There's a Mare in the Woods.

What a spectacle.

Before this story started, this school was still respectable.

The little fillies and colts would skip down the hill to the honey suckle, pluck a couple, and collect their nectar till they picked their fill.

Except for one little foal, Lemon Roll.

She just watched them eat their flowers, while she seethed and scowled, because she could not bear to share her sweet treats during recess hour.

I remember her saying “There’s a mare in the woods!”

That’s when the rumors began.

Of course Lemon had spotted him first.

Those poor foals, she got them immersed in her spiel about a serial killer, who’s eyes glint hints of death and terror.

A cry of their ail, or worse, bodies that lay pale just beyond the vale.

The foals saw him everywhere.

“Look over there! That mare had Fruit Bat ears, We swear! And bloodshot eyes! We saw something rusty, her hatchet? It must be! She drug a severed thigh!”

Trust me, every word I heard was absurd.

Yet each day Lemon Roll would trot down past the playground.

Who else but she to save us from the killer's next plot.

The rest of the lot would stop at the hilltop.

Sure that any closer they were bound to be found deep in the woods, left to rot.

I begged them to ignore Lemon, to learn to be mature, but a few more rumors doomed my attempts to prove the school was secure.

Their fear was unbreakable, its grip held them tight and when they went back home, their parents feared for their foal's safety at night.

Everything just blew up.

I received mountains of letters and scrolls, scribbled with shrieks, wails, and all, from terrified families who heard word of the murder, and did not like my lack of action at all.

What was I supposed to do, search the whole forest?

Yea right, would you?

That doesn't mean that I did not care, it's so unfair, I loved the foals, every last one!

These tall tales were falsified, and very poorly spun.

Of course I would feel regret, have there been a real threat, and I ignored it.

You act as if some poor filly were foalnapped, while the rest were napping.

But you wouldn't admit that your good little filly could ever formulate a fib, so you ignored what I said.

Your little brain could not handle such an unforgivable accusation.

"It's not just overactive imagination!"

"A life of lies, my child would never pursue, how dare you!?"

"Accuse a kid of being dishonest, just monstrous."

The parents were more than pleased when Mayor Mare took action, they dismissed me from the classroom.

Like they knew what was best for their foals.

You know how difficult it is to get a job, when some bitter old mare slanders your rep with child neglect, not caring who it may affect?

Thanks to HER, my life spun out of control, my life, utterly ruined by some insolent foal.

Can't you see, would you really believe THEM over me?!

I've nothing now, my Garden is no longer my own.

I have no job, no money, and no home.

Yet I refuse to give up until I taste retribution!

I will not despair like one who faces execution, though I may soon enough.

The hate clouds my empathy like noxious gasses!

Now who’s in control of your classes?!

Single file line, Single file lines reek of that foul swine, that filly will hang from the pines!

Are you blind,  when will you find your spines?

She's got to die, soon she'll speak no more lies!

Lemon, a filly you let fill your minds with lies, and the next thing you see, is people treating ME like I committed a crime!

I was in my prime!

Those foals were lucky to have me!

You see what she did?!

.......But I can play along, I'll bode my time, little foal.

I can be good.

Do you hear that Lemon Roll?

I'M the Mare In The Woods.
