Today was kind of slow at 'Lyra's books'. Jack was replacing some books that had been bought a little earlier that day. Jack was a light grey Pegasus with a dark black mane and would always get a lot of weird looks. Some would be from his odd name and others would be because of his unlikely fur colors. 'I don't get why everypony thinks my fur is weird. What about Pinkie Pie? She's completely pink and acts like a lunatic, but nopony ever says anything other then 'it's just Pinkie being Pinkie'! Whatever, if everypony wants to think I'm weird, then I won't stop them.'
"Hey, Jack! You ok there?" Lyra asked.
If you didn't already know, Lyra is a mint green unicorn with a large white streak through her hair. She's the owner of this bookstore and enjoys working here. Lyra is also an old friend of Jack and they're the only two that work here at the moment. The bookstore itself has only been open for a few weeks, but a lot of ponies have come to check it out.
"Huh, oh sorry about that. I started getting lost in my thoughts again." Jack replied while continuing to restock.
"Is it about your fur again? You just need to let that go. I mean come on, most ponies think I'm crazy because I believe that at some point humans existed." She said while walking over to him from behind the counter.
"And I believe you about that. But it's just that everypony acts like I'm either going to attack them or that I'm Discord in disguise." He replied to her with a sorrowful tone.
"Hey... you're not actually Discord are you? If you are, then can you give me some chocolate milk?"
All Jack could do was stare at her for a moment before face-hoofing hard enough to give him a bump on his forehead, "You have got to be kidding me..."
"Um, are you ok, do you need an ice pack or something? That looked like it hurt." Lyra said kinda worried while she stared at the bump.
"Actually, yes... I would very much like that." Jack replied before swaying a bit, "I think I need a nap..." He then fell to his side, instantly knocked out.
"...Um, jack? A-Are you ok?" Lyra said while staring at the unconscious pony in front of her.
"..."
"I'm... I'm just going to get that ice pack now... and get you home..." She said with confusion and worry.
After those words she closed the shop, which luckily it was almost closing time anyway, and used her horn to levitate Jack onto her back. She could tell this was going to be a long walk home, "Uh, why are you so heavy?!"
As Lyra arrived at her house, Bon-Bon, her roommate, came downstairs. When Bon-Bon saw Jack being carried by Lyra she instantly got worried and rushed over two them, "What happened to you guys?!"
Bon-Bon is a cream colored earth pony, and is the calmer and more responsible out of her and Lyra. She has a swirled pink and blue mane and she's a lot neater and tidier then Lyra.
"It's nothing, he just hit his head really hard... with his hoof... go get a doctor." Lyra said to her roommate while flopping Jack onto their couch, "I'll stay here, incase he wakes up."
"Alright, I'll be right back!"
Then after Bon-Bon left in a hurry, Lyra sat down in a way that most ponies would call 'weird' or 'odd', but to her it just feels right. She then turned to her unconscious friend, who has begun to snore, and smiled.
"What are we gonna do with you?"
After a few minutes of waiting for Bon-Bon and the doctor, they finally showed up.
"Him, on the couch. He hit his head and was knocked out." Bon-Bon said while pointing to Jack.
As the doctor walked up to Jack, he could already see the bump, "How did this happen?"
Lyra now spoke up, "He, uh, face-hoofed... really hard..."
"Why would he do something like that?" The doctor asked skeptically.
"I, um... asked if he was Discord, and then asked for some chocolate milk." She explained while blushing.
The doctor then face-hoofed alongside Bon-Bon. They didn't do it hard enough to get knocked out like Jack did, but it was still pretty hard.
"That would do it..." The doctor said, "Let me just check him and then see if he did any permanent damage."
Bon-Bon then pulled Lyra away from the doctor while he started, "Why are you always doing things like this?"
"I'm sorry, it's just the way my mind works. Sometimes I come up with great ideas and other times I just have a brain fart."
"It's ok, just... be more carful about what you say. Alright?" Bon-Bon said with a smile.
"Alright." Lyra replied with a smile of her own.
"Excuse me, sorry to interrupt, but it seems your friend is fine. He may have a few headaches from that bump on his head but otherwise he should be fine." The doctor said, happy that his patient is ok, "Here's a prescription that should help with the headaches."
"Thank you." Both Lyra and Bon-Bon say at the same time.
The doctor then left after seeing that his work was completed. Only a few minutes later, Jack finally wakes up, "...Why does my head feel like a piano fell on it?"
"Jack!!!" Lyra exclaims happily.
"Uh, please don't yell," He said groggily while holding his head, "Is this your house? Why am I at your house?" Jack thought for a short moment and before Lyra could explain, he yelled out, "Please don't tell me we did anything last night!!!"
"What? No, you hit your head," Lyra explained, "Besides, you're not my type."
"Oh yeah, I must have forgot," Jack said relieved before realizing what she said, "Hey! I'm not that bad am I?"
"Heh heh, no you're fine. I just said that you're not my type."
"Oh... hey, where's Bon-Bon at?" Jack pondered.
"She left just a bit ago to get a prescription that should help your head." Lyra happily replied.
"Wow, make sure you give her a kiss for me."
"What?! NO!!! Besides, I'm the one that dragged you all the way over here. So where's my kiss?"
"I thought you said I'm 'not your type'." Jack said while getting a devilish smile.
"Well that's- but- you- UGH!!!" She yelled while blushing a bit as Jack laughed up a storm, "Shut up!!!"
After getting a few more good laughs in, jack calmed down, "You know that I'm just messing with you. I didn't think you would react like that though."
Luckily for Lyra the front door opened to reveal Bon-Bon holding a bag. When she saw that Jack was awake she quickly walked to him and gave him one of the pills.
"You're lucky, the place I got those from were about to close," Bon-Bon said, "I'm glad to see that you're awake."
"It's nice to see you too, Bonny," Jack replied with the same devilish smile after taking the pill, which he could immediately feel the effects of, "Me and Lyra were just talking about kissing."
"Don't call me that!!!"
"Shut up!!!"
"HA HA HA HA HA, I'm sorry, but you two should see each others faces!"
The two mares that were now blushing profusely turned to look at each other and started to smile, before falling on the ground laughing.
"There, see? It's all in good fun," Jack said as the laughter died down, "But I think I should get some rest now. Laughing kinda hurts."
"Alright, but we're gonna get you back for that." Lyra replied.
"I'd like to see you try," Jack said with a smile and one last laugh, "Either way, goodnight guys."
"Goodnight." They say at the same time and then head up to bed to finally get some sleep.
