A young colt awakens a few hours before the rest of the crystal empire, and makes his way to Ponyville, where he is taken in by a local and through an interesting series of events, finds himself apprenticed to one of the most powerful unicorn mages in Equestrian history.
This story begins just as Princess Cadence and Shining Armour enter the Crystal Empire for the first time. The story progresses, and may or may not include references to what happens in the series.
