The Beginning of the End

The wind buffeted Rainbow’s back, her hair flowing with it. She stood on her mountain perch watching the fields below. So quiet, so peaceful, it was truly beautiful. The grand peaks, the lush green hills and the soft glow of the sun as it rose above the distant horizon only to be dulled by the gray expanse of cloud that blanketed the sky. As Rainbow gazed up at the towering citadel overlooking the land she knew, she knew it wouldn't be long until the land was engulfed in darkness as the Ing fought the Equestrians, as blood stained the ground and screams echoed through the air, a storm was coming. Luna warned them, but they didn't listen. Now the very foundation of all that the Equestrians know will be strained and tested like never before. The Apocalypse is coming, and these next few days are the calm before the storm.

"We never did it for the glory, or the fame, hell we didn't even do it for the nation. We did it for each other. Each of our friends. At first I didn't believe it, thinking what this world had to offer was only a sham, and only fantasy. I was so foolish then. But now I know. Through the time I've spent here, through my experiences...through my friends. I now understand that it is possible, that it's real and will always be so long as we have each other."

The Ing and their leaders had come not even a year ago, bringing nothing but death, destruction, and darkness. So much screaming, so much blood and hatred. Why had they come here? A grudge? Domination? Or insanity?

Hot ash and wind blow over scorched bones and charred earth. Ruins and debris litter the ground. Creatures of darkness hide in shadow and strike in the night, never missing their target. Towns and cities burn as he watches from his throne atop a mountain of fire and ice.

Why didn't we listen to her? Her visions were true, and now? We're all going to die.

Two hours earlier...

"They can hit us, shoot us, and send us to hell but we will never truly fall, we will never truly die. Some say 'united we stand and divided we fall', but that's not true for us. For us? United we stand and divided we conquer!" The entire equestrian army cheered as Rainbow Dash finished her speech. She was surprised, actually, to see the sheer amount of soldiers that had came here to hear her speech.
