"Money equals freedom." - Kevin O'Leary
Money. The poison that passes for the blood in society. It is a tool that can be used properly and abused. It can sway a pony from rational thinking to becoming a cold-blooded killer. For four professionals, the case was that they knew how to use their money for great things. In public eyes, terrible... but great.
Octavia, the Mastermind. From the first day Octavia donned the mask, she knew that money had the power to turn and sway anyone. The first time she walked into a bank with her crew, opened the vault, and "liberated" the place of its reserves. She had a certain charisma that could both induce Stockholm and sway even the most hardened officers to drop their guns. She was an innocent, young girl once, but she never wanted to be remembered like that. Now she was the face everypony feared.
Thunderlane, the Enforcer. A four-year military veteran and heavy-lifter. He could easily carry twice his body weight in equipment and still have the strength to haul a bag filled with gold through a SWAT team. Ever since he was a kid, he challenged himself to be the best and to push himself, so he went straight to the source of all hardcore: the Equestrian SEALs. Sadly for him, his itchy trigger finger and unstable personality quickly cost him his military career. Afterwards, he offered his military expertise to the highest bidder. Currently, that bidder is the Heisters.
Roseluck, the Ghost. She couldn't hold a real job if her life counted on it. Sure, she had a flower stand in Ponyville, but with her lavish living style, it could've been in Canterlot and she still wouldn't be able to keep her lifestyle. She was forced to resort to a life of cons, but even that became too difficult to maintain, and to keep the loan sharks at bay, she was forced to commit her first felony at nineteen. The stakes have only gotten higher since.
Vinyl Scratch, the Technician. Obviously, she's like Roseluck; how does a DJ at a local nightclub make that much money? She doesn't. Not much is known about her other than the fact that she is not quite right in the head. She can be happy-go-lucky one minute and frothing with rage the next. Beyond that, though, she has proven herself worthy of the Heisters' trust through the simple fact that she can kill quickly and without regret.
Yet, even with sitting on millions of dollars of cash overseas, something seemed... wrong. Something plagued their conscience for too long. Two years ago, one of their own was captured. The Doctor. He had sat in prison, tried and convicted of murder and countless robberies, big and small. It just... wasn't right to keep going without the stallion. It wasn't right to replace him with a hardly-qualified member like Roseluck. Everypony knew it. Every single one of them had that same feeling in their gut days before a big heist. The same feeling they had when they made history and knocked over the Benevolent Bank a month ago.
It was time. The Doctor was ready.
HAYDAY: The Breakout
"What the hoof is this?" Roseluck asked, referring to a DVD case that arrived in the mail.
"Dunno... It's just marked 'The Dentist'," Vinyl responded. The Dentist was as mysterious as Vinyl was; the key difference being that nopony knew who she was and that she had connections in high places and a ruthless attitude. What was interesting is that, instead of going through the gang's contact, The Dentist showed up in person to Octavia. Octavia quickly learned that this... orthodontist... could gain information on anypony she desired; she mentioned the crew having to leave the Doctor behind during that fateful day. Instead of turning around and leaving, The Dentist mentioned that she could help free their "colleague", but at a cost. Octavia listened, and once the terms were sorted out, she agreed to help.
"Play the damn thing already!" Octavia barked.
"Don't get your panties in a wad! I was getting set to do that..." Vinyl inserted the DVD into the player, just as Thunderlane came in from the garage. The stallion spent so much time with that saw that the rest of the crew was getting worried he'd become another Vinyl.
"What's all the yellin' about?!" he bellowed. Octavia waved her hoof to him to come and see, her eyes firmly glued to the screen as the disc began to play. Static formed over the screen, which quickly faded to show the face of the Dentist. The crew watched in silence as the blue-coated mare on-screen spoke.
"Your work with the DA has paid dividends. You got me my payday, and now, you will have yours. I have scheduled a hastily-arranged re-trial for your colleague; however, this trial is a farce. It is an excuse to move him into a position where he can be intercepted. You are to intercept him and set him free." The four looked at each other with stunned silence as the video kept playing. On-screen was a three-dimensional map of the courthouse complex.
