Vanilla Chapter 1 - Another big change (Preview)
It's nothing new to be limited. But even your incompetence has to have a limit itself. My history is but a maze now that I have lived in Equestria for about a year. I eventually got used to everything, regardless of how rare, legendary, or mystical it may be. The only sad thing about it is…
I'm not part of that legend.
My friends are, and they always will be. I'm happy for them, but there are times where I just want to help out even a little bit. I however seem to find myself in the heap of trouble somewhere along the way.
But it's not all bad. After all, I'm dating someone special, I have a wonderful family and a group of friends to be with, what else could a girl ask for?
No more weird things to shatter it apart.
---
I woke up and looked to my side of my very own special somepony. Placing my hand around his ear, I scratch it gently making him rise with a blissful yawn. He looks towards my direction with his shining eyes.
"Good morning Ana." He greets me.
"Good morning Shining." I say to him.
He kisses me lightly on the forehead, making me blush. I got up and stretched as he stayed in bed. I raised my brow at him. For a tough nut in the guard duty, he was pretty lazy when he wasn't on the job.
Walking to the bathroom, I brushed my teeth, did my hair, and tried to make sure I looked city ready. Shining? He'll get up soon. If not, I can always get the hose and spray him with water.
I went downstairs and made a quick breakfast. Eggs and toast makes my day. Once Shining smells what's going on downstairs, he'll come running down too. As the eggs sizzled onto the pan, I looked around to view what I had achieved. My house, that I paid for. I'm glad the year long working finally gotten me this far. Shining was an unexpected pony to come into my life, but I'm happy about it.
After placing the eggs on some plates next to the toast, I set it on the table where Shining was already sitting by.
"Oh sweet! I love it when you make this!" He said gratefully.
"Just don't choke on it like you did last time." I remarked. "Rarity had to get me another shirt after that."
"Heh, I was hoping you'd forget."
"I will never forget that."
A while later, a knock happens upon my door. I open it and see Twilight with a frustrated expression. I backed up, unsure of what her intention was. She stepped into the room with a loud huff.
"How could you Ana!?" She scolded.
"Do what!?" I question.
"Twilight! What's the matter?" Shining asks while taking another bite from his breakfast. Gee, thanks for the support Shiny.
"You know what you did!" She exclaimed. "Why aren't you getting married!?"
Shining spat out his breakfast to my face. I glared at his insecure smile before replying to Twilight.
"What do you mean married?"
"It's been months since you two have been dating! How come you haven't made your vows yet!?"
"Twilight! Do you know how serious marriage is!?" I retorted. "It's something you really gotta commit to!"
"But you and Shining are perfect for each other!" Twilight claimed. "You said it yourself! You have time to see him! You love the things he does! You even like how dorky he acts when he tries to compliment you!"
"I'm dorky?" He repeats it with slight irritation.
"In a good way." I assured him with a nervous grin. I turned back to Twilight and continued. "Anyways, I know it seems okay at first, but it's better to be on the safe side then just gamble it. I mean, just look at Shining and Cadence!"
I pause at the realization of what I just said. Before I could take it back, Shining placed his hoof around me and said, "It's alright. I told you, I'm not ashamed about it."
"See? Shining got over it! And nopony disagrees with you two being together!" Twilight states.
"But it's a big leap of life Twilight!" I told her. "I just don't think now is a good time."
"Do you plan on leaving my brother?" Twilight asks with those big puppy dog eyes. I stepped away from her due to the fact that I cannot stand how adorable that is. For some reason, Twilight was the only one who affected me.
"Of course not!" I answered without hesitation. "I love Shining Armor! I'm not gonna leave him!"
"Then why don't you two get married!?" She questions once more.
I didn't have a reason, but I just thought it was too soon. I know we've been going out for a pretty long time, but that itself wasn't a good enough reason to just do it. Before I even muttered out a fake reason, Shining agreed.
"You have a point Twilight." Shining states as he walked to the couch. He reached for something underneath and pulled out a small little box. My eyes shrunk as I realized what it was. He went up to me and said, "To be honest, I wanted a more special moment to look back on, but I guess this will do too. I've been wanting to do this for a long time."
He bowed to me, making me eyes shrink. Twilight hopped in place with glee as Shining opened the box and revealed a ring for a human to wear. I was shocked.
"Ana, will you marry me?"
-----
"He did what!?" Fluttershy and Rarity questioned.
I slid into the tub of warm water, soaking away my stress from earlier today. Being in the spa with my tea time friends was what I needed. Who wants to go to work with that much stress? Luckily, Spitfire is okay for letting me off the hook for today. After explaining what happened this morning, Rarity was gleefully chatty while Fluttershy simply smiled. I was a bit on edge.
"That's wonderful Ana!" Fluttershy commended me.
"Truly marvelous!" Rarity added to that effect. "Who would've know Twilight swooped in to get you engaged, and Shining was planning to do it for some time now!"
"I don't know what to think." I said with a sigh. "At least being engaged doesn't technically make me married just yet. I don't want to go through the work of picking out clothes, people, and the place of marriage. It takes too long and is so boring!"
"But it's beyond worth the trouble dear!" Rarity lectured. "Why, if I were you, I'd be embracing every moment of my life to making my marriage just perfect! Oh! But enough about me! What are you going to do about your dresses?"
"What." I responded.
"Oh! Do you need music? My birds know how to make the perfect melody for your wedding day!" Fluttershy offered.
"I… um…"
"Oh! And you'll need to invite all of your friends! Don't forget your brother either!"
"Uh…"
Like my morning, this relaxing spa turned into a day for planning. I wasn't pleased. I could be talking about this stuff at my job. This was what I was talking about! A big change in everything and next thing you know, I'll be…
Shining better not want kids…
