//-------------------------------------------------------// Rain Falls At Night -by TheTraxicEnd- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Desired //-------------------------------------------------------// Desired Cloudy skies covered the crescent moon of which one pony desired everyone to see its majestic splendor. Princess Luna, the Organizer of the Night, looked at her vast expanse in dismay, the dull, grey patches of clouds hindered her vision of her wonderful night sky. The eloquence of her stature and design: her starry mane waved gently in the breeze, her eyes glistened from the light that barely escaped the barriers of the clouds, and her position which allowed her to view her glorious kingdom; all of this pinpointed her natural beauty. But now, the skies betrayed her, for it rained plentifully on her plight. The rain soaked her immaculate mane, covered the remaining rays, and blurred her view of the rest of her realm. Luna could not pretend to let this go as she raced into her room, closing the door swiftly with a spell or two. The large oak doors smacked together with a long, echoing snap. Luna feared that this particular night would be blocked out by the rainstorm. A sudden, boisterous clap of lightning reverberated throughout the castle as it shook the foundation to its core. Luna felt its power, her body shook to the ends of her hooves, the tingly sensations pinched her nerve endings with a fierce vice. She cannot go to sleep now, she must ride out the storm. She sighed and closed her curtains. Luna returned to her royal-sized bed, the sheets lay in disarray, coiled due to the absence of her missing form. Annoyed and bored, the Princess seized the opportunity and laid herself down, plopping into the comforts of her plush pillows and cozy sheets. Her eyes began to close, the world around her turned to black. Maybe she could get some sleep. Maybe the storm will never come back. Luna woke to the beauty of her night skies who were freed from their concealment, their prison of grey could not hold them hostage. Her eyes filled with moisture as a result, the storms were gone. Maybe, just maybe, she’ll enjoy her precious deviation, her joyous organization of stars and moon will hopefully stay for the remainder of its time. Unfortunately, not all those who participated in the cruel storm dissipated, for a few spotty grey clouds hovered over the moon’s vision. Luna frowned. No cloud should hinder her night sky, she worked very hard for it. After all, Hearth’s Warming Eve is the night of all nights, where couples dance and sing under her moon’s soft glare. They kissed, cuddled, and snuggled; couples proclaimed their love in all fashions of the word under this night. But something felt missing, a heart felt hollow. Luna didn’t know whose heart it was, for her’s was beating just fine. This did not quell her sense of curiosity as Luna walked out on her long, spacious balcony. She peered down in hopes of finding the location of this poor, empty pony. To no avail would she find them, for her talent does not transcend those bounds. Princess Cadance. Luna smiled. She could ask her about the fate of this pony’s hollow shell. Suddenly, Luna felt a rather painful pulse course through her veins, her core shook just as much as the thunder did but with an undying vengeance. She wanted to investigate this matter, for no pony should be saddened under her righteous vision. Princess Luna flared her two, large wings, the span attempted to reach for the stars. Nothing became of her, but some pony became something she fears, hates, despises. She does not want anypony to have felt this hollow sadness, something that she felt when her sister banished her from Equestria. The pain from the banishment left an everlasting impression on her facial expression. Her sister had problems looking in her eyes, for age jaded Luna’s beauty. After a stretch or two, Princess Luna began her flight, launching off the balcony with elegance. It was only a short flight away from reaching the visiting Princess’s room, the chambers of the love expert was directly beside her spire. The towers’ sizes varied, but none too great for an ancient pony such as herself. The Princess landed on the third alicorn’s balcony, whose connecting tower was the smallest of them all. It gave Luna only a slight bit of breathing room, her face nearly tapped against the glass entrance. She sighed happily. It would’ve been fatal if she woke up her dear nephew. Thankfully, balance is kept by Luna’s quiet tiptoeing skills as she stepped back enough to acquire more room. The small, little world of Canterlot would not be harmed tonight. Luna quietly observed her prey who slept peacefully on the mattress which adorned those wonderfully crafted pink and purple sheets. Luna had to be quiet, for if she woke up this mare, the whole castle could burn in seconds from the seething rage of an angered Princess of Love. Courage was her virtue as Luna opened the glass