Fluttershy Runs for President

Fluttershy woke up to the sound of pouring rain. As she lifted herself out of bed, she passed by all of her animal friends, waving hello to her on this rainy day. She smiled back at them as she went down the stairs to greet her closest friend, Angel Bunny. She saw Angel by the stairs, and she picked him up as she flapped her wings, taking the two up to the ceiling of the cottage.
"Oh, Angel Bunny. Everything is so boring here sometimes! I wish I could do something to add some fun to my life."
Fluttershy went back to the ground of her cottage, setting Angel back on the fuzzy carpet. Fluttershy turned on her TV, knowing that Animal Rescue Squad would be on. She flipped the TV on, and sat back down on her couch. Unfortunately for Fluttershy, commercials were rolling. Just my luck. Fluttershy thought as an advertisement to tour Twilight's castle was on. Suddenly, the ad changed to a political ad. Fluttershy turned the volume up on the TV a bit as she listened to the mayor's voice on TV.
"Have you ever wanted to help others? Have you ever wanted to watch over Ponyville? Have you ever wanted a big stack of bits? If you said yes to any of these questions, come on down to the Town Hall to register yourself as a candidate for Ponyville's first president! We're running out of forums fast, so trot on down!" The ad ended.
Fluttershy thought about her life. Then she thought about this new life. Exciting, fun, and awesome. The exact opposite of her life now. Fluttershy made a decision that will change her life.
Fluttershy was going to be running to be Ponyville's first ever president!
"Angel! I know what I'm going to do with my life! I'm going to be Ponyville's leader! Nopony will say hurtful things about me anymore. I'll open up new flight camps, to her ponies like me get over her fear of flight. I'll build new animal shelters for the poor lost critters. I might even become a princess, just like my friend Twilight."
Angel just stared at Fluttershy with a unsure stare.
Fluttershy grabbed her saddlebags and ran out the door, heading toward Town Hall.
"I'll be back Angel!" Fluttershy called out the door as she flew threw the rain.
Fluttershy finally arrived at Town Hall. She had to talk to her friends on her way here, wasting precious time. Fluttershy thought they were out of forums by now, considering how much time Rarity spend fixing her mane from the branches she had hit. Fluttershy struggled to see in the rain, but she saw one forum left. She swiftly flew down to the table, and scooped up the forum. She quickly filled it out, and then put it on the pile, where all the others had put there forums. Upon looking at the top of the pile, she saw Derpy's name on a forum, and Maud's on another. She would have some real competition now.
The door in Town Hall opened, and Mayor Mare stepped out of the building. She was carrying election ballots in her saddlebags, and a box was set up near Fluttershy. Mayor Mare went up to the podium and started to talk.
"Citizens of Ponyville! We are proud to announce we will be holding Ponyville's elections tomorrow! We have chosen 3 candidates that I think would be great leaders. Without further waiting we present our candidates!"
Fluttershy watched in fear as Derpy went up to the front of the town. Her fear grew even larger as Maud Pie was called. Fluttershy knew the mayor would never pick someone as meek and timid as her. Fluttershy broke away from the crowd as she slowly trotted home.
"Oh, its no use. The mayor won't pick me. I'm too shy and weak. I'll never make a good leader." Fluttershy said quietly to herself, a tear rolling down her face.
The mayor was still endlessly babbling. "Our third candidate is one that I think will make a great leader. We present; Fluttershy!"
Fluttershy suddenly turned around at the sound of her name. The rain magically stopped, and the sun was shining. Fluttershy slowly flew to the stage, beaming with happiness. She couldn't believe the mayor had picked her. Meek, timid, and shy. Maybe she did have a chance.
The mayor started to speak again. "Everypony, go home and think about your choice. Tomorrow we decide who our president will be!"
The ponies of Ponyville stomped their hooves in approval, and went home to think who to elect.
Fluttershy also went home as well. She opened the door to her cottage, and all her animal friends were cheering for her. She walked in, and turned on the TV. Animal Rescue Squad was still on, and she still had a chance to see it. Instead of a show, more commercials were playing, but these commercials were different. They weren't the typical "Shop at Ponyville Market', or 'Twilight's Library' ad, these were political ads.
The TV was blasting ads on the candidates. Most of them were about Derpy or Maud, and only a few Fluttershy ads. She looked at the ads, and realized ponies would vote for the others now. She continued to watch Animal Rescue Squad, but the presidential issue was still on her mid. She decided she needed to give a speech, like all good campaigners. So, Fluttershy set off once again, to campaign so she would become president.
"Um... h-hello... I'm F-Fluttershy, and I am running f-for president...." Fluttershy was speaking to about 100 ponies in Ponyville market, and Fluttershy was scared to death. She contiued to talk, despite her fears. "I-If you vote for me.... I'll open up new shelters for animals... so all the lonely critters in Ponyville can have a loving home."
The ponies in the market cheered, and Fluttershy continued to talk about what she would do for the town. After 2 frighting hours, all of Ponyville had heard Fluttershy's voice. Evening was close approaching, and Fluttershy returned home, where she slept peacefully and dreamed of being the president of Ponyville.
The next day, Fluttershy awoke to the chatter of her animal friends, urging her to get to town hall. Fluttershy got up after 10 minutes of trying to get out of bed, and then she looked at her clock. Fluttershy was supposed to be at Town Hall at 9:00 am, and after reading the clock she realized she was 5 minutes late.
"Oh Goodness! I'm late!" Fluttershy said as she frantically got ready for the big reveal. She swiftly flew out the door, flying as fast as she possibly could. She finally arrived at Town Hall, seven minutes late and out of breath. The mayor welcomed Fluttershy, and started to talk. Fluttershy wasn't concerned about anything the mayor was talking about, she was only thinking about if she lost. She would either have to live under Maud's rock town, or eat muffins for the rest of her life. At last, the mayor had finished her speech, and was ready to let the town vote.
Voting didn't take long at all, it only took 45 minutes, and after another 45 minutes of sorting the votes, the mayor returned, only holding a slip of paper. She went back to the podium, ready to announce the winner.
"Mares and geltlecolts! We are proud to announce the winner of Ponyville's first presidential election! I will be saying who didn't win first, so please stay with me!"
Fluttershy was tensing up. She knew it was her who was the loser. She hoped that it would be Derpy or Maud, just not her.
The mayor spoke once again. "I'm sorry, Derpy. You are not Ponyville's president."
Derpy barely looked disappointed. "I just don't know what went wrong." Derpy flew off, leaving only Maud and Fluttershy left at the front.
"Now, the moment you've all been waiting for! The winner of the first Ponyville presidential election is......"
Fluttershy wax prepared to hear Maud's name. She braced herself for the impact.
"Fluttershy!"
Fluttershy heard her name. She was the winner. She was Ponyville's first president. Fluttershy started to cry as she stepped up to the podium where the mayor once was. She started to speak to the ponies.
"Oh my Goodness! I never expected this. Thank you, all of you. I promise to be the best presidents Ponyville will ever see!"
