Ponyville, Equestria
Vinyl was having a hard time containing her excitement as she raced home. She had spent almost all day searching for a book on musical inspiration in the newly-opened Royal Library in Ponyville. When she finally found what she was looking for, she nearly "squee'd" from pure joy. She had to admit though, she was pretty peeved that she had spent so long in the vast, almost maze-like library. Princess Twilight had insisted that it be open to the public until a new library could be built after the destruction of the original town library. Vinyl still couldn't get over how such amazing lasers could be produced and yet not a single wub was heard.
When she finally arrived at her home, Vinyl decided to inform her roommate/fellow DJ, Neon Lights of her discoveries. She opened the door and saw obvious signs of a party. Cider spilled on the floor, graffiti that read "Dropsie4Lyfe", and Princess Celestia's pet phoenix, Philomena, blasting lasers from her eyes and making robotic cries of LOLOLOL. Yep, just another one of Neon's parties She thought as she went upstairs to search for her roomate. One thing she couldn't understand though is why Neon would throw a party in the middle of the day.

Upon hearing it, she began to have vague memories of ecstasy and some red guy. Vinyl entered to find Neon on his bed with an ice pack covering his face. "Neon" Vinyl said loudly "Get up, I found this awesome book and there's a spell in here that's apparently going to give us more inspiration for songs"
"Okay, Okay! Ahhh!" Said Neon as he gritted his teeth. "Just let me get something for this headache." As Neon got up, he seemed perfectly capable until he promptly fell over 2 seconds later and decided to inch-worm his way into the hallway and down the stairs. Vinyl laughed "HA! Since when have you been so willing to DO something while drunk?"
  About 10 Minutes Later.......
"Sweet Celestia, my head feels like it was tag teamed by two giant fuckbots" said Neon with a groan. "Whatever you wanted to show me better be worth it." Vinyl grinned excitedly as she displayed the book she had brought from the library. "I was looking through The Royal Library and found this! It has all kinds of spells for use in music production!" she squee'd as Neon stared at her blankly. "'Magical Music Maker's Manual: The Unicorn's Guide to Producing Music with Magic.'" he squinted as he noticed more text hastily scribbled below the title. "'Warning: Spells Can Occasionally Create Portals To Tartarus.' Well THAT sounds like fun." He said sarcastically
"Come on Dude! It'll be fun!" said Vinyl pleadingly "I even found this one that allows us to observe musicians in other dimensions for inspiration!" she said as she flipped through the book before stopping about halfway through and tapping the page with her hoof. "Well......" said Neon curiously as he read the text where Vinyl had indicated. "It seems like a pretty cool concept, but wouldn't you need to be extremely talented at magic to preform a spell this complex?"
