The everfree forest. A wondrous and mysterious place. It also had a strange ability to randomly drop people and things from other dimensions there.
"Ouch" a satyr, specifically azno the satyr, said as he was rather unceremoniously dropped on a stump. He opened his eyes and jumped to his cloven feet. "I’m alive!" he yelled. "Oh yeah! Those damned adventures couldn't kill me! On an unrelated note, where am i?" azno looked around. He defiantly wasn't in banebreath anymore. He shrugged and left the clearing he was in. and promptly tripped over a sleeping furbolg. The furbolg got up and kicked the prone satyr in the nuts.
"What you doing, horse man! Who you?!" the satyr, clutching his sack, said
"I’m azno. Charmed, I’m sure. And who are you?"
The fur bolt scratched his head for a second then said, "i Akan."
"Mmm." the satyr once again jumped to his feet and stretched. "Well, it doesn't matter. I’m alive, and that's all that matters. How did you get here?"
"The furbolg said, "i shaman of stillpine. What you?"
"I am a trickster. Nice to meet you." the furbolg was obviously out of touch. A smart creature would have known the satyr reputation. But the furbolg nodded and reached out his clawed hand. Azno looked at it like it had a face. Then he said, 'oh' and grabbed it. Akan grinned and shook it up and down. Akan nodded and said, "Where are we?"
Azno shook his head and quite bluntly said, "I have no clue in the slightest."
Gal opened his eyes and grunted. Grabbing his head, and shaking it, he thought, 'what did i drink?! after lying there a second he rolled off his back, only to come face to face with a mogu. He screamed. The mogu blinked awake and roared.
"Who dares awake tan-zi!?" the quill boar scrabbled away and grabbed at his sword. Which wasn't there. The mogu was also in such a predicament. He- it was obviously a male, he had no pants- was shouting about some hammer or something. The quill boar was about to run away when they heard some thing.
A howl.
An ungodly, lifeless howl.
Both the mogu and the quilboar looked towards the clearing where it came from. There they saw a large amount of wooden wolves, or something, all staring at them with hungry eyes.
"Um... i think they were attracted to you, my mogu friend."
"Bull. You were the one who screamed like a female."
"Who knows? All we know is that we have no weapons, and are facing down about fifty wooden wolves. And if i know my magic, I’ll bet that they regenerate."
"Bet what?"
"I dunno. It’s just a phrase. Don’t put much behind it."
"Mmm. that's stupid. I feel stupid just by listing to you.
"Wow, hurt much?"
"Yes. Wait a minute. Wasn’t i dead before?"
"Now that you mention it..."
The timber wolves had waited enough for them to finish their dialogue and jumped at them.
azno and Akan had been walking towards where that rather girly yell had come from, and saw a mogu and a quilboar fighting wooden wolves.
"Huh." said Akan. "Do you suppose that we should help them?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"It would be right thing to do." not waiting for the satyrs answer, he jumped in and shouted something in ursine, and a bright green glow surround all of them. The wounds the quilboar and the mogu had were instantly healed. The quilboar nodded to the furbolg and the satyr.
"Thanks."
"You welcome. Who you?"
"I’m gal. It’s a pleasure."
"And i am tan-zi! Welcome to the getting mauled by wooden wolves club!"
The satyr nodded and said, "Can we get this over with? I would like to leave at some point!"
Tan-zi said, "indeed! Let’s end this!"
He pulled in breath and yelled. The shockwave smashed all the remaining wolves.
Tan-zi fell to one knee, panting. The other three pulled him up and they watched as the remains pulled themselves together again
"Ha-ha! I was right!" gal laughed as he saw that exact same phenomena. "Let’s leave."
The others nodded and they pulled tan-zi away.
"I don't understand it." the four of them, after escaping the wolves, had built a shoddy camp in a cave. "There is absolutely nothing in this forest. Nothing." azno was rather grumpy. "An entire forest. Full of monsters and weird shit. This would be the perfect place for a satyr tribe. But... nothing. Not even an inkling of civilization. Well, except from that castle in the distance." the others agreed.
"We might find something in there, though. I suggest that we check it out in the morning."
The four of them watched as rather abruptly the sunset and the moon rose. The four of them were tired, but none of them were going to sleep yet there was too much on their minds. After careful conversation, they had all learned that they had all been offed by adventurers, and they were nowhere near the place where that happened.
The four of them sat at the edge of the cave watching the moon. They were all just sitting there when tan-zi said,
"You know, i never supported the resurrection of the thunder king." azno and gal looked at him like he had grown a second head (Akan was pretty out of touch, so he didn't respond.). "I couldn't do anything. I had to support my people. And i did. All the way to my dying breath." he sighed heavily and looked at the sky.
Gal looked down and said. "Hey you guys? How did you all die?"
The other three looked at him, then down at the ground. After a minute of awkward silence, Akan started.
"I shaman. I live with other shamans in cave. Then littermate zagu decide not to listen to high chief stillpine anymore. So he send hero to kill us. I caught in cross fire." he was silent after that. Azno coughed and said,
"Well, since that's out of the way, i suppose I’ll go next. Everyone here knows about the satyrs reputation right?" they all nodded (with the exception of Akan). "Well i wasn't always a trickster. At first, i was a hellcaller. I tried to escape sageras's bonds after learning more about him."
Tan-zi interrupted. "Wait, i thought that satyrs followed him unconditionally?"
"Yes, but a few of us were born with morals. I tried to escape and, through an incredibly complex series of rituals, managed to leave his corrupting power for good. I left my staff behind and picked up the knife. A few years later, and i was one of the most powerful tricksters in banebreath. Then a whole bunch of adventures, from both the horde and the alliance, raided the camp. I was killed by a troll."
After he finished, he yawned and went into the cave, mumbling something about sleep. Gal went next.
"I was hit by a tauren shamans lightning. Simple."
Tan-zi said, "I don't want to talk about it."
