bowtie was all she had left of both of them. It ment alot to her and Magix was right, she never took it off.

Magix glanced at Artsy with a concerned, yet stern expression. “I understand your sister is missing, but you will accomplish nothing by just sitting here.” She gave Artsy a nudge, forcing her to sit up.

“Magix! What do you expect me to do! You know I can’t use my wings and fly.” She lifted her wings to symbolize her point. Her left wing had been bandage tightly. “How in Equestria will I be able to find her?” Tears, once again, began to flow down her face.

Magix wrapped her hoof around Artsy’s neck, in an attempt to give comfort to her friend. “I know it’s hard, but if you don’t try, then… I am sorry to say, but then all hope is lost. You may never see your sister. At least, if you do try, then there is still a chance you will get to see her again. Don’t you dare give up on her!” she stood and offered a hoof to the lavender pegasus.

Artsy glanced at the ground and thought for a moment, before taking Magix’s hoof and standing. “I guess it’s worth a shot. Oh, how I do hope she’s okay.”

“I am sure she’s fine.” Magix said reassuringly, tying the torquise bowtie around Artsy’s neck. “So, where shall we start?”

“You’re coming with me? Why?” she looked at Magix in a questioning way.

“Are you kidding me! Of course I’m coming! I’d never let you go alone and I can't stand seeing you like this.”

“Okay then. Let’s head back to the empire and let the princess know.” She said trotting down the hill, with Magix following closly behind her.

The Crystal Empire is a very active city, full of crystal ponies. The Empire had vanished a thousand years ago, after King Sombra had been banished. It had only come back recently and Princess Cadence now was ruler over it. Arts Desire had no later become the princess’s assistance, when her sister disappeared.

Artsy and Magix reached the castle and galloped through the large, crystal doors, they were ready to get their quest started. They took no care of the guards, who they ran by, and went bursting into the throne room.

"Oh my." Spoke a stunned Cadence, as she saw the two ponies stumble in. Arts Desire'seyes were filled with tears. "Are you okay?"

The ponies halted at the edge of the throne, both were exhausted from their run to the castle. Artsy kept her eyes towards the ground, but Magix looked at the pink alicorn and said sullenly, "Arts Desire's sister has disappeared. She is no where to be seen. It has completly crushed Arsty."

Cadence straightened and looked at Artsy, able to see the torture she was going through. Her assistant was in a very depressed state. She looked as if she was about to collapse from all of her crying. "So that's why you didn't come in today. Well then, I guess we should send some guards out to look for her."

Arts Desire looked up and, attempting to hold her tears back, announced to Cadence. "I want to go and look for her. I have to find her."

Cadence was not surprised by this, in fact she expected it. It was only natural for Artsy to show concern for her sister. She smiled and nodded. "Okay, but you two are not going alone. I will send my most trusted guard to help scan the empire." She looked at a orange pegasus. "Flash Sentry shall go with you."

Flash quickly knelt infront of the Princess. "As you wish ma'am." He then stood and led Arts Desire and Magic out of the castle. Cadence was waving and wishing them luck from the upper balcony.
