It was a muggy day in the swamp outside Ponyville, but this humidity did nothing to deter Twilight Sparkle. The mare marched through the swamp with a picnic basket and a determined yet happy stare. She slogged along with happy thoughts of her special somepony dancing through her head. She hadn’t been able to see him in almost two weeks and she could hardly bare it any longer. She needed to see him, even if she had to travel to such a foul place to meet him.
She still marveled at the unlikely circumstances under which they met. He had tried so hard to hurt her and her friends, but when she came back to his home to chew him out, he invited her to dinner. She could see it in his eyes, he really was sorry for what he had done.
When she reached a large expanse of flat, dark mud, she felt the earth shake violently. Before her very eyes, a nine-headed hydra rose from the mud. It let out a blood unique curdling roar form each of its heads.
“No, I wasn’t followed,” Twilight said, indifferent to the ringing in her ears that the roar caused. Loss of hearing was all worth it to her, as long as she got to be with her love.
The hydra roared again, softer this time.
“I love you too.” She blushed. “I brought a picnic I’m sorry I couldn’t bring more b-” It cut her off with its terrifying roar, “aw, you’re sweet.”
Twilight laid out her finest picnic blanket that she was fine with ruining and opened the basket. She uncorked the wine bottle of wine she had brought and poured a glass for herself and the rest into large bowl for the hydra.
After their lunch, they watched the sun set. Twilight nuzzled the hydra and looked into his eyes. Slowly, both of them closed their eyes and leaned towards each other.
Suddenly, a twig snapped behind them. Twilight gasped and spun her head in the direction of the sound so fast that her neck popped. Behind her was standing a wide eyed, Fluttershy holding a camera with a printed label on it. Friend porn, it read. “Fluttershy, what are you doing here! Please, you can’t tell anypony what’s going on here! They’d take him away from me!” Twilight plead.
“I don’t know Twilight, I might need a little… motivation if you want me to keep your little secret,” Fluttershy said trying to hide her ‘friend porn’ camera.
“Fluttershy,” Twilight had a feeling of anxiety mounting in her chest, “what do you mean.”
“Maybe everypony doesn’t need to know,” she paused and put on a slightly risqué voice, “but that depends on what it’s worth to you, Twilight”
“No,” Twilight was starting to panic, “you… you can’t. I won’t let you.” The hydra got closer to Twilight’s ear and grumbled something. “I don’t care if it’s the only way. We can… we’ll… we’ll kill her.”
“Really Twilight,” Fluttershy jumped back in “what would princess Celestia think of you then.
“She’ll never find out,” Twilight said, “we’ll hide your body right here, in the swamp.”
“I have eyes everywhere, Twilight. My animals will let ponies know and you’d rot in a dungeon in Canterlot.” Twilight eyes were wide and she was hyperventilating. The felt like it was falling all around her. “Don’t worry Twilight; you won’t have to do much,” she paused and smiled deviously, “except watch.”
Twilight gritted her teeth and clenched her eyes shut, she could feel tears starting to well up in her eyes. She felt a massive scaly hand on her shoulder. She looked up into the eighteen apologetic eyes above her. She sucked in a breath and stepped away from the love of her life.
Fluttershy stepped forward and ran her hoof under one of the hydra’s chins. “kiss me,” Fluttershy closed her eyes and puckered her lips. The hydra, begrudgingly, did the same.
Just before their lips touched, the hydra heard a deep thunk sound in front of him. He opened his eyes and was shocked when he saw Twilight weeping in the mud and Fluttershy lying facedown with a cracked wine bottle next to her and small oozing cut on the side of her head. The hydra rumbled and snaked on of his heads closer to Twilight.
“I don’t know what I was thinking. Just seeing what she was going to do to you… I got so… so angry,” Twilight sobbed into the hydra’s head.
Over the sound of Twilight sobbing, she heard a wet sucking sound, like something was stuck in the mud. She spun around, “the animals!” she shouted. She charged her horn with a bolt of lightning and launched it at the terrified squirrel that had become stuck in a patch of deep mud. She looked around her, she could see small animals all around her. She spewed fire out of her horn. The small bodies of varies animals were charred as she swept her horn across the swamp.
The hydra roared in protest.
“No,” Twilight screamed as she impaled a few animals with spikes of earth, “nopony can find out. I won’t let them take you.” A single hedgehog waddled away from them, its eyes wide with fear. Twilight clenched her teeth and focused the last of her magic. She created a bubble of protection around her and her hydra. Then she tore a piece of sun from the sky and drove it into the hedgehog
The piece of sun spread out into a cone destruction across Equestria. Trees burned, houses were torn from their foundations, and whole cities were razed all in a matter of mere moments.
Twilight laughed madly, “Finally my dear, we can alone.” The hydra and the love of her life shut its eye for a second before it roared words Twilight couldn’t believe. “No,” she shouted in denial, “how can you say you loved Fluttershy. She was going to-” he roared again this time softer. “That can’t be,” she shouted, “you couldn’t have put her up to this, even if you were bored with our relationship. I refuse to believe it.”
The hydra let out a final roar to her, before it picked up Fluttershy’s corpse and dragged it and the friend porn camera out of the bubble of protection and into the radiation swept wasteland. He let out a final bellow. The desecrated world heard only the roar of a horrible monster amidst the sounds of its end, but Twilight heard a sweet loving voice, “I’m sorry Twilight,” it said.
She shed a final tear before she lowered her magical bubble. Finally, she would be alone with her love. Finally, she would be alone.
