"so today is the day right son"
my mom's voice waking me from my half asleep state as i walked into the kitchen.
"huh what you say mom"
i said groggily with a chuckle she repeated herself
"i said today is the big day"
i gave her a confused look at first then it hit me
"oh yeah it is that day i guess"
i said as i sat down
"oh come now sugarcube its not everyday that a pony for a pair of filly foolers gets into Celestia school for gifted unicorns now is it"
came my other mom's voice as she sat down setting my breakfast in front of me. now i knew that the princess was going to get a lot of flack for as someponies say
"letting the unnatural spawn of those damn filly foolers in to such a highly prestigious school"
the truth was i wasn’t their biological foal i was adopted by them only fore mouths ago. i swallowed and spoke
“can you guys come to Canterlot with me please i down want to travel all those miles alone”
my mom smiled brightly as she said
“why of of course we can isn't that right dear”
she taped my other moms foreleg with her hoof
“hmm yeah we can squirt”
she said with out looking up from her paper. I forced a smile to try and seem more happy then what i was the truth is i am scared that ill get made fun off for being from the type of family i am from but i do not know what having them come along because having everypony seeing my moms wing around her wife’s back wouldn’t make school any easier on me. My mom looked up from her paper at last just in time to see the fake smile fade for a second
“all right squirt”
she said as she watched me just under her rainbow mane ‘whats wrong” i hesitated trying to find words to say it without hurting their feelings but failed so i just shook my
head
“bull now tell us whats wrong” she said i again shook my head just them my other mom spoke up
“oh i get it he is afraid that he’ll be made fun of at school for us being his parents”
i bit my lip and looked down avoiding eye contact with either one of them waiting to get called ungrateful, just like them, or worse even get smacked for being embarrass by them as had happen in most of the other homes i was placed into over the past fifteen years of my life by them but they both just smiled and came around the table and hugged me tight. Out of instinct i started to shake and cry they both jumped back thinking they had hurt me “did we do something wrong sugarcube”my mom asked just then there was a knock on the door i heard one of them go answer it
“oh hi Fluttershy AJ regal and i were just talking and we hugged him after we found out that he is scared that he’ll me made fun of because of us and he well broke down shaking and crying”
i heard them come in to the kitchen and miss Fluttershy say
“oh my applejack can you get him to his room for me please” with that my mom picked me up on her back and carried me back to my room and set me on the bed “now can
you two leave us alone for a minute or two please” miss Fluttershy said
“sure thing sugarcube we will be in the yard if y'all need us”
Fluttershy nodded and smiled and started rubbing my back with her hoof
“shh its okay don’t cry i’m here”
i sank even farther into my bed hopping she wouldn't hurt me
“i’m sorry please don’t hit me i won’t be embarrassed again”
i looked up at her and she was laying with me now and stroking my mane with one hoof.
“no pony is going to hit you i promise”
i blinking a few times and just stared at her for a few long minutes
“why everypony else would i’m a waste of space that’s why i’m a foster pony because not even my own mother wanted my”
she had a sad look on her face
“ oh you poor thing im so sorry that your life has been hard but i can assure you that applejack and rainbow dash will never hurt you ever they love you with all of their hearts”.
“now stay here ill be right back”
she said as she left the room. I stayed on my bed and waited for her to come back when she did my parents were right behind her both with smiles on their faces but tears in their eyes they both sat on the bed next to me and held me rainbow looked me in the eye and said
“i love you so much that when i go out on weather patrol i wear this around my neck”
she opened a locket with my picture in it then applejack turned me to face her and said
“ sugarcube i love ya so much i to have a locket with you picture in it we both wear it to always have you with us no matter were in equestria we may go”
they held on to me for a while longer and for the first time since i can remember i felt happy and safe.
“sugarcube you ready”
applejack asked when we went to leave
“as ready as ill ever be”
i said as she opened the door only to be stopped by the entrance of the princess of friendship
“twilight whats going on here” rainbow asked
“i was asked to come here on behalf of princess Celestia to ask you two to not to send regal to Canterlot”
“is this because of us twi” applejack asked
“not at all Fluttershy wrote the princess that she would rob regal the chance at a happy family life if he was rushed away to school in Canterlot only four mouths after being adopted and the princess agreed so for the next year he will be exempted form all classes to get to know his new family”.
Both rainbow and and applejack smiled and hugged twilight and me
“tell the princess thank you for us will you twi” rainbow asked still holding on to me
“of course i can and will the three of you care to join me and spike for dinner this evening”
rainbow smiled at princess twilight and gave a gratifying nod to answer the question,with a smile and hug to each of them she turned to me and smiled i bowed out of respect for the royal dignitary standing before me. Her smile fell for a second and she spoke to me as if i was her friend
“please regal don't bow i may be a princess but i’m still just like any other pony” she giggled as i got back to my hoofs
“then what do i do princess twilight” i asked softly.
She smiled once more and hugged me at first i didn't know how to react I've never been hugged so much in my life and this time it was by a princess so i hugged back a little and smiled as she let go of me
“that was the best hug i have ever relived thank you regal”
she winked at me as she left and applejack turned to me and rainbow dash as she shut the door
“looks like somepony caught the eye of the princess” she smiled
“i just hope its not a romantic interest”
rainbow said with a chuckle. I smiled and nodded
“sugarcube can you run to the train station for me and pick up my little sister apple bloom after she get of the train from Appaloosa please” she asked in a soft tone
“yes mom i can what she look like” i replied
“well shes your age she has a light yellow coat and a big pink bow in her mane”
she said as she open the door for me and put my saddle bags over me
“ok thanks mom ill she you guys later”
i said as i walked out the door
“we love you” they said in unison
“i love you too mom”
i turned to the way of town and started walking off of sweet apple acres i always love the smell of apples and of fresh air being from manehatten originally and being thrown around so much by the system i never really got to enjoy anything that normal ponies my age did but i hope this time will be different based on what i saw on rainbow’s desk yesterday since it seems like that my moms want to finalize the adoption Monday i thought about what that paper said and i think it was:
“ I Rainbow Dash and I Applejack Apple here by wish to finalize all adoption proceedings one regal mask and here by we wish it to be noticed by a court of equestrian law that we will be the primary care providers of said child and will here by and from this day forth be taken our new son out of the equestrian adoption system

I smiled inwardly as a got in to town and looked for the train station when i ran right into the flank of a big red stallion i looked up to see a dull green half of an apple cutie mark staring back at me i remembered from pictures my mom had that this was her older brother Big Macintosh but i’m sure no pony told him who i was so i said looking down
“i’m so sorry ran into you i wasn’t paying attention to where i was going” he turn to me and smiled
“well howdy there nephew i’m your uncle big mac it a pleasure to finely meet you this here is my wife Cheerilee”
he gestured over to the mare sitting on the ground next to him. I looked up confessed that he knew my and wasn’t mad that i just ran into him. He put his hoof around me and asked
"what bring you all the way into town this late into the day”
i explained to them that i was sent to go find apple bloom a the train station but didn’t know where it was “come with us dear we’ll be more then happy to show you around town aren’t we big mac”
he smile and gave a
“EEYUP”.
