Lyra sat down on her plumped pillow, quill in hand, ready to write her new symphony: L'amour du cœur. Her inspiration for writing music was her love for, and from, her friends. Infact, her first piece of music was called: Prendre soin de mes amis, roughly translated to caring for my friends. She relished in the thought that one day she would be in the Royal Canterlot Ochestra and that her friends would be cheering her on.
"I can not wait until Bon-Bon can see my new masterpeice," She said, barely containing her excitment.
Then there was a knock at the door, breaking Lyras trail of thought. She got onto her hooves and went to the door. It creaked when she opened it, making a loud noise that filled her ears. Infront of her A mail pony appeared carrying a heavy parcel.
"Delivery for miss..." The mail pony paused, reading the label. "Lyra heartstrings."
"That's me!" The unicorn trotted over and took the parcel from the mare at the door, placing it on the table. "Oh and Derpy..."
"Yes!" The pegasus at the door shouted, not expecting the the mint pony to know her name.
"You do not have to be so formal, we are all friends here in Ponyville " The unicorn said smiling. At this the pegasus grinned and flew off into the distance. Lyra sighed and trotted back to her pillow. all of a sudden a golden glow illuminates the room, almost blinding her. Shocked, Lyra galloped over and what she saw terrified her...
You see the parcel Derpy delivered was her repaired lyre after she shipped of to spike a few days ago (of course it was a weeek late though) Lyra expected the Lyre to be spick and spam after the baby dragon had cleared it up, instead, it was cracked and rusted. Mould was seeping up the edges and black goo started coming out of the top.
"AAAHHH" lyra screamed as she stared at her most precious posession being destroyed. She ran out of the room, out of the house, out into the street still screaming and crying. Many ponies had swung open the door and were staring at the one mare screaming and crying in the middle of the street. One pony in particular rushed to the ponies aid.
"Honey! Are you ok? Quick come with me!" but lyra, could not move. She was to shocked about what she saw. What was that? Then she closed her eyes...
Lyra opened her eyes to see a beautiful cosy cottage decorated with well kept furniture everywhere. Lyra, in dismay to discover this was not her house, immediatly sat up.
"Calm yourself" Said a sweet calming, voice from the other room.
"Who are you, what am I doing here!" The mint mare shrieked
"You don't remember? You were screaming, I took you in" Now it hit her. Her lyre, Her most precious possesion...
"AAAHHH" screamed Lyra now remembering what happened.
"Not again!" The mystery pony suddenly emerged from the shadow and rushed over. "Tell me what happened, I can help!" The new pony infront of her was a Yellow mare with blue and pink streaks in her hair. She had three sweets for a cutie mark which made Lyra suddenly recognise the sweet shop owner.
"Bon-Bon?" Lyra asked, is that you.
"yes its me, now what happened" The sweetie pony replied in a sweet soft tone.
"well, my Lyre it..." She said fumbling with her words.
"It..." Bon-Bon looked at Lyra worried. "What happened Lyra?" she sighed and trotted over to her kitchen and poured her guest a cup of tea. Lyra listened to the boiling of the kettle and the clattering of spoons and sugar pots. She came back with two cups on a tray and handed it to her. "Here this may help"
"Thank.. yo- you" She stammered and continued. "I asked Spike to clean my lyre then I"
"You trusted Spike?" Bon-Bon interupted.
"Yes" Lyra said quite bitterly, annoyed that she had been interupted. "anyway, then derpy delivered it this morning and i sat it down on the table" she stopped, took a sip, then continued. "I left it there then went back to writing L'amour du cœur"
"What does that mean?" The yellow mare interupted again. The unicorn just scowled.
"do you WANT to know what happened?" She said. Bon-Bon gulped
"Yes"
"Then do not say anything. So, as I was saying. After I sat down a bright light shone through an almost blinded me"
"WOW really!" The earth pony said before quickly regreting it.
"BON-BON!"
"Sorry, sorry... carry on" She said shoveling the pillow of the sofa.
"I rushed into the room and what I saw was... was, my lyre. It was cracked and mould was growing up the sides and black goo was coming out the top" Bon-Bons eyes were wide open in utter shock. Had her friend really seen this or was Lyra just playing one of her pranks.
"Can I see it?" Lyras friend asked.
"No, it is to dangerous, I think I need to.." She stopped. "Destroy it" Bon-Bon gasped.
"No Lyra, it is your most treasured possesion!"
"But what happened its to dangerous to risk happening again!" Her friend reached over and intertwined there hooves.
"Lyra, If that really what you want." The mare explained, only wanting the best for her friend. Just then I bright lght shone for the other room alarming both of the mares.
"OH NO!" They both cried out in unison! They both knew what it was and they were terrified. They galloped for there lives towards the front door Lyra crying. Why is this happening? What caused this? Who did this to it? All this question were far to much for Lyra and she fainted for the second time for that day.
