Assassins vs. Zombies

Entrance to Equestria- Survivors-Edited

I woke up in my armchair the night after Comicon ended. I slipped out of the uncomfortable position I had ended up in, still donning my Assassin’s Creed robe. Stretching, I plucked one of the faux short blades that had ended up digging into my side during my sleep. I attempted to rub a kink out of my shoulder, only to realize it was a knot that I had acquired from yesterday’s events. Perhaps I shouldn’t have attempted to attack the first person I saw was dressed as a Templar…
I headed towards the kitchen, calling up to my girlfriend as I did,
“Shasta, I’m making breakfast! Do you want anything?!”
“Make me one of those famous waffles of yours!” her muffled voice replied. “The one with the powdered sugar and honey butter!”
“Got it! Just come down when you’re ready. You have another ‘Assassin’s Creed’ session?”
“Sure, just give me a minute to get out of this costume. You took so much time into making it, and I don’t want to ruin it.”
A few minutes later, a woman with chocolate colored hair and sapphire eyes trudged down the stairs, the scent of my waffles bringing her to the kitchen. I outstretched my hand, a plate of waffles in it, waiting for her to take it. With a grumbling stomach being her way of thanking me, she takes her plate and begins to hungrily dive into her breakfast. I couldn’t help but smile at her. This woman could even make scarfing down her food look cute (of course, anything looked cute as long as I would be lucky enough to call this woman my girlfriend). I join her, hunger now really setting in, and begin to enjoy my breakfast with her. It isn’t long before we finish off our breakfast, and I begin cleaning up the kitchen while my girlfriend makes her way to the living room. As I start to drop pots and pans into the sink, a flash of light catches my attention. I peer my head into the hallway,
“What was that, Shasta?”
“I’m not really sure, but it looks like the power’s out. The solar panels managed to keep the holograms that cover the hidden weapons up and running.”
She was still saying something, but the sound of skittering and deep moans had now caught my attention. I look out of the kitchen window, and let out a yelp of surprise.
“What is it?” Shasta questions. I can hear her walking back down the hall.
“I…it looks like a dead pony?” I respond in a quiet voice, and still not too sure if what I’m seeing is real or just a figment of my imagination. “It’s walking on it’s hind legs instead of on all fours.” I squint, “It looks like there’s more of them not too far off…”
She rounds the corner, and her mouth opens wide as she prepares to let out a scream. I slap my hand over her mouth.
“Don’t!” I whisper loudly, “We don’t want that thing to hear us. If we’re quiet enough, we can sneak outside and kill it off before more of them come around.”
We sneak up closer to the window. Our once lively neighborhood now seemed void of any life whatsoever. Plant life had died off, roaring fires engulfed frames of now destroyed houses. Those…things wandered about aimlessly. It looked like something straight out of a zombie apocalypse film.
Hmm…zombie apocalypse…
“If…if this is what I think it is, we’re going to need to find survivors. There’s a lot of these things but they don’t seem to be fast…” I scour the dead landscape, hoping to see any of those said survivors. As luck (or unlucky depending on how you looked at it…) I see some ponies, along with a small dragon in a circular formation, protecting some children within their ring. One of the ponies took a step forward, a lavender Unicorn, to be exact. Her horn glowed with a powerful light, before she fired off a powerful blast of energy that disintegrated the heads of four zombies, and ripped another two’s hind legs clean off.
“If they can fight, then so can we.” I spun on my heels and started heading out of the kitchen, “C’mon, let’s get some gear out of The Vault.”
Shasta nodded in agreement, before following me, as we made our way to our basement. I walked up to the door and typed in a quick combination. The door let out a loud click, and the door handled turned a little, allowing me inside. I reach inside and grab an AK-47, an Uzi, and two M9s. I hand the AK-47 and its respective rounds to Shasta, before grabbing a magazine and popping it into the Uzi,
“I’ll take out the zombies around the edges of the house. I just need you to cover my back. Make sure to keep an eye out for zombies popping out from around corners…” I whisper our objective, while we carefully made our way back upstairs.
“Was this all the ammo we had for these two?” Shasta questions.
“Unfortunately, yes, so please, don’t shoot unless you absolutely have to.”
We make our way through the living room, and Shasta flips one of the couch’s cushions, grabbing two of the many daggers we had in it, and tossing one of them to me. I mouth a thank you before easing up to the front door. With deathly silence and delicateness, I open the door, and slip out, with Shasta shadowing me. I quickly round the corner, and slice the back of the zombies neck. If this was like most zombie films, cutting off the brain stem should-
YES! WORK!!
I smile with relief as the zombie goes limp, and thuds to the ground. Shasta and I quickly dash closer to the group of colorful ponies. I click the safety off my Uzi and call out to them,
“I’ll scratch your back, if you scratch mine! Take out the ones in between us, and we’ll take out the ones on the sides!”
The purple equine nods, and turns to start firing off more of that strange energy. I aim in one the nearest undead and fire my own weapon. It isn’t long before I hear the AK-47 firing off behind me. For what seemed like forever, the sound of rounds flying, shells clinking to the street, bodies thunking to the earth, and the terrified screams of the children rang into my ears. The lavender Unicorn whinnies, earning the attention of me and my girlfriend. She motions for us to get down, and we follow her orders. The smell of ozone burning filled my nostrils, as her horn lit up with blazing, lavender hued light radiating from it. A some of lavender light is summoned from her horn, rolling over us, and decapitating all of the zombies within a 20 foot radius. Shasta and I rise to our feet, before I turn and cautiously walk to them,
“Did any of you get bit?”
The group replies with a unanimous nod of their heads, and the purple one trots up to us.
“Thanks for helping us with this. That probably wouldn’t have ended as well as we would’ve wanted it to.” The purple pony started. “My name’s Twilight Sparkle, and these are my friends; Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Lyra.” She introduced them as she gestured to each of the mares. She then pointed to three fillies that were their gang, “And those three are sisters to our group; Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo.” She threw her foreleg over the shoulder of the tiny dragon that was standing beside her, “And this is my assistant, Spike.”
“Nice to meet you all. My name’s Dylan, and this is my girlfriend, Shasta.” I kneel down to get level with Twilight, “You know, you all seem pretty tough on your own, but let’s face it; we’re not too sure of what’s going on here. I think we should stay together until we figure out what’s going on.”
“I think we should too.” Twilight agrees, “If you don’t mind, may I see that um…thing? She gestures towards my Uzi, “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
I motion to hand her the Uzi, but the sound of a zombie draws our attention. I reach into my robe and grab my M9, and shoot it in the head. The pistol felt light. Too light. I check the magazine to see that there’s only one round left in it.
“Shoot, I forgot to grab magazines for these…”
“Do you mind if I try something on it?” Twilight inquires.
I nod, and hand it to her. She takes it into her magical grasp, and levitates it towards her horn. There was a quick flash of light, and with a satisfied smirk, floated it back over to me.
“I made a duplication spell on that last round in there”