"Your colleague is currently being held here in the cell block five meters under the main floor. While it is impossible to access this particular area, you and your crew can slip behind the concrete wall via the city's flood drainage system, located here. From there, you merely have four inches of concrete separating you and your colleague. A... 'patient' of mine will drive a truck rigged with armor plating to pick up your friend. You will escort the truck on hoof through the city and into the parking garage located a few blocks away. Time is of the essence. You have twelve hours until your friend is beyond your help. Good luck." The screen went black and the video stopped.
Could it really be the day? Did the Dentist really get the Doctor a re-trial?
"You've gotta be kidding."
Every pair of eyes in the room, save Lady Justice's perhaps, darted towards Vinyl, who was still staring at the TV screen in disbelief. "What?" she said, shrugging. "I miss the guy; we all do." She did have a point there.
"Yeah... Alright." Octavia clapped her hooves together and rose from her chair. "We've got twelve hours to come up with a plan." The gray mare walked over to the DVD player, inspecting the case which the Dentist's message came in. Just as she expected, there were blueprints enclosed in an envelope on the inside. She relieved the case of its burden, and spoke up. "Ladies and gentlecolt, we have a job to do. To the Table."
The Heisters were in the basement room, sitting around their "famous" Planning Table. It was only called famous as a running joke involving the numerous arguments that erupted over the two years of them being in D.C.
"No, no, no! We're here! Doc is here!" Octavia shouted.
"You know tha drill won't go through tha cell block! The piece a' shit barely runs, anyhow!" Thunderlane yelled.
Roseluck rolled her eyes and muttered, "That's not the only around here that barely runs."
If looks could kill, Roseluck would be a bloody pulp on the floor. "The buck did you say?! I don't see you haulin' any a' tha loot outta anythin'!"
"Go buck yourself!" The whole room devolved into a frenzy, each of the Heisters arguing over whose idea was best. Octavia said storming the front door would work, while Roseluck insisted on drilling the concrete wall out. Thunderlane was... well, Thunderlane. He never was much for planning as much as he was for wrecking everything in his path.
"Give me one reason why we can't drill through!" Roseluck demanded.
"We don't exactly have bucking diamond bits!" Octavia yelled in response.
"Why don't we blast a hole in the wall?" Vinyl finally said over the commotion.
Octavia turned around, her eyes ablaze with fury as she started yelling at Vinyl now. "That won't bucking work! Do something other tha-" She stopped herself as she looked over the blueprints again, analyzing them in greater detail than before. Her initial surge of adrenaline wore off as she tried to put two and two together and discover Vinyl's idea. "What do you mean?"
Vinyl chuckled and pointed towards Thunderlane and Roseluck. "Get those two to stop and I'll explain."
Octavia clacked her hoof against the table twice, but that served little use to get their attention. After a more seconds of yelling, Octavia slapped the both of them across their cheeks. That seemed to do the trick, as they ceased their bickering. While the Ghost and Enforcer rubbed their reddening jawlines, Octavia turned back to Vinyl and motioned towards her. "Now then, Scratch. What were you saying?"
Vinyl smiled with glee as she pointed out a wall on the blueprints. "This here wall runs adjacent to the cell block, like the Dentist pointed out. If we climb into the storm drain and go a little further down, we can get to the weak point in the wall here. We still can't drill through it, but if we pack enough C4 into a hole we drill into the wall, say... two inches deep, we can blast a pony-sized hole in the wall. We'll give Doc a little signal to get down on the ground before we blow it, and when he is outta the way, kaboom! From there, we can neutralize anypony escorting the Doc, get him up and un-cuffed, then get him to street level and to the truck." The crew looked over the blueprints and saw exactly what Vinyl meant by that.
"Tha... migh' actually work," Thunderlane said. Roseluck and Octavia nodded in agreement.
"So we're all in agreement?" Octavia asked. Everypony there nodded once, and it was settled. "Good. We strike in ten hours. Now get some rest; we've got a long day ahead of us." With that, everypony in the room left, heading upstairs for some much-needed sleep. Once the gang was upstairs, Octavia pulled a wad of money off of Lady Justice's scale, and the floor shifted back into place over the stairwell, concealing the basement. Tossing the cash onto the dining table nearby, the mare got onto her cot and slipped into the sleeping bag.
