A navy blue alicorn stallion trotted up to the giant doors embeded with the stars and moon, a silver tray in tow. After knocking with his hoof, he called "Princess Luna, your highness! Art thou there?" He waited a while before repeating. "Luna, your highness! Art thou there?" This time he received a response.

"Yes, Cosmos, I am here. Come hither." was the soft call he received.  The door creaked open slowly, and Cosmos walked inside.

"I hath brought thy lunch."

An alicorn of the same coat as Cosmos lay on a plush bed, focusing her slightly bloodshot aquamarine eyes on him. "Ah. Prithee, what concoction hath the cook come up with now?" she asked, amusement evident in her voice.

Cosmos smiled. "A salad of the finest flowers," Under his breath he added "as usual..."

Luna snorted and sat up, making her mane that shone and sparkled like the night sky visible.  Yet another resemblance- the mane. Though, oddly, her mane was only half as bright as Cosmos'.

Cosmos set the tray down on a table and trotted up to the bedside. "Luna, sister. What ails you?"

She sighed, and looked at her brother, blue orbs meeting silver. "The ponies," she started, before motioning for him to sit next to her on the bed.

Once he had taken his place beside her, she continued. "The ponies, why do they frolic, and play in sister's 'glorious day'," she scoffed, making no effort to conceal her scorn, "and sleep in my glorious night?" A quiet wail escaped her as she buried her face into Cosmos' neck.

Cosmos' sighed in pity and nuzzled his sister. "Careful Luna," he teased, "crocodile tears mean crocodile wrinkles."

Luna removed her muzzle and playfully glared at him. "Besides, I am in the same boat as thee. Remember, Princess of the Moon, that I control the stars." She wailed again, this time louder.

"Is that supposed to help? Am I supposed to be glad that I am taking all the credit, however little there is, when it is a job done by two?"

Cosmos sighed. "Luna, please. I hath no desire for the spotlight, and thou knows't perfectly well. Besides, dearest sister, even if I wanted it to be so, it is forbidden by tradition. I was born to be thy assistant."

Luna started to protest,"But--!"

"Hush, Luna. It is tradition. Nopony can fight against tradition." Cosmos smiled down at her sadly.

"Nopony..." Luna snuggled into her brother's coat a little more, savoring the rare intimacy.

"Nopony at all..."
