New friend

Twilight yawned awake. She rubbed her cold hooves together. Looking around her new home smiling as she thought of the possibilities of what this place could look like. The walls were a dull brown, the color was similar to that of sand paper. The floor was bare as well, the houses contents were a lavender couch, a few blankets laid on the floor, and a few plates.

She slowly lifted herself off of the couch she had been sleeping on and laid her hooves softly upon the cold floor, careful not to make a sound . She trotted over to the door as she saw her two new friends sleeping.

The mares laid next to each other on the floor. One was a pastel yellow Pegasus with a rosy pink mane, and the other was a orange earth pony with a golden mane that was held together by a red rubber band.

The Pegasus' wing draped on the earth pony. A ray of sunlight shone on the dark home and made the earth ponies mane gleamed gently. Twilight stared at the two ponies blushing at their beauty.

The poor ponies had slept on a blanket laid on the floor that cushioned them from the cold. Another blanket was laid upon them. Twilight pouted, they kept persisting for her to sleep on the couch.

They were such kind mares.

She put on her socks and hearths warming hat.

It was winter after all.

She made a list in her head if what to get. She would buy presents, cocoa, blankets, and decorations. She would also check out the library on the way to the store.

The mares thought she would like to check it out.

She carefully opened the door and trotted out, snowflakes fell softly upon her nose. She giggled in delight. She spun around, admiring her surroundings. Twilight galloped through the city squealing in delight as she saw the town. She had never seen a town before!

"How wonderful~!"

The mare stroked the snow off a miniature bush.

She watched as every pony laughed and played in the winter wonderland.

Some sneezed and some flapped their wings in joy,

it was so wonderful to her.

A pink earth pony hopped over to her covered in winter gear and a light blue satchel with stickers plastered all over it.

Her mane was a slightly darker shade of pink than her coat, and her eyes were two pools of light blue.

The mare seemed so happy to see her, twilight couldn't help but smile as well.

"Twily! Wow! You seem so happy! I thought you'd be inside reading a book!"

The pink pony giggled and took a small box out of her satchel and handed it to the confused lavender mare.

The box was white and had a velvet colored ribbon tied into a bow.

The pink mare blushed as twilight smiled in a mix of happiness and confusion. She had no clue as to whom the mare was.

Her friends had told her they had their own twilight sparkle, theirs was an odd twilight.

Her coats color was a bit drained of color, but able to show the slightest trace of lavender. Her mane was a bit messy, and her eyes carried bags and rings. Their twilight kept herself from the world, doing disturbing research that nopony even dared to imagine she would read.

Twilight looked back at the pink mare.

The pony seemed to make her feel happy.

Twilight smiled warmly at the mare

"Thank you..." Twilight looked at the satchel, there was the name of the mare stitched it a wonderful pink such as her coat.

"Pinkie pie".

The pink mare blushed once again, her smile growing a bit more.

"You're welcome twily! Oh my gosh! I'm so happy you're outside!! Do you wanna get some breakfast??"

The mare bounced around twilight surprisingly not slipping on the ground. Twilight thought about the last time she ate anything since she got here.

Twilight happily nodded her head in agreement causing pinkie to let out a small squeal in joy.

The two ponies trotted over to a small building that was a block away.

Pinkie pie was both happy and dumbfounded, normally twilight would be scolding her for moving around so much or locked up in her basement doing celestia knows what.

She trusted twilight would come out on her own.

She liked this side of twilight. She seemed so full of life.

Pinkie missed twilight's adorable smile,

it seemed as though it lit up the whole town as sunlight shown softly upon every pony that day.

Pinkie pie was growing a bit tired of blushing, but she couldn't help it.

Twilight looked up at the buildings, the scent of gingerbread and cinnamon was intoxicating.

The building was painted in a pine tree green, the door was a deep shade of red a reef with red bows covering it. There was a small bell up on the door to alert workers when some pony comes in.

There was a large window next to the door that you could see the chefs and bakers at work.

They all had a warm smile on their faces as they made dough or cooked.