"Tavi?" Roseluck asked suddenly.
"Yeah?"
"You still miss him?" Octavia had to think the question over for a moment. They all missed the Doc, but not in the same way as Octavia did.
"... Yes..." she said. Tears were welling up in her eyes just thinking about him.
"Well, don't worry. We'll get him back," Roseluck said, placing a hoof on Octavia's.
"Thanks. Night, Rose."
"Night, Tavi."
Even though the notion of "good night" was truly meant, both of the mares had a hunch that Octavia would not be sleeping tonight. Octavia lay on her cot, staring blankly up at the ceiling as she listened to the slow ticking of the clock on the other side of the room.
It's two o'clock in the bucking morning, Octavia thought. I wonder if he still... She couldn't even finish her mental sentence as the tears that had built up began rolling down her cheek. She couldn't help but cry at the mere thought of her lover. The Mastermind, for all that she was—charismatic, beautiful, and composed, began to cry softly. A part of her missed the Doctor while a part of her couldn't wait to be reunited with him. She had her chance to save him, and she could not fail. If she did, he would be forever gone. That was a torment that she could no longer bear. It was only in her dreams could she ever escape the pain. Octavia turned over, silently weeping as she edged ever so closer to Luna's realm. Eventually, her sobbing subsided, her body unable to continue as she fell out of consciousness and into the dream world...
Soft grass tickled at Octavia's fur... Celestia's sun shown brightly against the outcrop of the Canterlot mountains... yet it all seemed so dim. At least in this world...
"Octavia?" ... she could find solace with her lover. The Mastermind's ears twitched towards the source of the noise, her head following quickly before her vision yielded to... him. The most perfect stallion in the entire universe. "Octavia!"
The Doctor ran towards his other half as Octavia stood up and mirrored his movements, the both of them darting at each other. Their bodies met in a gentle yet tight embrace as Octavia giggled like she was a little filly again. "Oh, Doctor... I... I-"
"Shh..." he said, putting a hoof to her silky lips "It's okay, my sweet. I missed you, too." The two looked deeply into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity. Words could not describe what they both felt. Their muzzles inched closer and closer as they eyed each other, their lust for one another growing by the second. Suddenly, Octavia tackled the Doctor, pinning him in place as she started grinding her hips against him. "My, my, Octavia. Somepony missed me," the stallion teased.
"You have no idea..." Octavia groaned, her marehood already growing wet with anticipation. Two years of no sex had certainly taken a toll on her, as was clear by the matted, damp fur on the Doctor's crotch. She looked at him with half-lidded eyes and put her muzzle within an inch of his as she said in as sultry a voice as she could muster, "Buck me silly, lover boy~"
How could any stallion refuse?
Octavia lined up the Doc's rod with her slit, preparing to take it all in at once. With how sensitive she knew she would be down there, she wouldn't hold on for long. She looked back at him with a loving yet commanding smile, and he returned her non-verbal question with a nod. She inched closer to him as-
"Octavia..." Wait... That wasn't the Doctor's voice.
"Octavia?"
Octavia awoke with a start to see Vinyl eyeballing her. "Tavi, are you okay?" Octavia checked over herself, and she had to stuff a hoof in her mouth to avoid waking the room and causing her further embarrassment. Apparently, while she was asleep, she had wedged a pillow in between her hind legs, grinding against it subconsciously. "Going for a 'ride', I see," Vinyl giggled, hardly able to contain herself.
"Shut up, Scratch!" Octavia whisper-yelled. Her ordinarily controlling charm had been somewhat shattered by her blush, nervous frown, and wet crotch.
"It's okay, Tavi. I won't say anything," Vinyl assured. "Just... try not to wake the others when you..." She bucked her rear hips forward to finish the sentence. "Okay?"
Octavia rolled her eyes, unsure whether Vinyl was being sarcastic or not. "Yeah, yeah. Just go back to sleep." Vinyl nodded and silently returned back to her cot, and once she was there, Octavia turned over and closed her eyes, whimpering softly as she desperately humped the pillow, begging for her dream to return.
