A change, a revolution

Chapter one: Aftermath

Smoke, smoke and pain. Those were the first things that Red felt when he woke from his temporary death. The smoke still was rising front the top of the building, the bodies still sprawled across the plaza. After enduring and breaking through a wall of pain he finally got up and looked around. The Presdium was looking fine but the main city was deavstated. A thick black behemoth of a smoke cloud rose up from the fires of the city. He could hear explosions and the combat going on and the crackling sound of the fires. He made his way out into the Presdium and gazed upon the hill neighbourhood. It was calm, safe and mostly none of the buildings were on fire which was a key piece of evidence that the darkness that was stricken upon Canterlot was not on the Presdium Hills. He had to get out of the city, the revolution was in full swing and no doubt that the Equestrian Government was out to gut his throat like a fish. He remembered an old contact he had in the Presdium called Soarin, he was ex-Wonderbolt and had helped organised a demonstration for him during the Wonderbolts festival last year. If he still lived in the Presdium he could help if he hadn't joined the revolution.

Suddenly he fell to his knees, his mind was blurring up like some sort of power corrupting his soul. He could hear whispering and children laughing, then silence. The silence was cut by horrific screams and the sounds of fires burning and swords clashing. The whispering cultures louder as he dropped onto his back, like many of the other ponies around him. Suddenly the sounds became a vision, playing out like a video around him. He saw royal guards charging and killing children as they tried to run away from the horrors unfolding before them. He saw the revolutionaries charge forwards at the guards, swords drawn and covered in blood.

Then suddenly broke apart and turned to dust, spiralling around and finally vanishing upon touching the ground. He kept telling himself what he saw wasn't real and that it was just an illusion messing with his head yet he gazed upon the city and thought it wasn't an illusion, but a vision of the future. The fires consuming the city were still roaring, clouding the sky of the area and burning away at the home of millions yet the palace was untouched. 'If the Revolutionaries were causing the havoc then why didn't they attack the palace?' He thought to himself, bringing himself to his hooves and he began on his journey to find Soarin.