Twilight observed the room they worked in.

She loved all these sights and scents.

She loved the holidays, every pony looked so happy.

It was spectacular.

Pinkie pie giggled as she watched twilight getting lost in her thoughts, she found it adorable.

"Wanna go inside twily?"

Pinkie couldn't help but laugh as twilight jumped realizing what was going on.

"W-wha? Oh yeah...heh sorry"

twilight blushed and smiled shyly.

As soon twilight opened the door her nose was ambushed by thousands of scents all at once.

The unicorn jumped again in surprise.

"Pinkie! What is that smell?!"

Twilight gasped as she saw even more food than she saw through the window.

Twilight's head looked in every direction.

Pinkie smiled, twilight was so cute!

she rubbed her cheek on twilight's so that she wouldn't get lost in her thoughts again.

"Aw twily! I knew you would like this place~!"

They were soon welcomed by a warm hello of their waiter.

Twilight's love for this place grew more and more by the second.

This pink pony couldn't help but make her smile as she told her jokes when walking to the table.

Twilight made herself comfortable in the booth, she once again observed her surroundings.

The walls were painted pastel purple and the floors were covered in a velvet rug. Christmas decorations hung all around the walls along with pictures in black and white of the owners and their family.

She looked at pinkie pie and smiled. She liked the pink mares presence.

Pinkie pie sat across from her with the same lovely smile on.

"What do you wanna get?"  The pink mare asked twilight as she looked down at the menu.

Twilight opened her menu, the browsed through the cakes, pies, crepes, and other treats.

She licked her lips as she saw all the pictures.

"Wow......."

Twilight looked back up at her friend who was to her surprise looking up at her intently.

Twilight watched pinkies diamond like eyes stare at her own.

They were gorgeous.

Pinkie realized twilight noticed she was staring back and her face grew red.

"U-um I'm gonna get the strawberry crepes with a cinnamon bun."

Pinkie spat out.

Her cute smile turned to a flustered grin.

Twilight realized she hadn't chosen.

She saw something that she had read about before.

"I will have the....pan...cakes...."

The words rolled off of twilight's tongue smoothly.

She remembered it came from a European part of equestria, supposedly a wonderful delicacy.

She had never had it before.

She felt a bit adventurous and proudly smiled at pinkie.

Pinkie had been incoherently babbling off and trying to keep her cool.

Twilight could only assume it was something on how she wasn't staring.

Twilight too found the mare adorable.

Pinkie let out a sigh as she smiled back and told the waitress their order,

within a few minutes their meal had come.

Twilight lifted up the pancake using her magic, observing it.

Pinkie giggled at the lavender mares actions. "You can be such a goof.." Pinkie said under her breath.

Twilight then sunk her teeth into the pancake and swallowed.

Her eyes lit up and she let out a small gasp.

She soon devoured each pan cake one by one.

She thought it was the most delicious thing by far she had ever tasted.

Pinkie was laughing one again.

The two were soon then telling jokes and talking about other things.

The duo after their meal had left the bakery and trotted back into the town square.

Pinkie now was trailing a bit behind.

Twilight was also now the pony to be bouncing,

since she absolutely adored this place.

Pinkies face was now for the thousandth time growing red.

Why couldn't she stop?...

Pinkie looked down at twilight's hoof.

She wanted to hold it so much.

She looked at twilight's cold smiling lips.

She wanted to kiss them so much.

She looked at every part of twilight

and she wanted to hold her in the hooves and smooch her till forever.

Twilight was so cute and she just wanted to snuggle her by a fire or something romantic like that.

Pinkie couldn't deny her feelings for the unicorn.

Pinkie slowly and carefully lifted her hoof near twilight's.

Pinkie felt like she was defusing a bomb.

She inch by inch moved her hoof closer and grabbed twilight's.

Pinkie clenched her eyes shut waiting for twilight to yell, but nothing like that happened.

Instead twilight blushed slightly and nuzzled pinkie.

Pinkie pie felt her heart stop for a moment and smiled back as she let out a sigh. No explosion.