slide-in door, her eyes pinned on her prey. The door softly clicked in place, the sound made the Princess froze as she stood. She hoped to the stars above that Cadance did not hear that blasted sound. Thankfully Cadance only squirmed in her sheets, murmuring a few inaudible noises before she overturned,  her head landed into the fluffy goodness of pink. Luna sighed softly before she processed into the room, and slowly clip-clopped her way over to the bedside of the love professional. Luna stared blankly at the pink fluffball who was ensnared in the confines of her own fluffy demise. Time to put my plan into action. The intruder smirked, her eyes focused on the head of Cadance, who snored loudly while drool spilled onto her pillow. Luna giggled lightly before she bent down, her hind legs outstretched. With one giant leap, the Princess soared through the love-like air before she landed on top of the furball. Said furball yelped on impact, her eyes crossed as she rolled over to see her hunter. Princess Luna smiled down at Cadance, a wide smile graced her lips. “Dearest Cadance!” she happily announced in a rambunctious tone while she nuzzled the frightened mare. “I require thy assistance!” Cadance shrieked as she saw the large pony sit on top of her. “Luna!” “Yes, that is I thou speaks of!” Luna said with a radiant smile. Cadance groaned as she attempted to shift her position, but to no avail as Luna’s weight rested on her torso. “Can you please get off me?” Cadance said with a groggy, yet loud tone. “Thou must pledge her undying allegiance to my plight, for thou shalt be the only one who knows of the solution to this emotional business!” “Does this really have to be done now?” Cadance questioned with a long-winded whine. “Yes!” insinuated Luna while she prodded Cadance’s cheek with her dirty, right fore hoof. The other party grimaced slightly, annoyed by the pestering of her other auntie. “I felt a hollow disturbance…” “Hollow?” Cadance asked, her eyes still crossed from the impact she received prior. “Yes,” Luna replied, her head hung low. “I felt the pony’s hollowness.” Cadance titled her head.  “How do you know it was a pony?” “I felt everything about her.” Cadance blushed. “O-oh, so do you know of this pony?” Luna shook her head in response. Cadance groaned. “Well, in order for me to do anything, I’m going to need to know the pony…” Luna frowned as she stepped off Cadance’s body. “I… I had the feeling of the pony but had no idea of his or her whereabouts,” Luna stated, her mind rattled off words at a breakneck pace. Cadance raised an eyebrow. “You felt them?” Luna nodded. “Can you try to focus on that feeling?” Cadance asked as she titled her to the side. “Of course,” Luna said while she closed her eyes. She began to imagine her, but all she felt was her feelings. But Luna knew she was a female. Pain, tears; suffering, fears; Luna knew these feelings too well. With this mixture, anypony would drown in their sorrowful mood, but Luna was not one of those ponies. “This may hurt, Auntie,” Cadance murmured from behind Luna. What? The gates opened. The feelings rushed in. She felt them all at once, her face contorted, her eyes felt shorted, her mouth unhinged, her hooves cupped her face, her eyes felt bloodshot; nothing was normal. Luna cried and wailed while Cadance observed her every movement. Luna saw the pony. She was near a waterfall. She was a rainbow. She was cyan. She was beautiful. As soon as she observed the rain, the night tore her vision apart, the connection ceased it’s primary existence as it too died with its feelings. “So, did you get a good look?” “What did thou do t—” Cadance shoved her hoof in Luna’s mouth. “Shhh, Auntie! Do you want to wake up everypony in the castle?” Luna shook her head and shoved Cadance’s hoof away. “But what did you do to us?” “I gave you a gateway to the pony you’re feeling.” Luna gawked at Cadance. “You can do that?” “Luna, you’ve known me for how long?” She sighed. “Not long enough, apparently…” Cadance giggled, her quiet, soft laughter drew a cold stare from Luna, whose eyes show no mercy to the one who mocked her. Cadance sighed, ignoring the other party’s glare. “So, did you see who it was?” “I know she was a rainbow-headed mare,” Luna said with a shrug. Cadance smirked. “Oh?” “Yes, she was a pegasus that looked down on herself by a waterfall…” “Waterfall?” Cadance titled her head. “You mean the one by Winsome Falls?” Luna gasped. “Yes, I believe it was! There were rainbows everywhere and I—” She stopped her rambling when she spotted Cadance’s face, the younger alicorn sported a nice, large grin. Cadance snickered. “I think you found the answer to your problem,” Cadance began as she looped her fore hoof around Luna’s neck. “Now all you have to do is fix it.” Luna didn’t need to be told twice as she nodded, galloped out of the room, and took flight,  the door left wide open for a certain somepony to close. Cadance sighed. “Couldn’t she at least shut the door?”
