While out searching for gems one day, Spike and Rarity come across the ruins of Lusitanopolis, an ancient pony city from the days before Celestia. When Spike learns of the rarest gem in the land, the fabled Eye of Equestria, is said to be kept there, he sets out to find it to impress Rarity. What follows though are layers upon layers of deceit as Spike becomes desperate to win Rarity's heart, and an ancient evil sealed away for generations coming back to haunt the land once more.