They decided to go run the errands twilight had been meaning to run.

The two bought socks, blankets, cocoa, and gifts for the rest of the day.

As it grew close to noon pinkie pie looked around desperately.

She thought of a way that her wonderful day wouldn't end, or at least something else amazing would happen.

As pinkie pie gave up twilight let out a gasp.

Twilight looked upwards and saw a mistletoe, she looked back at pinkie with a completely red face.

Pinkie thanked celestia for what must have been a thousand times.

Pinkie looked back at twilight laughing nervously.

'Why am I feeling like this?' Pinkie questioned herself.

The looked at the lavender unicorn.

She knew this pony, this pony is her best friend. She had many best friends.

She had never been this way around any of her other friends...

"We don't have to...."

Pinkie smiled nervously

"that's if you're not okay with it

and if you aren't then that's okay,

not that I don't want to!

B-but you know I'm fine with you not wanting to,

but don't-"

pinkie was interrupted by twilight's hoof place upon her lips.

"Pinkie....."

Twilight stared into the pink mares diamond eyes and let out a sigh

"I wouldn't find it odd if we were to kiss, I mean.... It is I suppose a tradition.

It's best not to break tradition.

I just hope our lips don't get stuck....."

Twilight let out a nervous giggle.

Twilight's heart began to beat like a drum,

it was all she could hear.

She clenched her eyes shut and placed her lips on pinkies.

Pinkies eyes lit up,

her heart was close to bursting leaving her frozen in shock.

Twilight paused and backed up seeing what state the mare was in.

Twilight was still blushing hard and sighed.

"And you say I'm the goof" she chuckled "silly mare"

She looked at the back of the frozen mares satchel and found her address.

She struggled, but made it at the pink ponies home with the pinkie pie on her back.

The streets were damp and icy cold.

Every pony was trotting inside to stay warm.

She saw there was no pony home or in the bakery for that matter

so she trotted upstairs finding pinkies room.

She tucked pinkie into her bed,

she couldn't help but laugh as the mare was still in a state of shock

.

"Pinkie?..." Twilight whispered to the pink mare.

"Wh....twilight?? Where are we?... Why am I in my bed??"

Pinkie wanted to look around but was captivated by the lavender mares eyes.

They were so alluring.

They stared back to her own clear blue eyes, her eyes gleamed against the soft light of of the moon.

"I carried you here, don't worry I'll go. My roommates will get worried..."

Twilight smiled and kissed pinkies forehead,

pinkie tried her hardest not to blush.

"Twilight...please..." Pinkie struggled trying to say her request "stay...please"

Twilight grinned and got under the covers,

even though she knew applejack and fluttershy were going to be furious,

she could never say no to that face.

She stared at the roof of the room. Twilight thought of the day she had.

Instead of thinking of the favors of the food

Or the snow, or even the ponies having fun,

She thought of pinkie pie.

She thought of pinkies adorable hooves,

Her sweet smile,

She mane blowing softly against the breeze,

She thought of a million things about pinkie,

her mind surrendered as pinkie took control of her thoughts.

Twilight brought a pillow over to her snout.

She inhaled and caught the sweet smell of the mare.

"Pinkie..." Twilight softly kissed the pillow.

Twilight froze up, she had an odd sensation as though some one was staring at her.

She slowly turned her head with caution to the pink pony.

The two mares eyes met.

Twilight was to frightened to run or hide.

They laid there in silence that seemed to last for hours.

Pinkie moved her hoof over to Twilight's and held it.

A few tears streamed down twilight's cheeks,

she now understood was love at first sight was.

It seemed stupid and down right crazy, but she loved this pony.

It felt right.

"I'm sorry, I've seem to have fallen in love with you..."

Twilight smiled weakly.

Pinkie smiled warmly and wrapped her other hoof around twilight's neck.

Twilight leaned in and kissed her softly.

The two embraced each other in the stillness of the night.

This time the silence was not awkward, it was a tranquil one.

They broke the silence by exchanging three simple words that changed their lives forever.

"I love you."
