Part 1

It Begins...Again

"W-what the hay?" Jelly Cube looked around, he was in a field outside of a town. He looked up to see a pegasus pony clearing clouds above. He thought he recognized her, but he wasn't totally sure. In fact, he couldn't remember anything. It was like he had amnesia. The pegasus pony must have noticed him because she was descending from above to see what was going on.

The pegasus pony was a blue bodied mare with a rainbow mane and red eyes. Her cutie mark was a cloud with a multicoloured lightning bolt coming from it. When she touched down, she walked over to Jelly with a curious expression on her muzzle. “Are you okay?” she asked, “you look pretty confused there.”

“Yeah, I'm okay,” Jelly Cube replied. Jelly was a navy blue pegasus with a black mane and tail but in his tail, there was a red streak. He was a stallion and his eyes were light blue and his cutie mark was a jelly cube, “Who are you?” he asked.

“I'm Rainbow Dash, fastest flyer in Equestria,” she replied but she could tell Jelly wasn't buying it. “I'll prove it, but first, what is your name?

“Jelly Cube” he said.

“Sounds familiar, were you at the Fastest Fliers competition a few years back?” Rainbow Dash was referring to a competition where she won first place for saving the wonderbolts, the best flight acrobatics team in all of Equestria, from falling to their deaths in a display accident.

“I honestly don't remember. I think I lost my memory or something.”

“Well then I should bring you to Twilight. She'll be able to help.”

“Who?”

“You'll see. Just follow me” said Dash. Then, she started to trot away.

Princess Twilight Sparkle was in her library, also the Ponyville library, reading about magic, as per usual when Rainbow Dash and Jelly Cube walked in. The princess was a purple alicorn pony with a darker colour purple for her mane and tail with a pink streak in the centre. Her eyes were the same colour as her mane and her cutie mark was a star with five little stars around it.

“Hey Twilight” said Rainbow Dash, “whatcha up to?”

“The usual. Come on in!” She responded and put her book back on the shelf it came from. She then noticed that Rainbow Dash had somepony with her. A stallion too. “Who is this guy?”

“Oh, almost forgot. This is Jelly Cube.” She said as they walked in the door, “I found him when I was clearing the clouds on the outskirts of town. He was dazed and I think he has amnesia.”

“Hello Jelly, I'm Princess Twilight Sparkle but keep it simple, call me Twilight. Just Twilight.” she said. She didn't quite like the fact that now that she was a princess, they had to be treated differently. She was fine with just being Twilight.

“Yes pri- um I mean yes Twilight. It's nice to meet you” said Jelly. He didn't know how to really deal with royalty. Then again, he didn't know much right now.

“So the problem is amnesia eh?” asked Twilight, “I think I have a book about that here somewhere.”

“No rush.” responded Jelly, but he was thinking something different. He just wanted to get back to his normal life, whatever that was.

Twilight looked around for a few minutes until she found the book she was looking for. She took it down off the shelf and brought it over to a table. “Come over and sit down. We have a lot to talk about.”

Jelly and Dash came over and sat down. Twilight opened the book and flipped through for a few minutes before stopping at a section of the book about halfway through. She read a few lines and smiled. “I might be able to help. What do you remember?”

“I can't remember anything before Rainbow Dash came and found me. I don't know where i lived, who my family is, nothing!” Jelly Cube looked really confused. “Please help me!”

Twilight sighed. "I'll do what i can, but I don't know much about amnesia. It's not very common here. I'll ask Princess Celestia about it and see if she knows anything. In the mean time, you'll need a place to stay?”

“He can stay with me!” said Rainbow, a little too excitedly, “I have a guest room. Plus, he's a pegasus so he should not have any trouble getting up to my cloud home.”

“Okay then. I have no problem with it. How about you, Jelly?” Responded Twilight, as she looked at him.

“Sure. No problem on this end!” said Jelly.

“Then its settled,” responded Twilight, clearly happy that he would have a place to stay tonight.

The pair of three talked for what seemed like a few hours about Ponyville and the surrounding area, also about Spike, Twilight’s dragon assistant, who happened to be out all day for some reason. Finally, Rainbow Dash looked outside to find that it was dark outside.

“Well Twilight, we'd better go,” said Rainbow, “it's dark out.”

“Already?” asked Jelly.

“I'm afraid so.”

“Well then, you two better get on the move, it's not safe flying blind.” Twilight said after she took a peek out one of her windows, “it looks like it's gonna be a dark night tonight.”

“Yep. See you later Twilight!” Rainbow said as she and Jelly started off towards the door.

“Bye, guys! Don't worry Jelly, I'll try to find a cure for this. I promise.” Said Twilight as she opened the door with her magic.

“Thanks. Good night, Twilight.”

“Night. Have a safe flight home!”

Jelly walked out of the library to see Rainbow hovering next to the door waiting for him.

