Princess Celestia galloped over a log as she gained speed. She was heavily panting. A gust of wind blew by and she knew it. Celestia spread her wings and the wind carried her slightly off the ground. She easily glided over a small mud pile. The forest was a pretty rough terrain to run on, but she could handle it. She glanced behind her to see her two siblings catching up. Celestia could see it! A red ribbon carefully tied around two grand trees. The eldest princess immediately gained her speed and ran through the ribbon, tearing it in two.

"YES!" Celestia flew into the air with glee. By the time she got back down from her impromptu victory dance, Luna and Astria were in front of her. They were both glaring, but the smiles on their faces told her that they were having fun even if they lost.

"You're the one who said no wings!" Luna complained.

"I didn't use my wings. I simply expanded them, Luna," Celestia replied matter-of-factly.

"Well you left the ground! We kept our wings tucked the whole time!" Astria shouted at her older sister. She glared harder for a moment, but soon all of them collapsed on the ground giggling.

"Alright, we can share the title of Best Princesses of Equestria," Celestia proclaimed. The three sister hoof bumped and continued laughing. They were about to return to the castle when a kite landed suddenly on a branch and tore a big hole in it. The kite was purple-ish blue and had a gorgeous picture of a rose in the middle. It was decorated with three gems. One was dark blue, the other was a radiant purple, and the last was pale yellow. They hung on each side of the kite with the purple one attached to the top.

"Its so pretty!" Luna exclaimed. "Can we keep it?" She ran over to the kite and picked it up carefully. The rip was quite wide, but nothing some magic can't fix. Celestia and Astria trotted over and gathered around it.

"I don't know Luna. We don't know who lost this!" Astria nervously warned her older sister. They all agreed that the kite was beautiful but were unsure about what to do with it. Suddenly, a stallion appeared. He was light brown and grinning.

"Hello princesses! I see you've found my kite!" he smiled.

"Sorry it ripped! I promise we definitely found it like this!" Astria took the kite from Luna and handed it over to the stallion. Celestia saw that the purple gem had somehow become unattached to the kite and was laying in the grass.

"Wait!" Celestia grabbed the gem and handed it to the stranger as well. "Sorry about your kite again sir. It was probably very expensive," she apologized.

"Its alright foals. This can easily be replaced. It was junk anyway. Besides, they're not as expensive as you princesses! Your ransom would probably be a fortune!" The stallion suddenly grabbed Celestia and Astria and began to drag them away.

"Hey! Let us go!"

"Help!!!!!!!"

Both sisters tried their best to use their weak magic to fight, but the stallion was strong and muffled both of their horns. Celestia's power was stronger, so the stallion grabbed her by the wings instead. None of them could fight the stallion off.

Luna ran towards them. "Let my sisters go!" She tried to drag them back but the stallion simply kicked her away. She was much to small to fight him by herself and they were too far away from anypony to let them know trouble was there. Luna felt her mane and tail become misty. Her horn glowed uneasily. " I said, let them GO!" A large blast of magic blasted into a tree as it fell on the stallion. Astria and Celestia ran away just in time as the stallion lay motionless under the tree.

"You're a monster! Your everypony's worst nightmare!" The stallion cried before he went still again.

"What?" Luna returned to normal and looked up on her horn. She looked worriedly back at the fallen tree. Before she could think of any explanation, Celestia and Astria hugged her. She stumbled back, still looking very terrified.

"You saved us!" Celestia smiled. "That was awesome!"

"But....but he called me a monster, a nightmare!" Luna asked uneasily. Nothing like that ever happened before. She looked at her sisters. They were somehow still smiling thankfully at her. She was nervous. She couldn't control this amount of magic! What if she hurt someone? What if she hurt her family?

"Luna, he tried to take us away. He's the real monster. But what was that power from your horn? I never saw anything like it!" Celestia questioned. She was glad to be safe, but was curious as well.

"Who cares? We're all safe thanks to you!" Astria hugged her sister again and beamed. "Don't worry about your magic. We can help you control it!" Astria walked over to the pretty kite and ripped off the three gems. "One for each of us," she proudly announced.

Celestia took them and used her magic to embed them into their tiaras. "Don't worry. This won't get out Luna. It'll be our little secret. And as long as we wear these gems,  we will always be looking out for eachother," The pony grinned as she folded her wings over her two sisters and walked with them back to the castle.
