It was bright sunny day in Ponyville where nothing was happening. Which was huge relief for its disaster prone residents because that means their insurance premiums weren't being driven up by some random disaster befalling their little hamlet.
But I digress, it was a wonderful sunny day in Ponyville where a certain fashionable Element of Generosity was trotting along and approaching a large crystal tree palace which was the home of the world famous Princess of Friendship and her much less well known baby dragon.
The door guards nodded and opened the door for her. She gave a polite nod in thanks and made her way inside. She made her way down the main corridor and made a right into adjoining hallway. She then continued down the hallway, checking the doors for the room she was looking for, until she came to a intersection and made a left. She then continued down the hallway, checking the doors for the room she was looking for, until she came to a intersection and made a right. She then continued down the hallway, checking the doors for the room she was looking for, until she came to a intersection and made a left. She then....realized she had no idea where she was.
Rarity stops and pulls out the message she got from Spike,
Dear My Sweetest Rarity,
I have something for you at the crystal palace you just gotta see. It's something that you can use for your dresses. Please come and meet me
at the castle.
Lov Sincerely,
Spike
Rarity sighed. "Well I do hope that whatever this this thing I 'just gotta see' is worth all it because all this walking is making me tired" Rarity complained while putting her hoof to her head posing dramatically.
"I mean really!" Rarity continued whining, "Why did he not include a map so I could at least find him in this ridiculous maze?"
She then noticed that hoof she had put to her head had the letter in it. She then proceeded to noticed the highly detailed map of the palace that was on the back of the letter along with a star next to the room Spike said he would be waiting for her in with the message,
Oh here's a map Rarity, It's real easy to get lost
Rarity suppressed a slight blush while chuckling nervously, "Well...I can't be perfect all time. aha-ha-ha...ha".
With the help of map she then made it to the door of the room that was her destination. She then proceed to knock and call out, "Hello?...Spikey-Wikey?". A few seconds later she heard footsteps fast approaching the door which then opened to reveal an extremely ecstatic face belonging to a purple and green scaled baby dragon.
"Rarity! you came! " Spike happily exclaimed while hugging Rarity.
Rarity quickly returned the hug, "Why of course my little Spike-Wikey, your message was most piqued my interest and I came as quick as I could. Also seeing my favorite dragon never fails to lift my spirits."
Spike started to blush but then quickly remembered why he called her here, "Oh snap, Rarity come over by the sink! I got something to show you!"
Confused when Spike said sink, Rarity finally noticed that they where in a cosy little kitchen.
"My what a cosy little kitchen" Rarity repeating what I just said while walking to the sink. "Is this the main kitchen?"
"No, just one of the smaller kitchens." Spike answered. "I thing this palace has at least 5 or so...but anyway check this out!"
Rarity saw Spike pull out of he sink a round bluish blob. It glowed with a pretty blue light and was malleable in the dragon's hands.
"What is that?" asked Rarity giving the blob a quizzical look.
"Twilight accidently made it when she was experimenting on the crystals that form this place" said Spike who then added "...after a few set backs."
Rarity nodded while thinking 'So THAT'S was the cause of that explosion 2 days ago'.
Spike continued, "I call them Liquid Gems. These babies can be molded in any shape and when treated to high heat they take on that shape."
Spike then proceeded to, quite skillfully, make a rose out of blob and then subject it to his green dragon fire. After the flames went out all that remained was a beautiful blue crystal rose that shined like a star.
Rarity's jaw hit the floor. "Spike! this...this is amazing!! I have never seen anything like this!!! Why the possibilites are endless!! I'll be able to custom make gems for my more intricate designs and bring my dress to life!! Oh Spikey-Wikey, you're wonderful!" Rarity then proceeded to pick up Spike and give him a nice big kiss on both cheeks.
After Spike's brain booted back up from the massive sensory overload, he blushed and said "Well, anything for you, Lady Rarit-oh I just remembered, there's something else you need to know."
"In case you make a mistake with the design, you change it back by running it under water."
Spike tapped the faucet which released a stream of cold water that fell on the rose which then proceeded to turn back into a rose shaped blob.
"But if you like the design you just need to add a stronger heat for a short while." Spike finished by molding the blob into a shape like Rarity's cutie mark and proceeded to heat it with his fire.
"Simply Marvelous, my little Spikey-Wikey." Rarity complimented. "Your discovery will elevate me to new heights. I must find way to properly thank you"
"Like I said, anyth-...huh?" Spike was tapping on the faucet but no water was coming out. "Not agaaain."
"What's wrong Spike?" Rarity asked.
"It's these stupid new tap faucets Twilight got." Spike was hitting the the faucet with increasing force. "They say you only need to tap the thing once to turn it on and off but more often then naught I have to hit the stupid thing so hard that sometimes it breaks and-" Spike gave the faucet one more good hit which breaks the faucet.....releasing a torrential stream of water....that hits Rarity.
"AHHHHHHBLRG....SPIKEBBLLRGHH....SHURRGGT!!!" Rarity tried to, unsuccessfully, protect herself from the water torrent and getting soaking wet
"Hold On!! I am working on it!" Spike went under the sink and shut the water off. He then came back out and quickly grabbed a bunch large dish towels for Rarity and to dry the floor.
Rarity quickly took the towels and dried herself off reverting back to her fabulous self. "I thank you, Spike and despite this setback I think your Liquid Gems would be wonderful for my designs." She then noticed the clock on the wall "Oh my look at the time, I have to return back to the shop if want finish that dress order on time. Come by the shop tomorrow with those gems and will see what we can create. I'll see you then, my Spikey-Wikey"
"Okay, Bye Rarity" Spike replied while drying the floor.
After closing the door, Rarity exits the castle and heads towards her home. But before she opens the door she turns towards the reader with smile "I truly do hope you're not feeling cheated because, like the title said, I did, in fact, get wet."
She turns around and opens the door. "Get your mind out of the gutter already you hooligans, my Spikey-Wikey still has a couple of years until he's an proper ADULT dragon."
She steps inside, "But fret not, Twilight used her magic to show me very accurate pictures of what Spike well look like then and so rest assure..."
She turns around towards the reader with bedroom eyes and sly smile on her face "He'll get me PLENTY wet then."
She closes the door .