“Do you still remember how to fly?” She teased.

“Of course. How does one forget that?” He said with a laugh as the two ponies started off for Rainbow's cloud home. As they flew through Ponyville, Rainbow explained a bit more about the town and who lived where. She mentioned all of her friends houses, along with houses to avoid. Soon enough, they came across a big cloud. A really big cloud which looked almost like a mansion with rainbows flowing out of different places, completely defying the laws of physics.

“You live here I assume” said Jelly. He looked pretty impressed.

“Uh huh. Built it myself.” Rainbow said with pride. “It needs repairs but it's fine for now.”

“Impressive” said Jelly as they neared the front of the cloud home.

“Thanks,” Rainbow said as they landed, “the only thing that's missing is a balcony on the top floor.”

They continued talking as they entered the cloud home “all this and no balcony?”

“Yeah. I'll wake up thinking that I'll do it but i never get around to it. Too many things to do some days.” They stopped as rainbow unlocked the front door with a key hidden in some clouds.

“I could help you out with that if you want. Well, after we figure out what is going on with my head.”

The two of them laughed at that comment and Dash opened the door. Inside the cloud home literally everything was made of cloud. The shelves, walls, furniture, and the floor. What Jelly couldn't understand was why it looked like a normal house.

Rainbow must have sensed Jelly's confusion or something because she started to explain everything. “The floors, walls, furniture and all other things look like real wood and fabric because it is all a special type of cloud custom ordered by yours truly. It has the sturdiness of real things but it acts like normal cloud when ponies stand on it. For example, I can put books and other items on the floors and shelves, put an earth pony can't sit on them. You know what I mean?”

Jelly nodded his head in understanding.

“Pretty cool, huh?” asked Rainbow. She smiled.

“Oh yeah. So, where is my room?” Jelly asked.

Dash pointed to a staircase leading up, “second floor, down the hall, right to the end, and take a right. The bathroom is the first door on your left. The only door on the left actually.”

“Alright. Well I think I'm gonna call it a night. Been a busy day.” said Jelly as he started off towards the stairs.

“You haven't had anything to eat yet. Do you want some food first?” asked Dash as she trotted over to the kitchen.

Jelly hadn't even considered food. He should probably eat something though before he starved to death. “I guess I should probably eat something. Whaddya got?”

“Hay fries sound good?” Dash asked, “It's about the only thing I have right about now.”

“Sounds good with me.” he said as he noticed a shelf with plenty of trophies on it. “what are all these trophies for?” he asked Dash.

“Mostly flying competitions. The big one on the far right is for the fastest fliers competition where I thought I saw you.” Rainbow Dash put the hayfries in the deep fryer and came over to sit down.

“Fascinating.” Jelly said and sat down in one of the cloud chairs in Dash's living room and dash sat directly across from him but not before lighting some candles to brighten up the room.

The two pegasi talked about this and that for what only seemed like a few minutes before the timer on the deep fryer buzzed letting the two know that their dinner was done.

“I should probably go get that.” said Dash, “wouldn't want them to burn to a crisp.”

“Nope.” said Jelly. Before long, Rainbow returned with two plates of hayfries. One in her muzzle and the other in her hoof. She gave the one in her hoof to Jelly and she sat down with the other one.

“Dig in.” said Rainbow.

The two ate and talked at the same time, talking about general life. Rainbow told Jelly about a group called the R.E.F, or the Royal Equestrian Forces, they were basically the equestrian military. They had unknown power and could take up any enemy. There was apparently a secret base not too far from Ponyville but nopony was able to find it. They talked about it for a little bit longer and jelly was able to come up with some pretty good predictions on where it could be when Dash showed him a map of the area.

“You know, you sure know a lot about the military for someone that is trying to recover from complete memory loss.” Said Rainbow as she finished eating.

“I know. I seem to just have a thing for it I guess.” Jelly said as he brought his plate to the kitchen.

“You should think about enlisting if you can't find your previous job.” Dash suggested.

“Possibly but I want to see about my history first.” Jelly replied.

“That's probably best.” said Dash, “anyway, I'm off to bed. Feel free to stay up and do whatever but when you go up, put out the candles. I've had bad experiences not doing that.”

“No worries, I'm off too.” said Jelly. He put out the candles downstairs and walked to his bedroom. Dash had told him earlier that her bedroom was the entire third floor. 'Plenty of room for flight practice' was the reason.

Jelly's room was a decent size. It would suit his needs for the time being. He looked around. There was a dresser, medium size bed, closet, and all the other essentials. He closed the cloud door and crawled into bed. As he drifted off to sleep, he thought about today’s events but one question kept repeating in his head. Who was he... He would find out with the help of Twilight and Rainbow Dash. He would find a cure and get back to his normal life, but for now, he just wanted to sleep.
