Chapter 2

"Master we have found the one you seek"

"Good, good, keep an eye on him for he will be of great use to us"

"And master what shall we do with the prisoner?"

"oh yes...the prisoner...I almost forgot about her...send her to the dogs..."

IceQuill was playing in his room by himself when he heard his mother call for him, he thought it must be dinner time as he walked down the cloud stairs. "IceQuill dear,"

his mother said with a bit of agitation in her voice, "why did you go into Ponyville?!". "I-I heard s-something c-calling out to m-me m-mom," IceQuill said happily, "it was calling my name to come find it", "Find what exactly?" she questioned him, "I-I'm n-not sure m-mom, I c-couldn't f-find it". His mother seemed rather agitated by this as she walked back into the kitchen, IceQuill felt guilty and walked backed up to his room, but it wasn't agitating his mother that made him feel guilty, it was that he lied that triggered this emotion to stir inside him. He had found what was calling him, for when he bumped into a dark green stallion he felt like he had found something, he felt as if he had found something that would change his life.

IceQuill pulled out his bag from under his bag and went through its components. He grabbed his small quill which he had crafted formed from his own wing feather, and a small note book, he then he went to work. This was his talent, of which would never be seen in any other mare or colt, he started to write, and as he wrote his entire essence was in the very writing, and  every single letter he wrote seemed to glow as if spectra was flowing through it. No pony would ever has his same love and passion for writting and this is how young IceQuill found his talent, his cutiemark was a quill writing upon a frozen scroll. IceQuill loved writing more then anything else, even more then the winter's snow, but IceQuill always felt that there was more then just this talent. The small pegasus kept a journal, this journal was filled with stories, poems, and drawings of all kind. IceQuill never let this journal out of his sight for it was easily one of his most valuable possessions.

"Master, the Princesses have sent out word to warn ponies of us. What should we do?"

"Hmm....so dear Celestia is trying to stop me....watch her carfully"

IceQuill walked to the school building in Ponyville. He walked into the building and took his seat in the back of the class and looked around at all his classmates. One of them stood out in particular to him, another young pegasi with a red coat and a black mane. His name was Dez Vochoism, he was one of IceQuill's only friends, they had talked to eachother about all kinds of topics. One topic interested Dez more than anything else, becoming a royal guard. He always wanted to protect other's and stop evil. Little did IceQuill know that they would later cross paths at deadly risk.

IceQuill wasn't the best flier, and when the day came to take his flight test, he failed. The instructors said that he couldn't preform well enough and that he is a disgrace  to all pegasi. Upon hearing this IceQuill's parents disowned the young pegasus, orphaning him and sending him out from Cloudsdale to live in Ponyville. IceQuill didn't show any kind of sadness throughout his days, but deep down he felt useless. All that the young pegasus had left was a saddlebag, his journal, an inkwell, and a cowl. IceQuill showed up to school every day acting as though nothing had happened, and everypony believed it, they saw nothing wrong with the grey pegasus in the back of the class drawing a house made out of clouds in his journal.

IceQuill sat at his desk writing as usual when the teacher came into the classroom and announced cheerfully "Class today we are going on a field trip," she said happily, "to the Crystal Empire!" IceQuill looked up and upon hearing this he was filled with joy, he had always wanted to see the crystal empire. They all walked to the train and boarded the train, most of the other fillies were laughing and talking, but the small grey pegasus was sitting in his seat watching the land soar past him. When they reached the empire they all walked around looks at shops and buildings, the teacher called all of her students to come gather in the center of the empire, at the crystal heart. They all sat around it as the teacher explained the history of the Crystal Empire. IceQuill wasn't paying attention to her, he was focused on the glowing crystal heart. After talking the teacher ordered all of the fillies to come back to the train, IceQuill sighed and walked back to the train. The teacher was about to count all of the fillies but someone asked to go to the bathroom, so she took them to the bathroom, IceQuill saw his chance and slipped away from the class as they started boarding the train. IceQuill went back to the crystal heart and sat in front of it, his eyes glowed to it. The train started its journey back to Ponyville, the teacher called for a role call of everyone, when she called out for young IceQuill Degrees, there was no answer.

The young grey pegasus was drawing the crystal heart in his journal, completely  ignoring the world around him. What he didn't see was the Princess Cadance was sitting right behind him, watching him draw, she tapped his shoulder quitely and when he turned around he was suprised to see the princess behind him. "whats your name little filly?" she asked politely, "M-my name i-is I-IceQuill" he stuttered, "Thats a beautiful drawing you have," she said, "why don't you come up to the castle and we can talk okay?" "Y-yes p-princess!". After the princess had left IceQuill just sat in front of crystal heart, his curiosity growed at the glowing gem. The young pegasus reached his hoof out at the crystal heart, and when he touched it and explosion of power erupted from the heart, sending the filly flying into a pillar from the castle.

When he woke up he felt different, he felt like something changed, little did he know that his red mane now had a blue outline, and he eyes had changed from grey to a light blue almost as if they were ice. The filly walked back to the train stop as the train pulled in and his teacher ran out and hugged him, saying how worried she got and asking if he was okay. She didn't mention the physical changes that had happen to him as they went back to Ponyville.

IceQuill wasn't stuttering when he spoke anymore, his voice became smooth, no longer quivering. He couldn't explain what had happened even if he tried, but he knew something big had happened.
