There I Lay

All I did was stare.

She, of her mystic blue eyes. Those that looked down at me with wonder. She, of her beautiful blue coat. Her coat that shined magnificently in the luminous moonlight. Yes, 'twas young Luna. The royal keeper of the moon. With her small but neat hooves, she took a step toward me. Powerless I was, for I couldn't move. Seeing my distress, Luna softened her eyes to gaze at me.

"Do not fear."

I moved my weak, pained hooves to try and stand up. But they collapsed back into the puddle, as if I hadn't been trying at all. I felt her strong, but worried, gaze at me. My eyes grew back down.

"Princess Luna. Ruler of the night." My hooves lay forward, as if to give a small bow. "What brings you here? Should you not be in the castle, with your mother and father? And your dear sister, Princess Celestia?"

With a somewhat sad look on her face, she looked to the ground as I had done. "Let us never mind..." Her sad eyes once again were filled with the vast blue beauty. "What of you here, in this bedraggled position?"

"I- My- I..." My words stumbled upon each other. Slowly, I stood up. My damaged hooves still pained but not as much now. The wind flapped in my face. "Pony troops..."

Princess Luna immediately understood. "Ah..."

She fell into a trot, beckoning me to follow her. Gloriously, she took pride of herself, her little crown high in the air. We stopped at my now ruined home. Wildly, my books flew out. My aura one back, heaving at the weight of it. Dropping it down, almost throwing it, I turned to a page of a spell. It read "How to Defend a Pony". Tears gathered in my eyes, and gently stained the page. Luna's little hooves wiped my eyes.

"The Pony Troops, they banged on my door. My dear mother, they took her. They stole her. I tried to cast the spell upon my mother, for her to be free, but it didn't work. And now... and now..." My sobbing prevented me from finishing my sentence.
